The problem with steam is if you somehow have your account kicked (say it is hacked or something) you are out everything. It is too many apples in one basket. Sometimes I wonder if it would be best to have multiple steam accounts and spread the wealth a bit.

Good idea and pretty much why I use several services for buying games. I probably only play a fourth of the games I have on Steam.

I def don't like being able to see my total spend for Steam now!
I think of it as my retired investment, for 30 years from now.
Gut Out!
I'm not that far from retirement (7 yrs or so) but I'll probably still have games in my current Steam library to play, even if I never buy another game.

wait what? How can you see total spent on steam? Im interested and afraid at the same time..
Do you really want to KNOW?! Here are the breadcrumbs from within Steam: Help > Steam Support > My Account > Data Related to your Steam Account > External Funds Used.
On my main Steam account, I've spent like $3k since '09, and I don't think that includes all the money I spent outside of Steam from HumbleBundle, BundleStars (forget new name), Green Man Gaming, etc....and claimed them on Steam.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
