I know this is going to sound "ranty" but please leave all that WoW drama in WoW. We usually have a peaceful and mature setting, we would like to keep it that way as much as possible. I'm not saying WoW players aren't welcome, just WoW drama isn't welcome. Last night in zone chat there was literally a never ending debate about WoW Lore which turned into WoW guild drama, which turned into the biggest D measuring contest I've ever seen in ESO.
People started spitting out Guild size, gear scores and raid times, guild leaders, etc as if it made their statements more valid, someone mentioned trump, and then that turned into a political battle and I just...here we go.
I have been in ESO since the first closed Beta and I have never seen the shit that happened last night in ESO ever. I actually for the first time had to cut zone off.
I can only say to the WoW players incoming, please remember this is not trade chat. We have fun, we def do have our shares of debates over ESO related things, but they never go as far as personal insults or threats being made. We tend to be very helpful to new players but the rampant racism, political taunts, sexist remarks, toxicity etc.. Please keep all that stuff for WoW. People tend to be more mature in ESO.
I wonder if this is just how it is in MMOs in general, because you have so many people from different walks of life doing one thing. I cant be sure, but I will say ESO was a lot more tame until recently. Again super happy people are coming over to check it out, but please don't bring any wow drama with you. You get to roll a new character.
EDIT: If you need help with your character don't be afraid to ask, people are generally nice. We don't antagonize people for asking questions about Lore, Builds, anything.

I can name 50 MMOs that suck. ESO isn't one of them boss.

True they can do whatever they want but that doesn't mean the people who are inadvertently pulled into their bs shouldn't say anything.
People who think online games are a platform to "do what i want" aren't the only customers.
EDIT: I never said drama doesn't exist in ESO but compared to WoW.. people seem to know how to handle it far better. Again, the biggest influence in WoW seems to be toxic behavior. People there have no problem with it because its normalized there. I'm saying its not that way in ESO and it would be cool to keep it that way

The scenario is usually one where somebody will ask a serious game question and NOBODY answers or wants to be helpful.THEN as soon as someone says anything stupid the entire server erupts and then their guild bands together and becomes a riot war.
Point being it seems that around the time of Wow/eq2 the same time all those immature kids became DSL junkies, gaming became a bad hangout.
In comes the terms like TROLL..HATER..gamer first, guild first, ranking, end game, gear scores, streaming for money,Esport, twitter, reddit yada yada all kinds of crap, everything except the kitchen sink but NOTHING to do with good fun gaming.

ESO - probably - has a lot more EU/US players than WoW though - remember no subscription is needed so I reckon any influx will be easily absorbed.
Either way though there are a lot of good casual guilds in the game - good for starters - as well as more focused guilds that may not give new players the time of day! Join some; turn on guild chat; see if they are for you and if not leave. Same story in most games.
a) you don't know the dungeon or
b) claimed to be a tank but were failing to tank
c) your dps or healing was lower than whatever the group were using to measure stats
you would be kicked. Period.
If you want to play ESO in a casual fashion then you can. Unlike you I won't claim that you won't find some idiot but by and large and on the whole and imo its less likely in my experience of playing both.
Every community has it's fair share of trolls and elitists. You're incredibly naive if you think otherwise. If I had to guess, you saw WoW pop up in your zone chat and it triggered you enough to send you to multiple gaming communities to bitch about it.
Jump on down from that soap box of yours and play your game. Maybe be the more "mature" person and ignore the people that are bugging you.
