I still enjoy it. The stories are good. You have to think of your account as your main in this game, with legacy, not just one character/class. The PVP is fun for me. It's the best way to get my Star Wars fix on.

So the same old shit they've been doing. If this isn't a sign the game is in maintenance mode I don't know what is.

Well, name one MMO out there that actually does not regurgitate the same "events" every year. I honestly cannot think of one myself, then I have not played them all.

Maintenance mode? You might want to do a tiny bit of research before making that claim. They're releasing an entire new planet on the 11th...

This game is an investors dream. It runs with minimal costs and makes a good profit each month from subs and the cash shop. One of the investors talked about this formula for this game on Bloomberg TV a few months back.

Amazing a game based on one of the greatest (second only to LoTR IMO) IPs is almost forgotten. I literally forget this game exists until an article like this comes around. I have played maybe 5 hours of it and just never got into it. It just doesnt seem "Star Wars'' enough especially in the beginning, which is really where you want to 'hook' the player.

Why someone never made a 'true' Star Wars MMO and used all the assets at its disposal is amazing. Just shows how little faith people have in the MMO genre. In the current landscape and with 'space' games seeing a massive run lately it would be a no brainer.

But thats the problem with MMOs, development time is so long by the time you see the trend its way too late to try and ride it.

I loved this game up to when i stopped playing a few months ago, i was gonna go back, but looking at that event list im uninspired. Xmas is a time to entice players back with a great event schedule.

From my point of view the stories of each class were pretty good. The problem in that front came from the decision to depart from the Empire vs Republic conflict.

Funnily enough, my Dark Jedi master killed more Jedis than any of the Sith classes (according to the story obviously).

That one was a very immersive mess.

I too miss this game and I have yet to finish some of the class stories. I wish I had some time to spare.

Good game and i have said this before, it lacks a key element in a star wars game and that is a Space game ala jump to lightspeed

I heard the Republic vs. Empire conflict is coming back.  They say you need to chose a side.  I wonder if that means my Light Side Sith Warrior can go Republic?  That'd be cool.

I watched the trailer for Battlefront II: Battle for Geonosis and thought boy if that wasn't just a bland shooter but actual RPG MMO or something that'd be cool...

It wasnt all that though. I know its the cliche thing to claim it was the best game ever. But for people who actually played it it was a mess. And if even HALF the people ACTUALLY played it that CLAIMED they played it it never would have done what it did.

I know revisionist history and hype and people latching onto what others have said about it has created a mythology now. But pre SWG was going down the drain fast. People and guilds leaving in droves and with a game like that (like most actual MMOS back then) that required a fairly large population to be at their best it was making the game much less than what it was supposed to be.

As for the IP yeah I played all the single player games. I cant remember the one that I though was the best. But you could travel to all the worlds and there was a pretty large story arc where you were on the wookie home planet. But you did story quests and obtained new followers who were on your ship (cant remember if it was the Falcon or not). But that one was pretty good.
