A new feature somewhat similar to "try before you buy" has entered Black Desert Online. Players can have up to three Trial Characters on their account that offers a high-level experience in Battle Arena, Red Battlefield, Arena of Arsha and Savage Rift. These Trial Characters come with 4,000 Skill Points and a special Battle Arena NPC offers a variety of gear for a single silver each.

    No, it was never f2p.  They have run promotions where you can get the game for free.  For example they have some pvp thing going on where you can access/play the game for free for a couple of weeks and if you kill 9 other players in some pvp thing, they will unlock the full game for free.

    B2P but standard edition on PC and Xbox is like $9.99.

    Perhaps they should just add a class switch to the game - like it's done in Skyforge. Or boost leveling speed tenfold past level 56 because 2-3% of level per hour of mind-numbing mobs farm isn't exactly inspiring.

    Wouldn't really change much for new players, because you'd be still very much gear limited. Sure you get few more skills/slightly stronger skills with levels past 56, but if you are stuck with crap gear that won't help you all that much.
