So I've tried the "fixed" game. Don't wait for a discount to buy it - wait for *huge* discount. Because:
1) there isn't enough ammo even for 66% shooting uptime - in a game which supposed to be a "looter *shooter*";
This is like The Division 1 all over again - a bug-fest which will take years to improve.
About the ammo running out. I had that problem until a streamer said something that made a lot of sense to me. The game is based on combos so if you try clearing areas without using them you will run out of ammo.
Yeah, it's like mass effect 2, 3, A. Another tip is to focus on killing the lesser mobs first. They die quick and drop ammo + health. Focus on the heavily armored or heavily shielded last. Those are best taken down has a team with combos.
Really? Because your list of complaints indicates that you're having a hard time and dying a lot.
Apparently you've missed the fact how NPCs focus on you when you are the highest DPS person in the group. And most of the time it looked like I was *the only* person doing DPS because the rest of the team struggled with the lack of ammo while I've used combos/abilities/whatever the thing is called which is supposed to replace shooting in the "shooter" game.
Gameplay of the demo is practically soloing in four-man difficulty - unless, of course, you just AFK and drink beer during whole fight to allow your teammates to "enjoy" the process of searching ammo in the middle of shooting :-)
My experience is that mobs target the player in their line of sight. I have not fired a single shot. They will target me the moment I step into line of sight if no one else is in their line of sight.
You are complaining about a game that throws a little bit of a challenge at you. This is your first time playing. You don't know anything about the game, even if you think you do. You would rather play a new game that doesn't feel new, nothing new to learn, no challenge whatsoever. Your teammates are also new to the game. If they are just standing there, it means that they are trying to figure things out, because it's a new game.
With all the people complaining it's just like Destiny. Looks like it's nothing like Destiny at all.
You're just looking to not like the game in any way. Anyone can take that attitude into any other game and say it's bad.
I've already played in teams, random matchmaking teams, that shows the game is way too easy. Never even came close to running out of ammo.
If you played the VIP demo, you don't need to uninstall and download the demo again, but you will need to download an update before you can play the open demo.
They did say that they would be rolling out servers and that people might not be able to get in.
So is the 4 man "manifold" mission the only thing you can do at the start of this? I'd like to kind of get the feel of flying etc. solo before I burden other people with my clumsiness.
Well when i say it looks very weak,i mean it so i have no intentions of playing it and likely ever because it would need way too much work for me to be interested.
To put it in perspective,i was watching a streamer earlier this morning and him and his clan/guild whatever you call them were playing Anthem the other day and finished it and already have no intentions of playing it again unless something new is added. I find it funny because i gave it about a week worth of content but already players finished it in a day.Not that i am surprised,it looked very shallow and with literally nothing to do between fly throughs,it becomes a game of dropping in stations ,finishing the kills and move to next station,there is no in between,just fly over and do nothing.
Of course i already eluded to that design as well.To simply avoid making content,they just gave you flying instead,so you could fly over the many laned tree alleys to avoid the emptiness.
if the dev team did not create this flying mode,everyone would be complaining about the emptiness of land space.What i call this type of design is a SAFE design,don't do too much because if it fails we lose too much invested money.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Jump into free play from the mission select screen and you go into an open world of 4 people of sorts.

This is like The Division 1 all over again - a bug-fest which will take years to improve.
That's a huge insult to The Division 1! I played The Division 1 at launch and it was a 1000 times better than this garbage.
It's just that they screwed up the entire Dark zone with the first big patch that messed up the progression at level 30 with terrible endgame.
But the whole level 1 to 30 experience in The Division 1 was absolutely fantastic and well done. It was just fantastic experience to roam through New York.
I have played this game for about 30 minutes and I had to try really really hard to make it 30 minutes, before I finally just logged off in dusgust. I just couldn't stand it anymore.
I have played a ton of FPS games over the years since Quake, Hexen, UT99, BF1942, etc ... then last years Destiny 1 and 2, The Division 1, Mass Effect trilogy several times over, etc.....yeah I am getting old lol.
…. I seriously don't feel this game AT ALL!
- Continuous load screens all over during missions. Really? Anno 2019 EAWare? /facepalm
- Shooting mechanics, movement controls, terrible ammo balance / abilities cooldowns just makes it a total borefest.
- Frostbite engine = runs like crap. Enough said.
I am so glad I got to try the game this weekend and got all my fears confirmed! Bioware really is no more.
I am glad I did not pre-order, not planning to and now un-installing this game again.
This game is going to be the biggest flop of 2019! So that's the first award EA can collect already this year. Well done!
So is the 4 man "manifold" mission the only thing you can do at the start of this? I'd like to kind of get the feel of flying etc. solo before I burden other people with my clumsiness.
go to freeplay, there you can only play in public matchmaking but its just exploration so you are not in a team
Me and a mate are having a great time. At first, I hated the controls with m+k but after adjusting the settings to my liking, it's manageable. They really need to make m+k work like it does with a controller and not like a flight simulator, or give the option to choose. UI menus are quite cumbersome too.
Doing the expeditions on hard with only two of us is very challenging at certain points.. just the way we like it.
Overall, grabbed Origin Premier for this and don't regret it. If I'm still playing after that runs out, I'll buy it permanently.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thanks yeah I got it going. I don't get all the negative coming down in these forums for this one. Feels like it's going to be fun. Are there issues? Of course it's new. Can they be overcome? I have no doubt and I do like the flying part
So I've tried the "fixed" game. Don't wait for a discount to buy it - wait for *huge* discount. Because:
1) there isn't enough ammo even for 66% shooting uptime - in a game which supposed to be a "looter *shooter*";
2) abilities have cooldowns which are too long and you are forced into shooting - without enough ammo! (see #1)
3) if you know what to do (i.e. shoot the boss into vulnerable spots instead of armored spots) - you'll get 100% aggro from all NPCs and will be dead in seconds;
4) if you are dead then you can stay dead for the whole length of the encounter;
4.5) you can literally either die voluntarily (and stay dead) or Alt+F4 out of boss fight then reconnect and sit behind closed door for the whole "fight" - while your team mates handle everything;
5) mobs spawn in an inaccessible spots and snipe you forever during fights preventing any form of regeneration;
6) mission items bug out and aren't active when you are required to pick them up;
7) boss spawn on top of you and insta-kill you;
etc. etc. etc.
This is like The Division 1 all over again - a bug-fest which will take years to improve.
I'm sold... you are really good at this.
Downloaded origin just now and started downloading the game I hope it's as half as good as you describe it, will know in an hour once it's downloaded. Really hyped after reading your post
There is no problem with ammo, period. I don't know what 3dom is doing to run out of ammo but I am not having that problem at all.
You have two weapons.. you will run out but you switch to your second and by the time you're even half way through your second weapon's ammo you have fully filled your primary again.
No issues. Don't be thinking it will be a problem for you.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
I had a lot more fun on freeroam simply because I can go at my own rate. They do need a mini map and system announcements like when a world event is activated. More location icons on the map after you discover something. I'm willing to play it for solo play and storyline but will wait to see how launch goes. I played today and got put in a couple of matches just as they were ending. One, restart the game during loading screen. One server disconnect. I heard somewhere they were adding running in town, that will be nice.
So people don't run out of ammo with that sniper rifle that has four rounds? Anyone care to share their M/K settings?

Nah, they've done the right thing by not showing the world events on the map. It stops people farming them (that's probably the main reason). It stops masses of people doing them and making them trivial. You have to actively find them, proper exploring, instead of just following map markers. I hope they don't change it.
.. and that sniper is obviously a situational weapon. If you're running with that in a casual loadout then it's no surprise you'll run out. There are plenty of other snipers you can use.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
This is how I set my aim and flight settings to make it feel less like a flight simulator (they improved this anyway in the release version, apparently):
I'll probably put the Swim Sensitivity up to 100% too.. but I haven't done much of it so didn't bother.
I also found that if you want to do a sharp turn when flying it's far easier to hit your flight button, quickly face the way you want to go and press the flight button again.. instead of trying to turn while flying. Disable and enable flight, basically.
I have my 3 skills and Ultimate on extra mouse buttons.
E to interact
F for melee
Tab for map
I don't think I changed anything else.

finished all the demo missions solo , only had to put the giant robot mission on easy because after 3 trys it was too much , tons of adds , the boss that doesnt stop firing , ugh....and wanted to hit 12 to play as Storm
Flying was expecting a much worse as ranger , and maybe better on storm , its "okis" , the transition flying/swimming ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
love that skills are low CD , all the ultimates look cooool , killed the spider boss x3 good upgrades , did some free roam , and had tons of fun.
HOWEVER , thats all the game has for it , outside new bosses ,gameplay is solid , but dunno if enough to keep me interested , tried tons of "skills" (cool that u can change that with items)
there is some depth with combos , and i think new skills , weapons and whatnot will come , is fun ...but the questions is for "how long?"
People that keep saying it is Destiny 2 all over again are omitting one thing. This one is 3rd person. That is a deal-maker for some of us who can't handle 1st person. Ideally I would like to pull the camera out more in this game as well.

Destiny 2 drives me insane when i run out of green and purple ammo and mobs decide to only drop white ammo.
I think Anthem (and The Division) did it much better.
EDIT: They really need to add running inside of town. Slow walking everywhere is a bit ridiculous.
You sure? Download is done, i press PLAY and.. nothing happens.
My experience is that mobs target the player in their line of sight. I have not fired a single shot. They will target me the moment I step into line of sight if no one else is in their line of sight.
