"In this new universe race or gender don’t matter" But that's a white guy in the picture right?
kinda racist don't you think? its a char nothing more nothing else
No I don't and you won't find me sticking labels on your posts. I suppose he does not have a height or weight either as he is "a char and nothing more"?
How did you make that incredibly long leap of showing a specific racial gender model to that being the only viable one. You used bad logic miss.
I am not saying it is the only one, but it is a rather well known one and I found that ironic in a "universe where race and gender do not matter". We also seem to be derailing the thread as I am sure the guy who wrote the review did not mean anything be such juxtaposition. If you saw no irony here, fair enough.
This may well be a convention now but I have not noticed it before. The game is played on three platforms, PS4, Xbox and Steam. Windows or PC's do not get a mention, we play on Steam.
This bodes incredibly well. I'm reading a tiny bit in here, but Steam compatible means it will run on Linux. Xbox could very well mean Windows 10 cross play and I could easily see this as a strong member to gamepass. We'll see. Microsoft is making some subtle but significant changes at Xbox. PS4 just means PS4 lol.
For purchasing purposes it means you can buy it on Steam or Xbox. It probably won't hit other third party PC stores. Some old Microsoft games are on GoG, but most everything they sell on PC (that isn't through Xbox or Win10) is through Steam (like Killer Instinct).
Bit of a relief honestly, if its through Steam then it means it won't be restricted to just Win 10, but also for Win 7/8 if it was limited to just Win 10 i would never get to play it!

truth be told, I don't remember of ever seeing, or playing a win 10 only game(I care at least), so i'm curious now of a win 10 only game and see if I can run on my win 7, I really don't see a issue on this, unless of course is a microft game and they tend to force people to use win 10, and for now my win 7 do the trick without a problem, and the pricing of the win 10 is not good either and the bugs are annoying.

I concur. Also, while i'm probably playing this on PS4, i am glad the PC version is labeled "Steam" and not "W10 store exclusive". EDIT: I might be able to play this on Linux as well, which is good.

It could still be the main marketing demographic. I noticed various fora have given FarCry New Dawn a lot of guff for their cover art as well for portraying nearly the opposite of what you implied - women who aren't white in a dominant position over a light skinned male.
Traditionally the only characters ever represented are males that look like they're descended from white Europeans. There are going to be growing pains as we learn what inclusion means and how to make that feel natural without disenfranchising any demographic.
I think tackling this idea early on is especially important for RPGs and games incorporating RPG elements. I think you brought up a good point, but the implication that showing any specific race invalidates that was way off. I don't think noticing, questioning, or trying to sift through what that means is racist of you at all. I think it was observant of you and that's important for critical thinking.
I truly feel exposure therapy is what's needed. It's a news item now because it hasn't ever been common before. Continue using it, it will become less newsworthy.
They seen to be going out of their way to not talk about the details of the lead character. How involved will character creation be? Will there be little character creation, just put a helmet on him and he can be anyone, like Warframe. Will the lead character be voiced or silent?
@Octagon7711
What detail was given, is no voice for main character. Although obviously various choices during dialogue. And you can create your character at start.
Btw if anyone have questions that my article didn't answer, I'll keep coming back to see if I can answer them. Can only throw so much info in one article

The portray of a)women and b)black women as the villains raised the ire of some game journalists that believe that their political ideology is gospel and having anything non white male portrayed as villain is forbidden.
Which would indeed make the Farcry franchise ignoring metacritics scores and thus game journalist ideology an anomaly in the land of AAA studios.
At least actual gamers understand that the most memorable characters in the Farcry franchise are the main villains. Which makes the particular choice a pretty good one, assuming the duo is not some shallow cardboard caricature.
I also don't think we got rid of Joseph Seed. Won't mention anything more than that for those that haven't finished Farcry 5.

It's strange they would even report on it- female villains have been around a long time. From Cruella de Vil, to Poison Ivy, to Hela from the recent Thor movie, all the way back to Glenn Close's role in Fatal Attraction a long time ago. They've been used in comic books, movies, and video games. So female villains aren't exactly unheard of, and they run the gamut of simply evil to an injured party seeking brutal revenge.
Will be one my shortest posts ever.
two things..
1 Single player games are always TOO gaited, linear, that ship has gone and sailed with the wind.
2 You see that close up of the npc face, that is a sure sign of crappy cut scene work, where the entire view is cropped out so all we see is the guys mug. This is like what we would called instanced work,it is not live in the game,i can't think o the proper terminology to use,i'm tired sue me.
No video to see, then there is nothing to see but a bunch of paragraphs.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
The articles won't be long to follow though. After all, there have been articles for less innocuous stuff compared to having the main goal of the game being the murder of two black women. I still remember the ridiculous stuff written regarding the Red Dead Redemption suffragette.
Damn! I was really getting into this, then I read 'first person' and that slammed the brakes on my enthusiasm. I get motion sickness, there's no way I can play first person games. So I really hope they add a 'third person' option, otherwise I'll have to give this one a miss
Looks very promising on it's own, so far, merits & even more so given Fallout 76's dilapidated release. With me now questioning the applied effort of that Starfield it's nice to know there might be a comparable contender to take its place. It's probably far away from release & have to learn more details about it but nevertheless glad to learn about it.
Will be one my shortest posts ever.

Are you saying they walk funny?

Gut Out!
What, me worry?
Tried giving new vegas a try again, but the combat for me is so unbearable.
FoV slider?
Shouldn't even have to ask in a first person game but...

Combat definitely looked more fluid.
