According to one credible Destiny 2 Redditor, it appears that Destiny 3 is already starting production. AnonTheNine has written that Destiny 3 has gone into full development with Chris Barrett taking on the Game Director position. The action is being developed with a focus on RPG mechanics and will be "even more hardcore-y than Forsaken".

Presumably Destiny 1 will close, or is this a series like AC but online where players play very similar games and cough up for each and every one?

"You think you don't want Destiny 3, but you do." I think the funnier thing is them announcing the annual pass for Destiny 2, yet no details on the content, yet already was rumored working on Destiny 3 sometime last year.

There's a slight possibility that players can actually have a good time. I'm glad I'm getting a new AC every year or so. It's like your favorite TV show getting renewed for another season.

There is a difference here in that Bungie seemingly feels they need to start completely over whenever they start a new Destiny project, instead of merely building upon the previous like the AC franchise.

Destiny 2 should've been Destiny 1 2.0.  I don't mean that it shouldn't have been sold as a completely separate game; that's fine.  But it should've been everything Destiny 1 was at the time but with more.  D2 is far too close to what D1 was to take steps backwards like they did or even stand still.

AC seems to take steps forward with each release, or at least deliver what the previous title had with all-new story content.  It doesn't seem to take steps backwards like Bungie has with Destiny.

It will all come down to loot for me in D3. Otherwise I will wait to buy it cheap after it has been out for a while. I enjoy the story enough to play it but not enough to enjoy doing it 3 times and then be at the point where most of the focus seems to be some sort of PvP after finished with story.

Loot is still boring and I would love to see public events go even farther than the one on Mercury. I remember how much fun Warhammer Online was and it had phases. The escalation on Mars and the Well are fun but still just a horde mode.

I just feel like Bungie is trying to appear that that they care about what we want while making sure it is hard to actually interact with them. They try to do the least they can to keep people around while making it look beautiful.

1A Release plan says " Fall of 2013,2015,2017,2019"

Its no secret there is to be more than 2 Destiny games, and they did state a 10 year plan originally. I did think though that the game would carry over to the next in terms of progression and it would also allow for new players to catch up somehow.

My problem with Destiny is not the amount of games they release as I will pay for good content that is constantly evolving, but that's the problem the content is not the best and really punishes those players that do not keep up with buying expansions or "comet releases"

What they need to do is make the classes have a real role like titan to be a true tank and have a healer class. That will push its rpg into more rod focus. The titan to have a Afro ability to. The titan to also have a Defense ability of taking 45% to 50% damage reduce.

    Yay, more hardcore! barf...

Though maybe they'll use that as a way to distinguish the games. play destiny 2 if you want nice relaxing play, play 3 if you want your teeth kicked in in difficulty!

course i doubt that'll be what happens. it'd be too useful...

I should clarify, I think AC does a good job of making a new game both in setting and story wise, just the gameplay is too samey (Black Flag still the best one). Not a player of Destiny but what I pick up is that new versions just have slightly better graphics?

It doesn't surprise me very much, hopefully Bungie have learned from Destiny 2's failure and will be a bit more circumspect with Destiny 3, the amount of feedback they have no doubt received from Destiny 2 players should be used wisely. :/

Think I will pass. I was done with Destiny after the first one.
