    From the FAQ

4.3 Will Pantheon require me to play for hours and hours or all night and all day to advance my character?

No. While the world of Terminus will consist of vast landscapes and epic dungeons, there is no reason to require players to play long, contiguous gaming sessions. Players will be able to play a couple of hours, logout, and return later to continue their journey. There will also be mechanics and features to both help people get together and group and also to make lasting friendships. To further facilitate this there will also be ways for players to keep their group together even if some members of the group can play longer than others or at different times.
So, all there is to go on is their word?  I'd rather trust this if anyone could actually see (and report on) these "mechanics and features".  What is going to cut a potential unreasonable 5 hour LFG time down to a more reasonable 15 minute wait?  Has anyone actually seen these "mechanics and features"?  I'd love to see these in action.

Its been their all along in EVERY MMO.
The social panel you can fill a group in a matter of minuets.... I know I did this in at least 10 mmorpg's !  Yet, NO ONE USES IT.

Let me guess, you spam rolling chat thinking people read it, right ?

Pantheon only has to advertise this God given great tool !
Im calling BS.  In any mmo where no one uses the group tool the group tool does not work.   So how can you say you filled groups with it in 10 mmos, and yet also say no one uses it?
    This is amazing.  Bs :) …...Really ?

It only takes the person looking for a group to use the Social panel.

You said you used the group tool not the social panel so that is what I am responding to.

In every game Ive ever played the group tool shows people that are also looking for a group using the group tool.  You wont find people using the group tool unless those people are also using the group tool.  Their names do not get posted there if they do not choose to.  Therefore it makes no sense to say you formed groups using the group tool if you also claim no one else is using it.
The guy is a joke that is why you don't understand him, no worry.
Claims to be old school but can't even handle EQ P99. His "reference" ( or one of them ) is vanilla WoW ( nothing against 2004 WoW, AFAIC ) but at the time it was labeled as mainstream by [some] old school players from EQ/AC/DAoC ), then again "old school" must start somewhere in time for everyone but still.
He thinks he's better than others, check some of the nonsensical threads he started, you will see.

Edit : if Pantheon is anything close to old EQ, he will probably not last long.

First I'll start by saying your an ass.  Now that that's out of the way, Your twisting a story to your liking to belittle someone, I've explained that P1999 is Old, 1999 old, F*&$# You if you didn't see that. I'm not better than anyone, I'll guarantee that I'm better with people in game than you, I wouldn't want to find out because like I say your an ass.  I can tell by your over the top comments that you picked out this post to move in at random for the hit, this tells me that your most likely horrible to other players.  I explained in great detail exactly how to find people and gave examples.  Even if it's not his style to find people like that,he is saying Bull shit !.... How can this be bull shit ?

I'm Blunt, Games-Online are not mmorpg's and I tell it like it is.... I'll continue telling it like it is and don't give a crap about you.  I only attack if provoked.

It only takes the person looking for a group to use the Social panel.

So you have no clue on how it works.
Your one of the millions that say "it takes me 4 hours to fill a group"  their fore mmorpgs suck
I suspect you are overlooking a key point, you've had great success using a group finding tool because you were willing to use it build a group.

If one is that sort of go getter no tools are even necessary, you would send tells to random players of desired class and level,  filling your group quickly.

Those willing to lead groups are rare, even rarer than tanks which they often play.

Most others are likely to just sign up and wait for an invite, which even if one is a healer invites are often not forth coming.

After several nights of trying this approach many give up on LFG tools (and games) which don't incorporate some form automatic match making.

I know, it's up to the player to take charge and be social, @Jean-Luc_Picard is always telling me this (he is another outgoing leader type)  but that just isn't how I roll.

These days with the onset of age, declining skills and absolutely no tolerance for in game ass hattery I will not group with anyone who aren't friends or guildmates which tends to limit the worst of the bad behaviors.

So no, old school group finders aren't an answer, but neither is automatic grouping tools.

What we really need is for the devs to deliver on the promise of making it possible to group with my friends nightly regardless how much we individually play.

Old school DAOC was like this, fairly broad level ranges meant once you got a character to level 35 or so (out of 50) you could easily join the guild nightly leveling camp to regularly play with friends, survive the hell levels, and really enjoy the game.

For what it's worth I thank you for being one of the few willing to regularly invite strangers to groups, you are a rare breed.

Well, assuming your sales pitch  isn't,  "speed run, must know fights,  MK?"

    :#

Never looked at these key point,

Some are shy, it does take more guts be bold enough to /tell random strangers.  It is much easer to simply spam chat, it seems less intrusive.  It's a sad fact that people don't watch rolling chat...Only the chatters do that.  So yes, most don't have a good method because most are not intrusive, simply human nature.

However, I was that way too !
Not really shy, but not that much guts either.... When I think about it, it takes a LOT of guts !  But by doing the /tell slowly I began to get complements....Mostly in Vanguard, because of its low population, their may only be 10 players total in a play range...most haven't grouped in days because of this.

But other games too.  I always start with a tank, if no tanks, no one is going anyplace.  With only me and one other, I would promise them I'll have the rest in a few minuets, and I would !

People are starving to play together... As you do this long enough, you find people do love to group and that having a lot of guts feeling goes away.  You start feeling your helping instead.

    My motto is:
I may not be the best player but I can find people fast :)

Well In EQ when I was not with my static group, I grouped with people in my guild first. Next choice was people in certain other guilds that I knew and had a good reputation.  I never did the tell invite with strangers because I really never needed too. But I did get tell invites especially on characters that I had not got around to having added to my guild sometimes and often if I had nothing else to do at the time, I would go. Sometimes these were actually good groups and I made new friends with is always good.
One thing that I never did was use the social panel group functions.

    Thanks @Mylan12
This is a good part of playing with others too.  What your talking totally enhances friends to play with !!

More often players use pickup Guilds they find within the game, however this even applies to hand selected Guilds that people are used too:
As nice as a friendly guild can be, often the player could be constrained with NOT having enough players in their level range or simply no one feels the same adventures.

Guilds are GREAT for playing as duo's... I often ask
"anyone level 26 or below need help ?".... The trick with this is don't expect XP or quest share, do it to make friends.  Often others could take you in a direction or part of the map you had never played before, you get to see others style of play... You can learn a lot from seeing how they play :)

Friends ?.... This is great too, but they don't have to strictly come from "the guild".  I add like minded players to my friends list.  Some from guilds but most from friends I accumulate around the world....At times I may only have 20 minuets to play....At times I have no intentions of moving my character a foot.  I'll log in just to say hi !!… this helps keep them close.

All this with remembering my Goal (much like the original topic).  Its not a race, I'm in it for the long haul.  I refrain from caring about what's going on at end game.  I like to keep that a mystery for as long as possible.

It's hard to win an mmorpg….. You win by having a lot of friends.

Boo Fucking Hoo, if you don't like the grind or you expect to get to max level in 1 day then play something else, im sure this game will do just fine without the instant gratification crowd or crybabies that whine cause someone else has better stuff then them.

I make it a point to always leave a couple spots open in my group for strangers. Sure i have friends to play with and together we can do any content but rather than fill a group with same people night after night we like to keep things fresh with new people, and if we click they join our friends list or our guild, as a result these strangers now have an expanded pool of people to interact and play with and we have had fun new experiences with people. It is a win/win situation.
It also helps that with my core friends we have everything covered and play well together, it means it doesn't matter what class the strangers are or even how good or bad they are. If they are fun to be around then its all good, and as gaming nerds we are happy to help teach them how to improve if they want to learn.
