Waste right now. You'll likely try it.. go "Oh, it's like Ark".. then later you'll go "Oh, this is very early access". If you want a playable game, don't get it. If you're happy to test it knowing it's a complete mess right now, go for it.
It might be decent one day but it ain't gunna be anytime soon.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
like the title says it is worth buying or just waste useless?
I don't know where you are getting the $8 from? It's $25. Yes it's worth it as long as you understand it's an early access game and don't expect it to play perfectly straight away as so many people do.
I't's true that it was so buggy in the first couple of days as to be virtually unplayable but the devs have been working hard, it seems like 24 hours a day and have been releasing new patches continuously. It's now definitely playable for me and although there are still some bugs there is nothing gamebreaking I've come across in the past day.
If you've played ARK, it's easy to pick up as a lot of code comes from that. At least that's so in the starter areas where you're mostly concerned with basic survival techniques. I don't know about the pirate ships part of it yet.
Think of it as a closed alpha/beta testing phase of a new game and you wont be dissappointed.
I wouldn't go expecting much development into this game,if anything i would expect ANOTHER con job trying to sell a DLC for it. Watched Summit1g play for a bit today, first of all the guy has NO CLUE wtf he is talking about but whatever. He was talking about developers need a consultant, umm yeah if they were actually trying to be legit but they are NOT,they are fully aware of what they are releasing for sale, they don't need anyone to tell them.
A mentioned by others this is or was suppose to be an ARK DLC but of course you can make an easier and more sales if panning it off as a NEW GAME. NO it is not a NEW game,it is an ARK mod and using the Early access excuse is rubbish.
Is it worth $8?? Well i feel the average person can no way get anymore than 2-3 weeks maximum then it will be filed away forever or deleted.People are very easily captured by the simplicity of striving towards goals,so build your fort, build your ship, explore the seas...all done.

Depends, if your willing to spend $8 in the knowledge that there may or may not be a game there eventually, then maybe? its worth bearing in mind that the game is Ark with a specific DLC pack, it can only handle 150 players and not 40,000 as advertised, though handle is perhaps overly optimistic currently. In the future, if they continue working on it, it may be worth it, that is the gamble and you have to decide for yourself if its a gamble you want to make or not.

There can be 150 players in ONE area of the world, just like GW2 or SWTOR. The game can actually have 40.000 players at the same time, spread out evenly across the world, it is massive with lots of different areas.
The game is definitely build upon the foundation of Ark but with lots of character development through skill trees so you can create your own class (going cooking personally). Also, the scale of the world makes this much more of an adventure/exploration game then Ark could ever be.
It is most definitely Alpha, although the almost unplayable state has been fixed within 48 hours of release.

Atlas = Ark : Ocean. The recent 'patching' was done to prevent people accessing those menu's, but as always the internet never forgets and there is video evidence out that can't be denied.
As for the 40,000 it totally can't, the limit is 150, it actually has fewer players/server than SW:TOR, even WoW has more players per area than that, adding up multiple servers to get the 40,000 well, fine.. how many servers does WoW have? add them all together and you probably get even more than 40,000 by a hell of a lot.
Wasn't the OP the guys who was asking how many of us old school gamers would be buying it? Or was that a different early access, in other words not fit to play game?

Merry Christmas!
Atlas’ world is many zones, each zone is a seperate server with a 150 player max. But all those servers make up one big world which you can traverse without a loading screen, just some stuttering between servers. In comparison, each WoW server is a seperate world. Atlas works differently.
Merry christmas to you too btw!

No it's not. And the reason is not only because the game is in bad shape, but also because it's a bad idea to encourage developers to make people pay for games in such a pathetic state.
Even though Atlas is currently bad, given how the ark team tries to cheat people when their games get close to 'release' I'd probably buy it. You can always buy a lot worse things for 8 bucks.
The Atlas devs are burning trough the launch issues on a non-stop basis, have only stopped today but will continue working through christmas.
The worse of the server stability is mitigated, the official server software is finally up to setup... Now the devs will focus on iron out the other major bits in the next days.
Atlas is more worth it to me than Ark is, it works quite well once we sail away from the starter nodes then things quite smoother.
I have gotten my $25 worth of fun so I would say for $8 do it. The only thing though its not an mmo so get prepared to do the same thing repeatedly over and over and over and over after every death esp in freeports which are nice as I am no longer non stop attacked by mobs but you lose everything on death even your body so theres no getting your gear off of corpse. Build raft build a bed on raft and a storage container and stow alot.
lol that moment when you come to MMOrpg forum confused with the mixed reviews from people about game so coming here to ask and get mixed review here aswell lol
This game not a EA It's pre alfa build a build usually only being tested within the studio, dunno why they released the game in such a horrid state, they shot themselves in the foot.
If you enjoy survival games, the first five hours is worth $8. After finishing the starter isle, though, the game becomes a very strange animal. The territory control system is terrible unless you like doing duty for a large, 24/7 pvp guild. Or, if you already own Ark, just play that some more and save your $8.
That depends. Do you want to encourage developers to try to sell buggy messes? Or do you want to encourage them to make their games actually work right and offer a more polished experience? Buying Atlas now sends the former message. Vote with your wallet.
I have a lot of survival games already. Some of which I like, have played, and want to play more but haven't been able t return to them because I'm playing other types of game I like more. So for me, I would probably get it if it were free just in case they manage to do something interesting with it. But at this point I wouldn't buy it for 99 cents. But if course that's just me. If you really like those types of games then buy it and let it sit until it's fixed or they write it off, imo.

Some will like it, some wont.
Of course, that might be more fun than Atlas is atm, but the game should improve over the long haul.

Thats the cost of a Mcburger and fries. I'd say anything $10 and under would be an immediate buy for me.
