Yeah, we know...no official announcement has yet been made about Diablo 4 but we're all 99.999999% sure that the big red bad boy from the long-running series is definitely being primed for a comeback. The biggest question is when Blizzard will finally get around to telling us officially...because they sure missed the boat at BlizzCon, didn't they? At any rate, here are a few things we want to see come the big day when we finally learn that Diablo 4 is on its way.

Oh and add in Path of Exile type updates and we're golden!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
1) Character creation.
2) Traditional Diablo 2/PoE style passive tree AND Diablo 3 style runes.
3) PoE or Lost Ark style advanced classes/sub-classes.
4) Character stories. AI companions like in Diablo 3 are okay, but having them offer long, interesting quest chains would be even better and could help flesh out the world, especially if the characters themselves are interesting. Think Mass Effect/Dragon Age loyalty missions.
5) A select few optional open world patrol zones and faction PvP zones that don't trigger hardcore deaths.
Why this isnt "5 Things We'd Like to See in Diablo Immortal" then? :P
The best.. and I mean absolute BEST.... thing about these games is when you get that awesome drop that makes you stupidly overpowered or create that build that lets you tear through things with barely any effort. That is the whole point of these games and it's why all these MMO attempts just feel like an isometric WoW. It's why Diablo 3 was garbage until Reaper of Souls as well; they made it tiered and structured.
What's described in the article is basically PoE style, shared hubs. That would be fine and is proven to work but I know for a fact they would not stop there. They would add some silly matchmaking features for dungeons or rifts or some shit and it'll just be WoW. Loads of group only content that doesn't belong in this genre and the forums would be flooded with idiots complaining about each classes strong abilities out of jealousy. Jerks would complain if you don't use a certain build etc. etc. All the magic will become lost.
6: Real MarketPlace !
7: Game Gold must be really hard to find !!! shareable between players!
8:Legendary items must be %5 drop rate so thats why we have to farm 23123123 times ...
9:Open World Map!
10: Merchant system ! people creates merchant and afk mode for selling rare items .!
11: Premium account for additional exp
12 : item enchanting and upgrading system . +1 to + 15 or 20 etc.
13: no PAY to WIN !!!!!!
15: Not SEASON SYTEM! we want to play only 1 character system . 16: A character with huge heals in boss rooms . only for heals and buffs .. can't damage so high !defensive only ! 17: A system for pets . Can choosing collecting rare ultimate items chooseable .. 18: Character Creation more detail like Black Desert Online ! There are more things for adding but i don't remember right now .....i can add more when i remember !
This isn't to say that 'dark and gritty' can't look good. Bloodborne is a real looker, after all. But Path of Exile isn't attractive. Grim Dawn isn't attractive. I only want 'dark and gritty' if they can spare the budget to make it look up to par with modern standards.
My drive to play D2 was farming gear to trade. I kept me hooked. Always out trying to find the best of the best to sell for what I needed.
I would like to be able to trade rare gear once more, but with a real trading system of some sort. Shops you can set up, a auction house, something.
Open world no option to unflag, yes a bad idea.
Some form of group arena or mini games, I would love. Hell even separate zones for larger clan battles would be fun, give me extra drive to tweak out my character. Separate gear sets to pvp in if desired.
I think Diablo 3 is very pretty to look at and enjoy playing it. PoE looks is why I don't play it. I want to be happy when playing and the graphics just depress me like I am looking at a picture that the sun has bleach the color out of.
Deeper character building would be great. I would be fine if this was something more end game where was trying to farm what runes were originally going to be fore D3. I forgot how many combinations they said there could have been.
I would enjoy seeing something for clans except it kind of goes counter to lore and same for shared lobbies. If lore somehow went past the character being "THE ONE WHO SAVES THE WORLD" and allowed for groups to form then it would be better.
Get rid of character being the world savior. I am tired of that so very much. I enjoy the stories in games that you are just one of many who have the ability to help save the world but it is not just you alone.
PvP will never be what I want as I would much prefer to go play a first or third person game that was built around fighting other players.
Those are my personal things just like the article is the OP's personal list. I would like to see more story content released over time. I would like to see a little darker gore style added back into it instead of the bright and happy feeling it got with D3.
1. Since monetisation was a bit of a fiasco with D3 and its real money AH, how about a GaaS setup where you buy the base game and they keep adding class packs every 3 months or so that you can buy for 15 bucks? You get a class, a class weapon, a bit of story and two character slots for that price, perhaps some unique monsters to boot. Some suggestions for classes would be:
Beastmaster
Chloromancer
Druid
Monk
Amazon
Rogue
Warlock
Zealot
Shaman
Witchhunter
Dark Knight
Priest
This way customers can spend money when they want to and Blizzard keeps a steady income instead of 1 base game, 1 expansion and 1 character pack in 6 bloody years. 6 years in which they had to keep spending money to keep the servers up and create seasons.
2. D3 has perfect character customisation, especially on higher difficulty levels. What D4 needs is ways to customise your Rift/Dungeon runs in addition to that. How about being able to add modifiers to your runs? Positive ones like 10% resist all or +5 minutes time, which will decrease your rewards. And negative ones like All monters have added poison damage or -5 Minutes of time to complete the run for higher rewards. Rewards would be currency to spend on random gear, like the blood stones or whatever they are called do now.
3. Seasons that actually add game play, like PoE does it. But when a season ends, how about bringing back that specific season trait as a modifier to your runs as explained before. As an example, one season could be all about traps, after the season ends your could modify your dungeon run with Inclusion of traps for a greater reward.
4. Meaningful crafting. How about being able to infuse high quality gems into your recipes to ad unique and random properties. How about deconstructing and/or combining high level gear to create new items.
5. Make the towns bigger and actual hubs for 24-32 people.
6. Add extremely rare gear with non class specific skills. I would love this in all honesty, it would open up so many new builds.
7. I LOVE, LOVE the skill system with its modifiers in D3. But PLEASE, make these modifiers more viable and unique, half of them are worthless or so unexciting you almost don't notice them.
8. More randomisation when it comes to world and gear creation. Right now the world of D3 is 60% predetermined with 40% randomisation, and really, it shows after playing through all of it for the 20th time, I would like a LOT more variation. How about creating night and day versions of every zone with the accompanying enemies and flora effects (glowing mushrooms pop out at night in the desert for instance and at that time the dead rise). And weapon randomisation, just look at the amount of suffixes and prefixes a game like Grim Dawn has, more modifiers please!
9. Make the towns more interactive, @Scorchien mentions games like Dins Curse, that is EXACTLY what D4 needs, a town with wishes and needs, a town that can get attacked or invaded, starving for food. All of it dynamic.
10. New modes, simple dungeon runs aren't cutting it in the long run. How about The Last Stand? A mode where you defend a random fortification in heaven from the assaults of hell and the more waves you beat the better the reward. Howe about The Descent? In which you decent the rings of hell going deeper and deeper and the difficulty goes up with every level. The catch? You can only exit the dungeon ONCE with the loot and if you die you lose it all. So when your inventory is full you have to decide what to drop and what to keep while gambling you will actually survive the next level.
Do I have to go on Blizzard? Because it REALLY isn't hard. Do I have to go on? because I could, I've got plenty more great ideas like the ones mentioned above. Maybe you should hire me because I don't only think that I know what I want, I damn well know that what I think that I want is exactly what I actually want. And really MMORPG? I never give negative comments when it comes to articles posted here but this one is really inadequate, if that is all you want from D4 then, well, good luck to you all. I like something more ambitious.
End of rant, thanks for reading.

Kyleran on yours sincerely
'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'
Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...
'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'
Gdemami absolutely not being an armchair developer
You realize your list is basically PoE right?
