So is this game a western version of GTA V ? It is actually intriguing me even though I hate western genre with a passion, however, I am a graphics whore though.
Like i said earlier it plays more like a Cowboy life simulator than GTA in the Old West, to me at least. If you hate the western genre with a passion then its tough to recommend this lol
I have to get better at not accidently getting in trouble. I got money added to my bounty from a mission which involved killing people. I guess it was bounty hunter but me being the through looter I am was attacked for murder.
Ramming people with your horse will get you assault charges. Accidentally shooting and causing fights by bumping into people will get you in trouble. Where are your stand your ground laws?
lol yeah "lol I was using a rest stop pole in Saint Denis to go take care of irl issue come back to a copper telling me I am loitering and move along so I ran off and got murdered by 20 coppers chasing me down for loitering didnt pull my gun once lol."
Also every fist fight I have been in seemed to end in either my getting killed or me killing the npc except for that one mission one where the bystander npc stops you in a cut scene. Fist fights should end in being knocked out not dead.
I'm planning to stop by Best Buy tomorrow and pick it up for Xbox One X, and will probably grab a couple other games I missed recently like Spider-Man PS4, as well. Gotta make use of that 20% off as much as I can before they cancel my gamer club membership. God of War is still my GotY, but I'm looking forward to seeing if Red Dead can surpass it.
they didnt sell a single special console at the wal mart here they had 10 of 10 left. Sold a couple copies of the game the guy said.
But like I said in my first comment here PC master race and besides that console gives these guys more of a license to monetize stuff.
So you dont own a console, dont plan on playing unless on pc but you went to Walmart just to ask "the guy" how a game you have no interest in is selling?
Why are you so desperate to bash a video game? You are either lying your ass off or actually did that both are equally sad.
i bought RDR2 for the PS4. No news for PC apart from the start of teh year where they said only xbox and PS versions, the PC version was dropped.
Now i heard a rumor that there may be a PC version released next year but thats just a rumor and thats all it is. Since 98% of rumors are untrue i wouldnt hold my breathe for a PC release.
OH there is 1 way to play it on ya PC and thats to subscribe to PS NOW and then play the game through your PC.... not sure if the xbox has the same functionality.

LMAO No I didnt go there JUST to ask the guy. I was there shopping. Saw the special consoles, well the box anyway the actual hardware is behind glass, with the logo and banners all over the place and I asked the guy as I passed.
Ironic you think I am 'desperate' top 'bash' a video game when you seem equally if not more desperate to white knight it.
Even more so since its universally a smash and everyone is touting it likes its the best thing ever created. So it really needs no one to defend it from where I sit.
And of course linking the sales is icing on the cake. What have they sold 500K copies? Had they released on PC they would have sold 10 times that. Actually now that I look at that link it isnt even actual sales its a puff piece from July PREDICTING how many games or consoles or whatever they were going to sell. Now thats really desperate (and laughable).
I have never faulted the game I have always faulted Rockstar for how they do things and the way they do them. This game is no exception. Thats why they keep quoting GTA V when they talk numbers. GTA V single player sold alot but even now its 'only' around 13 million. That includes PC versions. The multiplayer with all its cross platform issues has sold about 80 million copies vast majority of them on PC (and on sale since initial release)
I think most of the comments all over this site echo my own. Great looking game, but its console and majority if not all will be waiting for it on PC even if they also own a console, and I have yet to see a single person (on a video game enthusiast website) say theyre going to go out and purchase a console specifically for this game. But I suppose like me, IF they ever would they would probably spend the extra few bucks for the 'special' one.
Like I said Rockstar knows how to market and sell things. Obviously the RDR II console is a marketing gimmick and they will surely sell many of them. But it still a hype/impulse buy but then again thats what drives the whole industry these days.

I'm not white knighting anything the game doesnt need to be defended. I'm just laughing at some random dude running to his local Walmart to determine the success of a video game he was emotionally hurt by somehow.
Despite not being a fan of westerns, I had to watch a few YT videos just to see what everyone is raving about and I have to agree, this things has game of the year written all over it. It's just an outstanding open world with awesome dialogues and quests. The detail is just incredible. Funny as hell too: laughed out loud for real watching the drunken Lenny scene.
I only meant to watch half an hour or so and found myself watching about 5 hours of it over the weekend.
I still won't get for my PS4 but I've gone from not caring if it ever comes to PC to kind of hoping it will now.

On the PS4 apparently its fully 1k, on the xbox its 900p, on the xbox1x its 4k but in all versions, its 30 fps some of the time. The only way i would get this game is if it was on PC and 60 fps or better, it really is a shame that they continually sacrifice framerate on consoles, even on the newer ones, hopefully the next generation of consoles doesn't suffer from that, but that was pretty much what was hoped for last time
Anyone do the fishing quest with Jack yet? Damn the music on the ride to the river was awesome, like when entering mexico in RDR awesome and
wow the pinkerton scene at the end, Ross and the other pinkerton ruining their fishing trip and meeting the one who ends him, on his fishing trip to boot. Just wow. I really hope there is a RDR3 that takes up with Jack Marston after he gets revenge for his father.
So my son bought it on release day and has been occupying our PS4 ever since - absolutely loves the game. After watching some videos, I decided that I wanted to play too. I went out and bought a pre-owned PS4 just so I didn't have to take away from my kid's experience. I'm a weak human being. Of course, if I had any hope it would come out on PC in the near future, I might have waited. Since the original RDR never came out on PC, I don't have much hope that it will happen with this game.
I own a PS4 mainly for 1 game and 1 game alone- MLB: The show. Theres nothing like that game anywhere but on the PS4 (although the PS3 versions were good as well) and its been the only reason to own a console imho- I essentially bought a 400+ dollar console merely to play that 1 game series...And I did so happily because MLB: The Show is THAT good imho.
Well, having now spent some time with this game, only because I'm a history buff and love the time period of American History from the westward expansion onto prohibition- I have to say this game would be worth the price of a console as well. Its also THAT good.
This is probably one of the best games ive ever played- Hard to say this early on and what the replay value will be but OMG, this is nothing short of amazing.
I dont know where to begin and I'm not even going to try because every single detail of this game is superb (minus a few historical inaccuracies) and they nailed it on every front. This game sets a new high mark in so many facets.
If you cannot tell- I really like it
alot.
-This would be a game that would be worth buying a console for (and pick up MLB: the show while youre at it)
Just an FYI for those interested in the Online aspect, you need a Playstation Plus account to play Online. One of many reasons I hate consoles.
Lucky for me I had no intention of playing Online but it still came as a shock to me when i bought it last night.
Thank Microsoft for forcing paid online on consoles and now everyone is doing it. But hey, $50 a year for PS+ is cheaper and offer more than subscribing to one mmo, and people here love subscribing to mmos. That part has become more of a personal preference.
I personally would also play that game offline, not interested in the online part. But i don't know when i'll get that game in particular. I have a long list of games i want to buy first.
On the plus side though the PS+ sub gives 2-3 free games/month.
I keep the sub and have loads of free games as a result- I dont really play them but when my kids come over they have a whole library of games to choose from.
I actually think ps+ is a hell of a deal. Something I dont mind paying tbh.

In 2018 besides the monthly free games, I saved about £500 from PSN+ exclusive discounts and free Netflix for 3 months.
If you use your console as a main gaming device, it's a hell of a service. But to be fair, it ain't much if you are getting the device for 1 game only.

Xbox live is the same. Besides RDR2 I'm not playing much on my X but I still jump on and grab every free game they offer. It's been awesome during pc downtime to jump on and play some of the free games I have. No question I get my $50 back every year.

Iv done the same as you for years with Madden, Now that Madden is back on PC iv questioned why i still need a console. Glad i didnt get rid of my PS4 back in August, This is quite a game.

Arthur taking Jack Marston fishing is just instrumental but really poignant.
