1. The account creation is almost immpossible unless you get it right on the first try and don't realize how frusterating it is.

2.The servers go down on weekends and weekends only. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm how many people like to play on weekends? EVERYONE!

3. Customer Service. You have to call them to get a somewhat immediate response and it is a crappy recording that gets you nowhere. If you send them an email it will never get responded to, and if you open a case it gets answered in 3-7 days. THAT is a LONG time to have to deal with your problem.

4. Account deletion. You have to call them to cancel your account and you have to tell them your CC number for security. Hmmmm very secure. You can go to Ibill.com to cancel but you need to put in all of your information like CC #, name on card, veri. # to get close to the swift death of your account.

5. Getting billed for the 1st month. Yes. You get bill for your "free" month. You get it refunded the next month but it still appears on the credit card.

Not trying to flame, in fact HZ is a fun and fresh game but it get olds quick and it is not even worht the hassle.image

    Hmmmm.... I don't agree:

    1. The Account Creation wasn't that bad for me, I didn't see what the problem was, I know alot of people posted about this, but I just don't get it. If you tried to play Shadowbane during the first couple days of release, THAT was an acount creation nightmare, Horizons was a breeze.

    2. The servers go down on other days than weekends. In my opinion they have done very well about staggering the times of updates so they're not always at the same time on the same days. I played QUITE a bit over the weekend, but then again, maybe thats because I didn't chose an overcrowded server to call home.

    3. I can't comment on this,. havn't had to deal with customer service at all.

    4. Once again, can't comment as I havn't felt the need or even remote desire to cancel my account.

    5. Ummmm nope, speak for personal experience, I didn't get billed for the first month.

Not trying to flame or invalidate your opinions, just trying to point out to the people who may be reading who have no idea about the game that the problems you listed are NOT happening to everyone who plays.

Nor am I tryign to say the game is perfect, I'm not, it has problems I don't like also:
    1. One helluva memory leak for one.
    2. VERY slow NPC and Player load times.
    3. Lack of documentation either in the manual, in the strategy guide OR online about some fairly important aspects of the game such as housing and training points.
And some others I can't think of atm, but I expect these kinda bugs in the first couple months of launch. So far Horizons launch hasn't been too bad, I've been part of MUCH worse (Anarchy Online and Shadowbane).

That was really only a problem that first week, I'm sure.  Even so, I got it done and so did many others.  I don't think this is an issue any more.

While they work on stability, etc..., the servers are going down pretty much every day.  They stagger them one at a time, so you can still play...maybe just not on the character you'd like.  Heck, the downtime lasts about 5 minutes sometimes...I don't see this as a problem, especially compared to the 6+ hour "all server" windows EQ would have.

Haven't had to bother with this, but that sure sounds bad.

They can probably streamline this, but I doubt it's high on their priority list.  Hehe.

Didn't happen to me.  I got a statement with $0.00 due, just like it should be.  Sounds like something went wrong with your account creation process and they credited you for an overcharge.  If you ask me, that's good customer service.

You're entitled to your opinion.  It is a fresh game, and it has a bad rap for being unoriginal.  Sounds like you had some bad experiences and it soured you...shame, really.  You seemed to be a fan of the game.

This game is still very new if your going to get this game the first day of release expect problems. I suggest some people wait atleast a month or 2 before getting this game, right now i'm playing it more then final fantasy.

It just staarts running a lil choppy after playing for extended sessions, simple relog fixes the problem, no damage done.

Definetly not. Just because I had such a nightmare with this game doesn't mean you won't love it.

One more peeve: Load times. It takes 4-6 minutes to log in [from clicking on the shortcut to playing the game] and 20 seconds load times per teleport.

Load times is something they are actively working on, so says David Bowman.  And they have definitely improved in the past week.  I load in a lot faster to start the game than I did a week ago.  Aso for teleports...that's somewhat true, but then this game doesn't have zones.  You can move from one part of the world to another without ever seeing a loading screen if you want to work it that way.

Hopefully the load times will improve some more, but I think it'll never be close to instant.

That's 4-6 mins to log in if you are not dial-up. This game has proven very unfriendly to dial-up users. I myself have no access to anything else yet. My login time ranges from 30-45 min. And usually face a 5 minute lag time. Then if that ain't enouph I get booted from the game after a 20 min session.

So anyone on dial-up considering this game really should think twice. While some dial-up are having luck, most are failing with this game.

Support is aware of the issues with dial-up users but seem to have little or no interst in fixing the problem just yet. Support has told me it's my ISP. My ISP has told me it's the game servers. Nobodys fault and nobody can fix it...Guess it's my own fault for living where I do that hasn't  high speed...image

You're entitled to your opinion, but I completely disagree. I think it's worth looking at, but I also agree it won't appeal to everyone.

I might consider getting it. do you think a p4 s.4 ghz, 512MB, radeon 9200 card, and a cable connection will run ok on it? It lagged in star wars galaxies in the cities but thats about it. DAoC runs fine. Just a little skeptical about this one.

You will experience more lag than normal. The game seems to run well on 512 RAM only on nvidia cards. I know, its weird. Also, remember the load times...

The only thing that will cause you issues is the memory. You'd be happier with 1GB, but it's not necessary. They have quite a few textures in this game, though you can turn them down to match your system reqs.

At first launch it was a bit rough...but ever since the Dec 23 patch there have been very few video lag issues for me, and next to none for network connection. But if you want to rule out any issues, wait a month or so more. By then most of the most egregious issues should be worked out...there aren't many, but there are a few.

You guys have to remember that this is a new game and all new games have problems, whever its accounts, loggins, grafix or connection, and some games more than others.  I wouldnt dout that at least half the problems you have mentiond are proberly being sorted by the Horizons team now as we sit here and type.

Keep this sting open and after 2 months we will see how many problems are still arriveing, and how many new ones there are,

Beta testers dont always find all the bugs, The only real testers are us. That is the reason for patches.

Have fun, see you all in there in 2 days.image

This game hasn't even been live for a month... give it some time before judging it. Both EQ and UO were plagued with lag and bugs when first going live. Personally I like the game, my girlfriend also likes it. It may be a filler until EQ2 comes out but I will be enjoying myself in the meantime. Just my 2 cents.

I play Horizons with a dial-up. I don't experience the pain UOAndrommie seems to experience, 5 minutes is the longest I have to wait to login.

I can play for 2 hours+ without being booted sometimes, 15 minutes in the worst cases.

It's a pain, there's no doubt about that. But I think the game is worth it. I probably wouldn't if I had to wait 45 minutes to login.

As for 1 gig of ram. It's a must. I used to get a complete system lockup when I got booted before when I only had 512mb, not I just get CTD. Not as frustrating.
