Blizzard has posted a brief note to fans heading to the Anaheim Convention Center for BlizzCon 2018 about extra security measures being put in place to ensure that fans are safe over the weekend. At every point of entrance, fans will be walking through metal detectors and submitting their carried items to a bag check. The team is recommending that attendees arrive earlier than normal as the process could slow entrance to the venue.

Good to hear. It feels like there's been a lot more active nutjobs lately in the public.

Yeah good idea with the mass shootings and nut jobs out there these days this is just a extra precaution and you shouldn't have to bring a gun to a gaming convention to begin with. Wouldn't need to even worry about carrying a gun if people where not so stupid with them. Man this world is going to shit in a hand basket so sad really.

This is great to see the big Conventions are actually getting extra security, given the digital age HM*'s and instructions you can find on the Intrnet / Dark Net it's not really that hard to make something that could injure or harm thousands at one of these event's thus the great reason for metal detectors.

Though depending on the placement of the Metal Detectors, and Amount of people at such an event there is always the risk if something bad were to actually happen a good amount could still be harmed before the person is stopped.

Now all we need is more public facility to at least get metal detecotrs and screenings.

Though I do really question some of the rules here especially prohibited items.

You can't wear Google Glass, which is stupid, but you could take in a "Spy watch" with hidden camera, and two - way radios are restricted, however you can use your Cellphone, and a Walkie app, or use discord to communicate with other people thus there really is no sense to having such restrictions on video equipment being used in fact IMO there should not be restrictions on such as long as it's within reason and checked through security properly.

With as bad as BfA was they should beef up security.

damn I guess they really are worried about the fans when there is nothing on Diablo but a netflix series and a digital remaster/mobile game

Will they be able to stop any vans or other large vehicles ploughing into the crowd? Weapons may be banned in many places and easier to find, but its much harder to stop a rampaging vehicle that drives into crowds of people. Or what about acid attacks that are easy to hide and transport, and able to be thrown at peoples faces?
