@klash...these replies are just trolling you at this point. I get what you were trying to say. I might hit you up for some pointers in game too. Thank you.
I know this is going to sound "ranty" but please leave all that WoW drama in WoW. We usually have a peaceful and mature setting, we would like to keep it that way as much as possible. I'm not saying WoW players aren't welcome, just WoW drama isn't welcome. Last night in zone chat there was literally a never ending debate about WoW Lore which turned into WoW guild drama, which turned into the biggest D measuring contest I've ever seen in ESO.
People started spitting out Guild size, gear scores and raid times, guild leaders, etc as if it made their statements more valid, someone mentioned trump, and then that turned into a political battle and I just...here we go.
I have been in ESO since the first closed Beta and I have never seen the shit that happened last night in ESO ever. I actually for the first time had to cut zone off.
I can only say to the WoW players incoming, please remember this is not trade chat. We have fun, we def do have our shares of debates over ESO related things, but they never go as far as personal insults or threats being made. We tend to be very helpful to new players but the rampant racism, political taunts, sexist remarks, toxicity etc.. Please keep all that stuff for WoW. People tend to be more mature in ESO.
I wonder if this is just how it is in MMOs in general, because you have so many people from different walks of life doing one thing. I cant be sure, but I will say ESO was a lot more tame until recently. Again super happy people are coming over to check it out, but please don't bring any wow drama with you. You get to roll a new character.
EDIT: If you need help with your character don't be afraid to ask, people are generally nice. We don't antagonize people for asking questions about Lore, Builds, anything.
You do realize that it is very unlikely that a player who is currently playing ESO has not played WoW, right? The drama going on in WoW is ongoing, always. It is not new. I don't think it is fair to call out players from an entire game who just happen to also be playing your game just because you had a bad experience one time. ESO is also not some special snowflake of community; I don't understand why some people look at certain games that way. People think of GW2 the same way. I think most MMOs have a few bad apples that make a bad experience stand out, but in general they are usually pretty fine. Even in WoW. Don't pretend your game is more "mature" just because general chat is fine or whatever.
I'm sure if you put it to a vote of which game has the worst / most immature / most toxic online gaming community, that even with the amount of WoW players there are, it'd still get voted as #1.
But we will never know that for sure, as it is completely based on one's perspective. The amount of toxicity in a game is also purely subjective, as most people have different levels of tolerance for it. For example, I don't find people being passive aggressive about a player's performance in a given scenario very toxic, but some people might. Personally, I found DOTA 2 to be the worst online community, but that is purely based on my experience of under 10 games / me being terrible at it. I could talk about how certain friends had the same experience or whatever, but that doesn't really reflect the community at large.
lol I can tell who are WoW fan boys by some of these comments. I think some of you are more mad at the fact wow players are leaving to play other games than you want to admit publicly.
"WoW is fine all MMOs have bad apples." True but is it fair to say WoW has more Bad Apples on average and maybe that has something to do with more people playing WoW? So is it possible that a lot of those bad apples could be hopping into other games? Games like ESO?
No? Okay lets point the finger at the guy who observed several WoW players argue for an hour in ESO. This is fine. And no it wasnt one time. The time I talked about was the worse offensive but its been happening more and more lately and its for sure something to do with WoW players joining up which again nobody has an issue with.
Stop acting like I said ESO is special. I never said that, you forced that on my words. I said something very simple and plain. WoW players we are happy to see you, (more players in game is a objectively good thing.) but please leave wow drama at the door (wow drama in eso is objectively bad) please feel welcome and don't be afraid to ask questions you wont be antagonized for asking things (unlike in wow where there is a high chance of someone saying stfu newb or straight up getting no answer, or being told to look it up with their nose turned up)
Stop trying to make a issue out thin air because you want to force your view of what I said on me. I said several times my meaning so "go look it up"
"ESO is also not some special snowflake of community" - That must be how you REALLY feel because I never said that. It is a very mature community compared to WoW imo but I never said it was special.

Personally I don't play WoW and have not in a long time, I don't have any reason to defend it. I am more like, attacking the culture of "my game has a mature community and yours doesn't because of a bad experience one time". I can tell you are emotionally invested in this, however, and we would just argue on circles...so you do you.

and that's your perception of what I wrote not what i actually wrote nor meant but I think you know this. But since you mentioned it yes, for me Objectively ESO crowd is more mature than WoW crowd and it could be a simple fact that more players are in WoW so more chances for bad apples. (Shit I think I said that exact line in this thread 4 times) I never said WoW doesn't have ANY mature players.
Also I wrote about the worst time not the first time or only time. Just the worst occurrence of it. I know you came here looking for a fight but you sir will find none here.

They are going to talk about WoW in every mmorpg because wow is the standard to which all mmorpg are compared to. Also ESO sucks compared to WoW, it really does, it can be said well that's just your opinion, but it's also just a matter of fact.
They won't stay in ESO long........... totally different type of game..... and IMO, sucks.
Maybe they wont stay long, but I don't think its because it "sucks." That's a stong stance to take on ESO. It's has its flaws but "sucks" isn't one of them.
I can name 50 MMOs that suck. ESO isn't one of them boss.
Sucking is subjective so really one man/gal's sucking is another man/gal's heaven...
Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

The fact that you had to explain the premise above is hilarious.
The OP expects to be taken seriously, yet cannot grasp novel concepts like people having a difference of opinion.

Nothing left to see here, folks.
really? interesting! Because it seems to me that you are the one who cant grasp novel concepts like people having a difference of opinion. I'm very curious why you feel the need to insult my intelligence when I've done nothing but as you say indulge in the novel concepts of Debate and opinion giving.
furthermore he didn't have to explain anything, nobody asked him. Same way nobody asked me to give my opinion. That's how conversations work. Don't try to act like he taught me something, he didn't teach me a damn thing, he did what I did which was leave his opinion. He is free to do so.
Its amazing how certain people really think they are being bright by leaving half ass remarks that make no sense and are totally out of context and off the rails.

I've got to say that I found the ESO community to be absolutely toxic. I don't think I've ever blocked so many people in a game before. Worse than any experience I've ever had in WoW. (No, I'm not playing WoW right now.. or ESO).
Not that I really care either way. I just chuckle and get on with my own business when someone is being ridiculous. Let people do what they want to do, you don't have to get involved and you gain nothing from doing so anyway.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Same here, whenever I did dungeons it usually resulted in people getting really upset after a while if there were any wipes at all. It doesn't help that most dungeons are poorly balanced, but some are pretty fun. I personally consider ESO more of a solo / duo game though with some okay PvP attached in AvA. Not really a good game for a long term commitment imo...
Why do folks behave like "their game" ( ) has some exclusive community? It's the same people guys. Just different names FFS.
"WoW players are welcome" really?
If an MMORPG does not have at least 2 blowout conversations about WoW, Alienware computers, or "You know why they call Xbox 360, 360 right?" your the chat serer is down.
I don't know what transformation ESO had since the first year, but I recall all that in ESO.
Yes. WoW Players are welcome. You have a problem with that? That's a personal problem if so. There is nothing wrong with saying WoW Players are welcome. They are. Welcome. I'm really confused about why you want to take something nice and turn it into something else.
There are a bunch of people who never played anything but WoW and are coming over to ESO.
smh, man some people here have a real issue with trying to always invalidate something. foh. What I said was valid and based on my observation. If you don't like it then tough shit, idk what to tell you. You are free to disagree but it doesn't change anything for me.
Like I said. I'm only talking about the toxic type of behavior that is super normalized in WoW it was never at this level in ESO and maybe its as simple as there are more people now so more chances to to see it. I'm confused why people are trying to act like its not possible or its wrong to point it out. Its my observation. Why do yall get so butthurt when people make observations. You aren't going to change my mind bro. I saw what I saw, and I expressed myself.
EDIT: and NO, its not all the same people. As I said, there are people who are WoW lifetime players that have never played ESO. How long have you been playing MMOs? You really want to pretend like you don't know that certain games have dedicated "Exclusive" communities? There are people who played WoW exclusively that are now playing ESO. So yes, these games have Exclusive communities.
The issue is a bunch of people who play a game, behaving like people who played another game are guests in THEIR game. The other thing is this revisionist take on the ESO community. Everything you're claiming issue with is stuff that was there from launch day just like any other MMORPG. I can't speak on what the environment is like now but yeah... You were in a bar during off-season and are now salty because people who go to bars started showing up and doing what bar patrons normally do.
Saying "WoW players are welcome" in the context you did, is like standing in a national park saying "Sneaker wearers have our blessing to be here".
Lastly, just because a person plays a game exclusively doesn't mean that game is exclusive to them.
Agree. ESO is new on the block. WoW peaked at over 10M users.
Where do you think any of these games are getting their players.
There is no such thing as WoW players. The OP probably played WoW himself, so he fits the description.
Almost everyone in the MMORPG market was a WoW player at some time or another. And I bet almost all of us have done our fair share of trolling (even if we won't admit it :-P ). It's the internet. Anonymity gives us a lot of power to do the types of things we wouldn't do in real life.
I also find it ironic how the OP is being absolutely obnoxious on the forums to other players, but claims they're the ones doing it in ESO!!! LMMFAO.

You're missing some context then as to why almost every other MMO is the way it is. It's one thing to read about how influential it has been but quite another to experience it first hand and then play other MMOs and notice the many similarities.

Probably couldn't afford it.
And some people will blatantly lie and say they didn't, because they think it makes them special, when all it does is make them clueless when they start talking about how they're "glad they missed that boat."
What boat? You don't even know what you're talking about, if you've never played the game.
Judging WoW by the various awful clones that have come out is... not very convincing... There's a reason why WoW still has millions of players, and almost all of those clones are literally dead, or dead but in denial.
He also seems incapable of differentiating between the terms "Almost" and "Absolutely." His reply was completely worthless and added nothing to the discussion. It just proves that you don't have to be a WoW player to have that type of personality.
Just ignore the drama (block the chat...etc) and just enjoy the influx of players that are bringing more money into a game you like to play. More money means more improvements to the game.

Games that have PVP do tend to have more than their fair share of players with antagonistic personalities, its just one of the hazards you have to accept exist and deal with, blocking them is probably the only real option, although one of the 'good' things about ESO is that because of the megaserver thing, you probably won't encounter them too often as the players in a given instance has a high degree of churn the more people are playing.

Also I wrote about the worst time not the first time or only time. Just the worst occurrence of it. I know you came here looking for a fight but you sir will find none here.

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The OP expects to be taken seriously, yet cannot grasp novel concepts like people having a difference of opinion.
Nothing left to see here, folks.
furthermore he didn't have to explain anything, nobody asked him.

Not that I really care either way. I just chuckle and get on with my own business when someone is being ridiculous. Let people do what they want to do, you don't have to get involved and you gain nothing from doing so anyway.
LMMFAO.

New ESO meme - Blame it on the ex-WoW newbies.
