Yeah but is it casual overpowering? I can't spend more than 20 mins in game a day and want to be godlike. :D

It boggles my mind that people even play games in which people can quite literally P2W.  I just don't know why people bother.
Because people love to dump money into their hobbies.  They don't look at these things as exactly "competitive", and certainly don't feel one way or the other about "earning" anything.

D2 taught me how much people love to dump cash on games.  D3 confirmed it, as did SWG.  Some of the mobile games I've played as of late have showed me just how much more money people are willing to dump in....more than I ever imagined possible.

As unpopular of an opinion as I'm sure it is to be around here...I fully believe the last 10 years of mmo dark ages is a direct result of mechanics that limit player trade, and take away the motivation to play such games.  As another thread in this forum so well states...."What's the point?"  When games are made for the minority (and I assure you the people focused on "earning" stuff in a game are the minority)...then one shouldn't be surprised when most players aren't interested.

We need a dev who unabashedly embraces the human greed aspect of these kind of games, and fully embraces a loot focused long term approach game that not only allows but encourages player trade, including real money.  That dev will make an absolute fortune.

    Welcome to the boards! :)

And yes your view is about as polar opposite of mine as possible, but you are still welcome!

In Forsaken World, my guild (GUILD!  We had 21 people there, all were at or near the level cap) took almost 12 minutes to kill one guy.   During that time he got somewhere between 60 and 70 kills on us, many were one shot AoEs.

After 4 months of hard work to get better, and with a raise in the level cap, we went back into PvP and 18 of us at the new level cap of 90 could not scratch, much less kill, an opposing tank.  After some calculations by several of our guild members, we realized it would take spending about $700-$1200 real world dollars each (!) to get enough improvements just to get in the same tier as that tank.  Same tier, meaning 4-6 of us might be able to kill him.

Talk about pay to win!  Right after we did those calculations, most of us quit the game and started playing ESO.
Got to love those F2P games.  Why people didn't see this as the basic end result the moment the first F2P game released in the West I don't know. I sure as hell did. The majority of players thought, and some still think, the concept was the greatest thing ever.  I'm guessing that the majority of PC gamers are just broke ass young adults and kids.

I had an insanely overpowered character in SWG (soon after launch). So they nerfed my build.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

    Hello :)

So, i have been working on info about which mmo's are most balanced ones, pvp-wise ,so its fair enough to find out are there any, and which mmorpg players thing have the greatest possibility of becoming much more powerfull than average players, or most players in that mmo.

Whats top dog, most OP, most unbalanced, mmo for laughably strong gear or skill difference alike?

Parietes non sunt It can be a story, a tip, screenshot, situation, anything you recall about the subject :)

all games with cash shop and unbalanced, its better ask what games was balanced, because seriously, I can't remember, maybe aion during the p2p epoch, UO,....

of course i'm basing on what happen when you get to cap and do your things, with minimal effort and you are not HK on sight
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

PvP in LOTRO has been historically pretty bad.
I've not played in a couple of years.

During some 'updates' a Warden could kill entire packs of Creep players (the bad guys) without breaking a sweat.  This would shift from one Freep class (the good guys) to the other as development went forward.

One day I ran by a Warden with my Warg and tagged him for fun - and I kept running, only hitting him with one attack - and before I could get out of range he hit me with two bleeds that ended up killing me in a matter of seconds.  (I was a rank 12 warg at the time - one of the highest ranked and best equipped wargs on the server)

    That was when I quit.

I don't know what they've done with the game since then, and frankly, after waiting years for some kind of balance I don't really care.

Gaming is a relatively inexpensive hobby compared to some other ones.  Hardware tends to last a very long time now and if you buy top of the line, it will be useful even longer.

I had a very stressful job once.  I'd come home and blow off steam by going into GTA 3, going to the bridge that was glitched, in that no one would ever actually try to go on the bridge to get you so you could just start shooting everyone.  First the police came, then SWAT, then the FBI, then the army came with tanks, but no one entered the bridge and it made great cover.  That moment of invincibility actually helped me to deal with that job and was healthier then drinking a lot which was what some of my fellow workers did.

I hate to derail the thread but this comment summarizes one of my major frustrations with the gaming community at this time.  Even at $20 per month a game is a huge entertainment bargain and yet thanks to people freakin' out over such tiny sums of money we now have the FTP/PTW apocalypse.

I guess, Guild Wars 2 or Lineage 2 Classic. In both gems matter a lot.
  • AmazingGamingAmazingGaming Member CommonPosts: 9
Yeah, in Lineage 2 Classic you can become the overpowered one but anyway you will need a lot of efforts and time. The game is quite balanced tho and you cannot win 1 vs 5 no matter how boosted up are you.

There are many games out there that enable you to become overpowered if you bring out your inner wallet warrior, just try Archeage!  :p

I like games where you become overpowered with your skill, not your gear. RF Online is a great example of that, me and my party are owning the new server Zucker

All the chances have the oldest games in the industry, such as Lineage 2, WoW or Aion
But I'm sure that overcrowded servers are not good for serious gaming

In Chronicles of Elyria you can spend $10,000 to buy yourself a Kingdom and then tens of thousands of dollars more to buy advantages for it.  You get to create laws that everyone in your kingdom have to follow.  Even people who only spent a few thousand to buy lesser titles like Duke or Count.  That’s kind if the ultimate PvP right?  Order someone killed and take their property/land?

Now... so far there is no actual game... so not sure if this counts on the list yet.

On crowded servers it's nearly impossible to play. Incidentally I now in search of a new server for Lineage 2
