check your email to see if you got a T6 Valiant

"The geniuses at Cryptic/PWE are at it again apparently.  Their marketing department has decided certain players are worthy of a free T6 Valiant class escort & some players are ... you get the picture.

If you were lucky enough to receive a code over the last couple of days, congratulations, you have to redeem it through Arc.  I don't know the specifics about whether it is account-wide, character specific, or any other possible stipulations.

In the chat, however, it seems to had been given to all sorts of players from inactive to active.  The Andromeda giveaway last year sometime specifically stated something about welcoming back to STO whereas this email, I've not seen this one yet, is supposed to state something about appreciating.

If you didn't get one, I'm sorry with you, but were not alone.  These type of schemes always beckons the question out of me:  What harm would it had done to offer this to all their players?  Especially since they don't reveal what criteria they used to decide who gets what & who is SoL.  It could be legitimate it could be discrimination who the hell knows LOL."

What constantly bugs me about Cryptic's/PWE's tactics, especially over the last 2 years, they do things for "exclusivity" & are not "inclusive".  They don't have to offer anything for free of course, but if/when they do why only certain players/people/customers.  That's the primary reason I stopped playing STO as much besides the rinse & repeat grind with little innovation & why I stopped tossing $ into it.  As a free game it still offers a great deal, but why invest & encourage such blatant shotty tactics.

Wow i wonder what the thought is behind this. Sounds really bad to treat players like this.

That ship was offered on Raptr for 2k points not so long ago. 2k points means that it was as good as being given away for free, for anyone (well at least for anyone with Raptr but you could buy unlimited amounts and give them away).

My vote goes to "totally random".
I have two accounts, no mail on the less used one, and got the Andromeda last Nov. on the other, but not the current one. Actually I think I only got 2 or 3 such mail-giveaways during all the years STO is live, on the two accounts combined. Seems random to me.

Well once I learned CBS's CEO Leslie Moonves took over the leadership on what's going on with the game, it all began to make sense. This is a man who ran the CBS company into the grown basically and who doesn't understand or support science fiction much less marketing.
