I for one have a lot of faith in Pantheon. Where do I get this faith from ?... "Nothing, just a feeling"
What do we know at this point ? - We have a Web site full of features without anything viewable to the public yet. People want proof not words. - Videos showing their class balancing techniques, and improved stages of graphics. No viewable world, just testing zones.
A large percent of the population has a negative view of this game. It's understandable if it's not their style. You can't please everyone.... The problem is their is no proof of anything. Without proof how can a potential fan be positive ?
They talk about the perception system, but not much put into practice. They talk about solo, but nothing put into practice. Not much of the world is visible, only test zones. Without cities towns crafting stations and NPC's theirs no proof this game is any fun !
After so long words don't carry much weight, actions do !!
How far has this game advanced ? 70, 50, or maybe only 5%... If its kept secret most likely not far. As it stands right now, players could only assume its a remake of EverQuest 1, because that's the only thing players can see.
It's crowed funded and early revenue needs to be generated.
But it's still very early... Light years away.
My opinion, This team sucks for graphics animation and world design and overall coding. They should stick to ideas and outsource the actual game world to ArenaNet, they can pump out a good stable product. This game will eventually become reality, their just messing around with old technology that was proven to be quirky.

I think the release bits are pretty typical for pre-alpha.
While it is true that no one knows if they can pull it off, it is also true that the goals they have set are aligned with what alot of us have been looking for. If they do what they say then this will be the game that could replace EQ.
All I know is what it use to look like back in the failed Kickstarter, and what it looks like now. This team is the best of the best from what I see in the changes. The idea is what creates the hope in Fans. EQ is what broke me into PC gaming and "True" MMos. It doesnt look like a EQ rehash to me. It looks like they took the best of EQ1 and have taken it into the new age, while keeping the best of the past. I mean just look at how this game looks and runs. It looks and is more stable then the MMO i play now that is new and in full release... Cant say that about any other game ever that was in Pre Alpha. I have Hope for now and some internet Troll is not going to be the one wavering my opinion on the matter. I have opted in on Pantheon and I can truly say that if I play it and dont like it when it releases, it will still be worth it, just for the fact that they are trying to bring MMOs into into the future with and actually community in a MMO. Not just a Lobby Game "Current so called MMOs". Good Luck to these fine Folks at Pantheon. Also these guys all work from their homes, they dont wont even spend our money on a studio until they actually need it lol. Thats just good business,,,
What we surely don't know is what your point is in this thread.
Kylern I did a rewrite. Please re-read the OP
Ah, much better, now I think I've got your point, thanks.
I'll agree, until there is something playable that we all can get our hands on it is not really possible to determine if we'll like it or not.
Watching bits and pieces from streamers of early alpha doesn't cut it.
In my case I won't really know until its fully launched as I feel virtual world MMORPGs are truly a sum of their parts.
I probably will wait 6 months to a year post launch as my current preference is to give devs time to flesh out inevitible early issues and content a bit more.
At first I was going to dismiss your outsourcing idea, isn't often done by western MMORPG teams.
Then I recalled, Ashes of creation stood up a sizable offshore team in like Malaysia or something and it can be extremely cost effective if done correctly. (Like 2 to 3 times less expensive)
So perhaps this could be one way to make limited funds go further and improve graphics and animations. Lots of great artists in Asian made games, just normally in styles I don't much care for.
As for a "large percentage" having a negative view? We here at MMORPG.com forums are a bunch of "Don't Bees," (old Romper Room reference) and if left up to most of us nothing new would ever be made, could ever succeed, or be any fun.
Talk about tiny niches...the posters here are among the tiniest so I would not take what is said here (and certainly not from me) as any sort of ultimate market success or failure predictor.
Just realize, if you make your own predictions posters here will challenge any and all assertions because....that's just what we do here, all part of forum PVP.
Heck, if you stated "tomorrow the sun will come up" @Wizardry would tell you why it will be a lazy effort, @DMKano will say his inside sources know it won't, I'll probably argue against your usage of "come up" and why stating it will "rise from the horizon" is the proper way to say it.
Ignore us all and keep the faith, but most of important...don't invest a lot of money before it launches, or at least not more than you are willing to easily part with.
If you live in the US, Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Wow. You have made a thousand posts in favor of how awesome Pantheon will be, and now this. LMFAO. You are just posting to be posting.

I'm constantly saying the coding will be bad.... Been saying it all along and not sure how many times you responded against that, so YES you know that. Your twisting words around.
Hope your computer can run it, their forums will be loaded with "it will not play" !

You're just noticing this? They're also totally incoherent rambling. Guess you only care when it's not in favor of the game you're looking forward to though

Stupid people, I've talked about bad coding at least 10X times
If you have nothing to show all you can do is talk. Unless your new here youve seen this scenario play out before. Sort the game list there, filter to beta and development games. Go down the line and click on the links to the games website. most are dead links despite big talk.
My bet is once the crowd funding overhype dies down and people lose attention we will get a few buggy as all hell with place holder combat videos and lots of explanations. Until proven otherwise i take this stance.
Look at Camelot Unchained. You can find gameplay and the head salesman showing it off, despite it looks basic as hell and not even close to beta. Even if that game turns out to suck they have something. People are more likely to fund projects they can see, so they would be showing it off if they had anything that looked professional and quality...which they dont.
Why is this even being debated in 2018? So many developers have done this. Talk big and hope the crowd funding happens so they can actually make the game. I just spent a few hours or boredom going down memory lane and looking at all the games that were just like this and seeing their websites as dead links. All those games started just.like.this. The ones that pulled out and launched into decent games is....hmm...cant think of any off the top of my head...i mean i know star citizen will launch eventually and be at least ok...but other than that...None as far as i can remember.
LOL....this dude is talking about not having a complete game ready to show the world when the game is still in pre-alpha.
Come on, dude. I mean...really. Come on.
This game is like 2 years away from launch...of course they don't have a lot ready to show people.
However...even now, they have live streams in the actual world, fighting actual bosses, in actual dungeons. There is more ready to go in this pre-alpha than some games I've seen go into closed beta.
I know different games have different definitions of pre-alpha, alpha and beta but I use to test a lot of games. I remember ones of the last ones I did before I stopped was LOTRO and guess what I remember from the last alpha right before the first beta. All that was there for us anyway was hobbit land. No mobs just buildings and some of the NPCs. Of course that changed when the game entered beta. Till this day I can not make myself play a hobbit character. This game seems far along for pre-alpha compared to others I seen in alpha.
VR has shown us a lot. I am sure they show more as development continues but heck give them time.

Reference: See Everquest 2 and Vanguard.
........
Old technology what does that mean? Are you saying they are using old computers that are quirky? I guess the internet can be quirky at times and it old. Maybe you are talking about software? The unity engine that they are using is certainly capable of working for a game such as this one. All software is quirky to some degree.
What does Everquest 2 have to do with this? No one working on this game had anything to do with EQ2. As far as Vanguard goes, I think Brad is the only person working on Pantheon that was with vanguard. Vanguard also used a different game engine. I believe it was based off of the Unreal 2 engine. Maybe they had quirky computers.

The game is very early but my problem is that I do not yet see any new ideas, or even adaptions of features from other games that could fit Pantheon. That worries me a bit.
