Anthem News - The latest BioWare news update has been published on the company's site that gives readers an overview of what it has been up to this summer, particularly with regard to Anthem. "loud and clear the interest in BioWare doing more Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so rest assured that we have some teams hidden away working on some secret stuff that I think you'll really like -- we're just not ready to talk about any of it for a little while..." it seems they are like some flasher, just waiting to show us that tasty ding dong. ( I mean by that no story and other microtransactions)

So the story is totally separate from the single play story, the single play area (seems not to be a lobby?) is persistent, the multiplayer area is not. Hopefully nobody is going to call this a MMO.

At least they didn't call it fan noise.

Yes indeed we heard all of you and developed Anthem? I'm not sure this is the response people asked for when the masses spoke and requested. Of course its a great time to say it now, just in case anthem isn't as well received as we hope. I do hope Anthem is successful to some extent so we can obviously have a good game as well as funding and go aheads for the other projects we really want.

Anthem is literally soulless, totally unwanted - A steaming POS conjured into existence by some obviously overpaid EA market analyst. Hope it flops.

Anyone still believes that Bioware is capable of making AAA games of quality any more?

I'd like for a full fledged, long RPG story to be in Anthem, I'm just not sure I'll get that since it's pretty clear they're just making the game in answer to Destiny which doesn't really do much in the story department. It seems like another master throwing the loot ball, expecting players to happily chase it.

Too late. The "MMOs have evolved" crowd have already called it that.

They shouldn't be worrying about DA and ME fans. They should be making the best game they can with its own vision.

DA and ME didn't get to be what they are by asking other game fans what they want. Designers had a unique vision and went with it. Even if they did borrow ideas or take inspiration it was to meet a checklist of approval requirements.

I don't want to play DA or ME in this game. I want to play Anthem. Borrowing ideas from those games is great. Trying to make Anthem feel familiar to DA and ME players is lame and a good way to leave everyone feeling unsatisfied.
The thing is they need to be saying this is not ME, not going on about the story in it.

What I find curious is that the mark BioWare was attempting to hit with SWTOR they failed hit, while ZoS did it better without all the fanfair. They even failed with their monetization model comparably on SWTOR turning it into a F2P crap fest. I no longer have hope for them, sorry.

But does it really matter if someone did at this point?  Is the definition of what an MMO is still being discussed here on the site?  I have taken a bit of a hiatus from here...so....

I was more pointing out that the idea that just having persistence somewhere in a game makes it a MMO is a bit rich. Which is where we had got to with Warframe.

The definition of what a MMORPG is will always be argued on here, put that up there with death and taxes. :)

All this "promising" and "trust us" stuff that EA keeps spewing just makes them seem even more suspect imo. Words dont make a product good, a good product makes a product good....Save your words until you release please EA, alongside your 150$ collector's edition that wont have a game included.

I am sure that is what the scorpion said to the frog before they reached the middle of the river. However if it was the turtle he would have drowned the scorpion for the attempt. I'd rather be the turtle.

Maybe I'm just being cynical, but it seems like every time a developer talks like this (i.e. it'll be awesome, trust us) without really showing anything*, the final product ends up being a meagre shell of what was hyped.

    * Yes, they showed a 'demo' at E3, but compared to what Ubisoft showed of The Division 2 (which is scheduled to come out AFTER Anthem), it was little more than a glorified tech demo.

Edit: And as for future DA and ME games, all I have to say is C&C Rivals... i.e. I'll believe they’re more than the name when I see them.

I'm starting to wonder if that "my face is tired" line in ME:A is how Bioware really feels about working for EA. Like a Freudian slip, "My face is tired from lying to you all so much for EA."

I'm actually waiting for Anthem. I still believe that Bioware will fix their ME:A mistakes and make a quality game as they used to.

This is going to be the least "Bioware" and most "EA" game they have ever made, I wish posters would realise this.

That's not what I want, but it is the reality of the situation.

I want Bioware dead. Not blown up or anything, or all its employees fired and tossed out on the street, nothing like that. I just want EA to finally kill the name. Absorb it into the collective and change the name to 'EA Studio #419' or something. Complete the process and let the gaming world finally move on. Keeping the name around at this point is just pouring salted vinegar into an open wound. Let the name die with what little dignity it has left.

bruh, it really doesn't even mater. Play their games or don't. It's not like we have to worry about the brand causing confusion among consumers with the idea that they still make quality BioWare games, we all know what's going on, the jig is up.
