I play MMORPGs because I'm an RPG player. Playing a real RPG is always superior to a MMORPG, but you only play during your game sessions so I love a good MMORPG too. 5e is pretty damn decent and has brought life back into D&D. Now we just need life brought back to MMORPGs.
When a company advertises the new content in their cash shop as part of the expansion ... it's not the game I'll play.
You stay sassy!
Now i wish they just made the graphics for DDO better.
You can see my sci-fi/WW2 book recommendations.
I don't mind actually paying to play a game. I think sometimes we think that we should just be able to get it for free. That mentality is really hurting MMOs and the US.
Probably a rant, and yes I'm sitting on my front porch telling people to get off my lawn, but if a game is F2P they should have some type of way to get monetary support. For games that are B2P or have a subscription I would prefer no cash shop, but if there is one I am fine with cosmetic stuff, especially if there is a way to get it in game.
It is, the aniversary is up, so some goddies will be delivery. And if you need some tips ill be happy to help.
There is some serious power-ups they sell in the store, but I am not going to call it P2W as it is a purely PvE game, so there is no winning, in fact getting into a group with someone that bought power just makes the dungeon go faster, as you get the same rewards if you got carried or led the charge, so, there is no winning and losing in that regard.
This game is raid heavy, and requires team work, and there is no a lot of hand holding here, couple that with the fact this game has a very complex and dynamic character creation process, by far one of the most complex I have seen in any game, so there are tons of choices and due to this, it's very easy to make bad choices and gimp yourself.
The graphics are dated, this game was made in 2005, and it really shows it's age in the graphics department. Like you can see the polygon lines and painted on eyes and such, kind of dated,
Honestly, if you are an old school DnD Fan, this game might really be a gem to check out, but, keep in mind, it's old, it's been under several managers and directors, it was sold off by Turbine to Standing Stone, and the game really shows that it had a lot of chefs in the pot, sort to speak.
Turbine is now WB Games Boston and works on a few mobile games.
That little bit of history aside, I stand by everything I have said about the game
It's the same devs moved to a new studio, with the same game(s). Those were the ones interested in continuing work on those titles. There is some changes related to the change in publisher too though.
