Kakao Games has sent word that the Black Desert Online playerbase has surged since the release of the remastered version earlier this month. Returning players have increased over 100% since last week and new players joining has increased 24% in the same time period.

    Not enough of a change to bring me back, the enhancement system is just pure garbage. Instead of making meaningful changes to this they make it full on pay2win now. Just sad.

    A player spike during an update? You dont say....Personally, I'm more interested to see how many will still be playing bfa 1.5 months in.

    Yeah - people logging in to see what the big fuss is about only to see that remaster is all about over the top lens flare and post processing HDR effects.

    Meanwhile the core problems remain.

    Completely agree.  The most appealing aspect of BDO is the combat... until you realize the PvE fights are trivial and the PvP fights are pointless.  The game desperately needs purpose more than anything, not shiny new graphics.

    And one week later even more people left, after they introduced Pay2Win into the cash shop.
    Smart move, add something positive (for free) and directly add Pay2Win items.

    I love the game, will still play it, but Kakao/Pearl Abyss are just awefull.

    I already see bad times for the new AiR MMO (2019/2020), released by Kakao :(

    Logged in > got free horse costume > seen its the ones i already paid for > logged out.

    Pretty much why most really logged in... it already had the best visuals.

    Wanted to like it, but PvE combat is way too easy. That made it boring for me. Very little danger.

    you are implying that p2w wasn't in the cash shop before that update ...
    come on ... the game has always been pay to win from the get go. they just stopped giving a shit about negative publicity with that update and went full on over the top p2w.

       And as beautiful as BDO is , i could walk out to my local park , have the same beautiful world ,  try to kick some bunnies and probably have a more challenging PVE experience..

    I've always said BDO could be the first REAL next gen MMORPG.

    Shame they just made it plain weird instead.

    I tried to play DDO yesterday and the crappy graphics were a complete turn off. I thought about getting into BDO as I'm a graphics-whore. But I know it is shallow as hell. 

    I guess I am a high maintenance gamer, needing good game play with good graphics. I just can't stand to play games with outdated graphics. 

    I am installing LOTRO even though I have a feeling, I'll hate the graphics too. I just find myself with a desire to play an MMO a bit.

    Lotro has some amazing landscapes still and water effects. The graphics are kind of hit and miss like that, some things awesome and some things really dated at the same time, and until you get your character into some of the latest gear you will probably think they fugly.

    The 2 that fit that bill the best, to me, are FF14 and GW2.

    Unless you love the scifi aesthetic, then eve forever.

    Lol, the only "remastered" features are the features that didn't need any remastering. The same bump every game get's with a launch/relaunch/expansion, I don't expect it to last.

    Did they remastered PvE?
    Did they add proper dungeons and reworked World Bosses?
    I'll be back when those issues will be addressed.
