I was never a fan of that show.

Looked to me like they took a steroid-enhanced surfer loser and pitted him against a bunch of spare parts from a Wes Craven movie — and threw in corny dialogue to beef up the Suffering Factor.

But like many fascinating spectacles from that era, He-Man is worth a revamp, and a re-imagined and updated edition might play well — and spawn a game (which frankly I shall decline to play).

tbh I sense there may be more potential for devotee gaming in a My Little Pony MMO.

I think Thundar the Barbarian would be better honestly.  Much cooler world.

Welcome to the boards. There was that film, which I was presently surprised was not awful. :)

He-man was an amusing show, but I don't think there is enough depth to it to make a mmorpg.

If you are going to cherry pick 80's cartoons for a MMO, I'd say Gi Joe or Transformers would be better.

Masters of the Universe would be the best MMO of all time.

You have multiple factions at war: Heroic Warriors, Evil Warriors, Evil Horde, Snake Men, Great Rebellion, Evil Mutants, Galactic Guardians, etc. Some factions hate each other, while others dislike each other, yet get along from time to time. World PvP!

You have every weapon in the book: Swords, Bows, Guns, Blasters, Magic, Armor, Machinery, etc.

You have the perfect combination of fantasy and sci-fi: There are vast lands, ancient castles, wild animal mounts, space ships, dragons, speeders, futuristic machinery that is aesthetically "medieval".

You have an ENDLESS supply of unique characters and powers.

JUST LOOK AT THIS PICTURE. THIS WOULD BE THE BEST FRICKEN' MMO ON THE PLANET

It would have to made right, though. A massive PvE game, but optional servers with World PvP (no bgs). Deep crafting, world housing, deep customization, and the exact look of the 80s cartoon.

Robotech would make a better MMO IMHO.

It would be freakin' awesome until some developer thought it might be a good idea to add voice acting.  And hiring Dolph Lundgren.

    Very, very, very hard pass.

Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.

All that is true. But it was the first cartoon released after the laws were changed in the 80s that allowed kid shows to be half-hour toy commericals. They were still figuring out what they could and couldn't do. For example He-man never used his sword against anything but robots. I'm not even sure he punched anyone, just picked up objects and threw them. It's the first of its kind and often they're not very good.

They tried a Transformers MMO, it didn't work out. Even though I prefer Transformers, I think GI Joe would work better as a game concept, maybe a FPS or something like Fortnite.

Really, they tried a transformer mmo, i would play that. But yeah, GI joe would be great.

The movie and cartoon were pretty amusing to me as a little kid.

I'm not really interested in playing games anymore ATM.

While my nostalgia help me with the original series, i actually have some fondsness for the 200X series as it is called released in 2002.. While it has enough "edge" to cut through steel and a very much anime inspired style. It was a good update to the series.

But oh lord have mercy does it think it self edgy...

She-Ra is a show I watched with both my daughters and they both liked.  I couldn't get my son into He-Man.  I also heard they are bringing back She-Ra.  So a She-Ra game could be more likely.
Also, I couldn't get my son into Thundercats, but both my daughters watched the old one, and the newer one with me.  I'm not into old cartoons or anything, but if my kids want to watch a show instead of play we usually take turns picking the show.  And old cartoons are way better than Tinker Bell movies, My Little Pony, or Barbie movies.

Don´t knock my little pony: friendship is magic... It is a suprisingly wellproduced show.. agrred the movies leae a lot to be desired but the show it self is good.

We'll have to agree to disagree.  I think the show and movies are near impossible to watch.  I was surprised with some old shows I loved as a kid that I also find near impossible to watch - they are so formulaic and just bad.  But, the at least had a lot of action and fight scenes.

I though my oldest kid was ready for actual good movies - but I recently tried watching Predator with her and she got too scared.  How do you get scared at pure awesome?

Well MlP:FiM is the new reboot. Not the original show. But people tend to lumo them together for some odd reason. =P

    The original is just horrid.

And the original predator movie might be many things.. but pure awesome is in my mind going a bit too far.. =P  =)

I watched those shoes as well.  They all had catchy theme songs.  That was the 80s cartoon trademark.  Gummi Bears and Fraggle Rock have good theme songs as well.  I recently watched an 80s cartoon theme song list.  I still have the ninja turtles theme song memorized.

Predator not pure awesome?  That's just crazy talk.  Running Man, Commando, Conan, Total Recall, Ice Pirates, Escape from NY, Aliens, Time Bandits, etc, are all extremely awesome.  But Predator is pure awesome.

I know we are getting pretty off topic but keeping with the 80s stuff theme did you guys watch the new Karate Kid series, Kobra-Kai?  I thought it was going to be awful and put off watching it because usually things with that much buzz end up being bad, but I really enjoyed it.

Ice Pirates was a pretty funny movie.

Time Bandits always scared me a bit because the little boy is left all alone at the end.  It was still a good movie.

Arnold was always good at delivering a line.

Love Transformers, GI Joe, Robotech(Macross), etc . . . those would all be amazing as an mmorpg.

Just not feeling He-Man though. Sorry.
