I've tried countless times to get the group I game with to try lotro out.  Unfortunately I dont think this will get them any closer.  I may sneak away from our current games from time to time to dab in it though.

Might return for this, Mordor killed my enjoyment for LOTRO.
Would be awesome doing Helegrod and The Rift again like the old times.

my two lifetime accounts are ready to go.
Now if only they would narrow it down a bit, saying "this fall" is a bit broad.

Minstrel first for me, followed by Burglar.

Strictly speaking there shouldn't be Helegrod or the Rift of Nurz Ghashu until much later. Helegrod came late in vanilla Shadows and The Rift was bridge content between Shadows and Moria.

Warden won't be there at launch either, unless they're doing hybrid rulesets. No wadens until MoM arrives.

You bring up a good point though. How will class balance and engine changes be incorporated. The combat system has been revamped several times in the last 11.5 years. My lore-master could solo elites and perma-cc 2 -3 creeps in the Moors.

    1. Lore-Master
    2. Minstrel
    3. Guardian or Champ

Might see if I can do a serious run at Champion as that was what I was going to play when I played beta. However it was really squishy and I ended up playing Guardian.

Man I wish they said a more solid date than this fall. Oh boy I wish my account with all my expansions wasn't banned. Maybe I'll rebuy them for this.

For those of us who have never played LOTRO, what is the shadows of agnar content? Is that an expansion or starting at the base game?

Are they going back to "forced" grouping for book quests?

Also, a lot of areas have become very solo friendly. Are they reverting back to the old maps where areas required grouping?

I'd like to have to go to the bard to re-trait but I bet you won't need to.

How about the crafting, will that be what it was like at launch?

Base game. Level 1 - 50. At launch however Evendim and Forochel weren't included.

They were book quest updates after launch.

The description seems to indicate they will use updated graphics and UI and such. It also says the new races/classes would be included, though it doesn't say if those will come as part of the expansion content when the server reaches that point or if the additional classes will be included at release. Unless I misread the article.

"One world server only for all regions" explain thisplease ?
They have just one server for everyone who wants to play no matter where you are. Is there a separate European Legendary server? No. Players from all territories can play together on the Legendary server, and German and French speaking players can play on Legendary using the localized game clients.

I think it'll be a lot of fun, for a lot of people, and the best way for new players to get in to the game. But I don't think I'll give it a try, because I was there in the beginning, I have a lot of fond memories of that time, and I'd be constantly comparing the two experiences. This will be very, very different.

Most of the elite mobs got downgraded to signature. Most of the signature mobs got downgraded to regular. Mobs lost about 30% health across the board. Player damage and surviveability were raised. The ten minute death penalty was removed. Zone Dread was removed, enemy Dread was reduced (for those that don't know, LotRO has a Hope-Dread mechanic, which increase/decrease the amount of damage you do and take, the amount of healing you receive, your max health, how effective your skills are, etc). Bree-lands were 1 Dread, Evendim was 3 Dread, Angmar was 4 Dread... Angmar elites that used to destroy groups of three players will now be easy solo fights.

One of the coolest things about old LotRO was the Old Forest, which had no map, and everyone got lost in it. It was spooky, it was a death-trap for on-level people, and there really wasn't an equivalent experience in other games. But now there's a map and everything in it was made easier. Now it's just a zone, not that special. There will be a lot of things like that, that just aren't the same.

I expect this Legendary server to be great for new players, but terrible for nostalgia.

One thing that might get me to try it is the community.  Yes lotro is f2p but ingame chat isnt near as toxic as other games.  It still has some but with the legendary server being paid it will be nice if it can bring back some of that nostalgia the community had pre-F2p.

Though you won't need it for this server as it is essentially a fresh start server. Buy the game again and have a blast!

I dont have much interest in doing that old content again , ive done it 4x or more .. But the Moors will be fun again instead of the garbage it is today..

It also will just not be the same game if people can buy all the stat and deed tomes, Mounts etc.. to there hearts content , they are saying the cash-shop will be availble but not what is in it ...

The Cash Shop is concerning , i would like to know what is included

If they were making a vanilla experience I would totally be onboard, even pay a monthly fee for it. But this is the current game as it is now just with a level cap of 50. Pretty disappointing.

I dunno. The game has stayed pretty close to the same from launch, except with more stuff added to it.

The biggest thing is it took longer to level and combat was harder. So classic LOTRO I imagine would be most wanted for the challenge of leveling.

Outside of that...its one of the few MMOs that hasn't really changed anything.

WoW classic for example makes sense because WoW BFA is 0% like WoW classic and has LESS stuff (class wise) than classic had.

UO classic would make sense if they did it (ignoring private shards), because at release it was 100% deathmatch PvP. That is a pretty big change right there.

Outside of that...LOTRO classic seems a bit weird and being made cause a lot of other MMOs are doing classic. But the game has it is now, is like classic enhanced. With the exception things are easier than they used to be, which is the biggest difference.

I think this is just a progression server with amenities and they are making it for people who want to/willing to start over with a large player base at lvl 1. In this way it's also a nice bit of money for the company.
