This was to be expected tbh. There was no way Trion could shell out that much money for gazillion's assets without making cuts elsewhere, especially since their figures weren't reportedly "doing well." I think the AA community was more wondering when Celestra was gonna be let go instead of if when there was a position change some months ago.

At the very least they should have laid off Victoria Voss since she's gone from one game to another and tried to destroy them. She even helped implement some draconian systems of pay to win into Rift which had to be removed right about the time that major changes to Archeage brought about the terrible state of the game which required a complete restart.

Voss was no longer with Trion by early November 2017. Roblox employs her now. She was instrumental with getting the two Korean titles published; first AA then Devilian so they make her the original executive producer for AA and then Devilian. Plus she was one of the main managers at Trion wthat shaped how their games would be monetized. She knew almost nothing about the actual game play though. Worse when she was the only one left handling Devilian and did her game killing magic on it from mid 2016.

A fickle business for fickle fans, with a built-in layoff schedule after a game releases and things calm down on a normal basis. Hopefully, it's more like my neighbor's situation, when he's laid off every Winter, and rehired every Spring! Planning a life around that is tough though man.

It's too bad that dev's don't always get the passion, compassion and love that we give the games that we love. Not all deserve it from being caught doing underhanded things, but the majority of dev's bleed/sweat/cry to bring us entertainment, because we all have a mutual love of videogames.

I've never seen a love or hate so fierce as that of a gamer.

The fact that these corporations would let people go and disrupt lives to cut costs instead of spending their money in a more responsible fashion has never ceased to amaze me. It's like they're taking cues from the government or something.

    What?
So they should just spend money they are not making, go bankrupt and then shut down - with everyone out of a job?

Companies always scale to their income.

Usually gave dev is one unforgiving industry, people come and go all the time, what is actually rare is permanent stable jobs.

That is a typical PR speech if i ever saw one.
How can you say it is in no way an indication of the employees or of the developer and tel the community that these layoffs are actually helping to BETTER promote their products.
Not only a typical PR speech but just sounds of total bull.I have had a very good idea of Trion since about 4 years ago and that opinion has not changed.Seeing the type of cheap low budget games they have aimed for since the slow down of Rift has really nailed in solid that the developer has not been doing very well.
When comes to layoffs, they don't sit there and say ok ,these were great employees ,we really need them but it is better for the products if we lay them off,i mean it really miffs me that this Hartsman clown thinks we are that stupid to buy into anything he is saying.

here is an idea Hartsman, spit the PLAIN ...SIMPLE truth out,if Trion owners don't like the truth, then why are you working for them, are you their simple puppet or something?I consider bull shitting the community far worse than that Arena.net fiascal where at least the employees were defending their ability and work instead of just BS'ing the community with PR.

Here's the truth: No matter what they said many would still feel like they deserve more or they are being lied to until they hear what they want.

For some crazy reason many of us gamers have began thinking that we should be privvy to every detail in a companies decisions. Not sure when it began but man it sure is peculiar don't you think?

No one usually likes to see this.

There are a few in the industry who wholeheartedly deserve it after what they've done to their customers. Trion is not one of those cases, but there are others.

Trion is a cash grab company. They buy good game licenses, do quick cash grabs, milk them to death. The milk is running dry on ArcheAge now. Too bad XLGames didn't know what kind of company Trion was and licensed to a worthy company instead.

Thanks for your kind words! I like to get online with fellow gamers and fart around. I made this account years ago, always read the articles but didn't comment very much at all.

My wife and I had a few rocky years through our 30's and early 40's in which gaming negatively contributed significantly. We separated and lived apart for a couple years and came very close to divorcing at one time. I'm in my mid 50's now.

My wife regularly tells me that she is in love with me. She tells me that there is a big difference between loving someone and being in love with someone.

We are in a really good place now :)

I hope things will work out for you guys.
