In that regard, MOBA's have filled that niche perfectly, a playground of people who simply enjoy the thrill and challenge of fighting each other, and with a set up like Fortnight, where the game is Perma Death Full Loot Open World PvP in the most absolute sense that it could be done, and there is fact a gear grind in the game itself, abeit a shot cycle one, it's still there where you need to collect your equipment, it fills all the voids that players who want that kind of game and removes any need to add such features to an MMO.
As no matter what an MMO makes, it will never be better or more purity of purpose then what MOBA's like Fortnight offers to players that want that kind of game environment.
Which explains why millions upon millions of people play Fortnight.
That sounds logical, but in fact mobas have one big issue - the long term simply does not exist. Indeed they are fun, but only for a while. At some moment the PvP becomes boring grind. If I compare L2 PvP and LoL PvP - L2 was much better.
MOBA's have the best PvP I have ever played, far better then anything an MMO has ever come close to offering, as gear and level grinds do not make for balanced PvP.
GW2, gave a system for somewhat balanced PvP in the sense of gear and levels, they still had poor class balance, which is a typical problem for MMO's in general.
No matter how much you may gush about Linage 2, Fortnight offered a better playground for real PvP players.
Egotism is the anesthetic that dullens the pain of stupidity, this is why when I try to beat my head against the stupidity of other people, I only hurt myself.

GW2 is easy boring grind - the PvP. LoL is kind of cool, but still in a short term. You know nothing for L2. What made the PvP there great was the crafting, trade and territory control. Very similar to EVE in fact. But I'm sure you even do not have idea what I'm talking about, as you never played or interested in an OW MMORPG.
No I played it, I simply thought it sucked.

Oh great, someone obsessed with Linage 2, calls me a Liar because I thought it was a boring copy of Aion, who no doubt has not really played any other MMO's regardless of their claims, and can't figure out the logic problem with gear grind and looting other players.
No, sorry there buddy, but, crafting and gear grinds in games where players can loot your stuff, just makes for a game that very few people will play, and even less will want to get deeply involved in.

I say you lie, because you lie. It is obvious you never played or even interested of the gameplay of L2. The fact you call a game made in 2003 - before WoW - a copy of Aion, shows a lot.
Yes, it shows I played Aion first, dummy.

It's a special kind of person that fusses that I didn't get deeply involved in a game, when I tell them I didn't get deeply involved in a game because I didn't like it. Which makes me wonder, since we are talking about "Who likes Easy"
Do players really get deeply involved in games they don't like? I mean, I'll give a game a few days, roughly, 2 hours a day to play, and if it can't hold in by the end of the week, I'm done. I mean the fastest I quit a game was Archeage, just didn't like it walking in. Not my feel or style. This was followed by Riders of Icarus, which I played for a bit to see if it got better and it didn't.
But, really, are there people on this forum that think someone is going to keep playing a game they don't find fun?
It's like I hear: "Oh you haven't invested several years and thousand of hours of life into this game, you don't know how awesome it is!"
Well no duh! If I tried the game out and it came across as a grindy crappy copy of a game I liked playing, or worse, a grindy crappy copy of a game I found to be lack luster, it's going to be pretty common sense that I did then go play it for years on end.
Also, when it comes to the idea of who likes easy.
Just the feature list is enough to end involvement in a game. Like for example, Full Loot Open World PvP. I am sure some people love this, and equally so, some people don't. But this feature alone is enough to turn players off from a game as the idea of grinding for gear to only risk losing it, defeats the motive to grind for gear, and thus removes the whole idea of investing into the game.
Not sure if anyone really figured that one out as I see people bring this up from time to time about how this makes a game better. But, the reason why people don't stay around to play a game like that, is they have no real good reason to invest into it. I mean does anyone really think I am going to spend my limited play time to work at acquiring gear just so someone else can take it from me?
No thanks.
Which, no doubt is why a lot of those games are not booming.
Also, along with those PvP gankfest games dying off, being replaced by MOBA's where the vast majority of players enjoy the even footing and fighting chance, are games that require forced teamwork, like heavy Raid based games and Interdependent Role-based classes.
Just an observation.

The funny part is anyone who played L2 knows you lie. You never played that game, and also you do not have slightest idea about it. So who are you lying? Obviously only yourself. But it is really fun how bold you are in the lies. Another fun fact - in Asia call Aion the Asian WoW.
Only liar here is you, about how played all of GW2 in a few weeks.

and let me say this again just for you @ikcin Linage 2, really sucked compared to Aion.

Obviously almost no one played L2 on this forum. It is pretty much a dead game for english audience. Just like GW2 is a dead game in asia.
Its 2018 now and soon 2019 Every game is getting "kid" nerfed so that a 3yo also can play the game and feel good in it...
Loot outside how every kid wears helmets and yellow coats and bubble wrap like the movie bobbel boy..did we do that 20-30 years ago..nope we raised hell on our bikes and it was fun ! just compare this piece of history with how the games are today..its horrible..
They should split games up in 2 versions..one server/platform for kidz and one for adults.
Then you would have ur hard and meaningfull game back again like they use to be
And you can shiatstorm me all you want cuz i know im right !

Your EvilplayerTwo, I would like to see what EvilplayerOne has to say ?
You know why. Because people aren't looking for difficult. People live through difficult in their daily lives. They are looking to relax and have fun without turning off their brains completely like they would watching tv.
Your life is not difficult, except if you are from the poorest, or live in Syria or Africa - and then I doubt you will play MMOs. In the bloody, lawless history of the human kind you live great and very safe. You even have free time for games, while your ancestors had to fight 24/7 to survive. In the medieval Europe you could be robbed and killed in any moment. In the high mountains in New Guinea even to meet another human was a grave danger in the last century. Even the ghettos are relatively save places in comparison now. So except the delusional drama, I doubt you have any reason to play easy games.
