I have no problem paying a monthly fee.... IF there is no pay to win and gets regular updates, fixes, real content ,server stability... Been burned too many times. And they could never charge that in the beginning. If they do ,no one will ever know if it was good! I want to play it. I want to love it. But that's a far away dream it this point.
I have to say this,it looks a million times better than i thought it ever could.Visually it looks hmm 7/10 fair enough?
Functionally i need to see a lot more work as there is basically no functionality to the world. If actual monorail cars are put into the game...great.If some buildings are given doors insides ,i expect that in a game i play because i could make a similar 2048x512 block and paste it with a window texture myself with little effort at all.
I do see some architecture work, mostly circles and squares but like i said it is done well enough.
There is just soooo much that has to go into a game to make it a game.Superhero costumes are not nearly enough for me.I actually detest the effort gone into every super hero game so far,yes even the most recent Spiderman was atrocious.
I would not give a single one of them a passing grade ,not even a 5/10.Big shoes to fill,i don't think so,i feel more like modern tech and a serious developer could EASILY pass those games.Everything to date ahs simply been fast cash grabs ,banking on the licensing of known heroes.I assume this game is going to be using unique heroes which is a good thing for the games potential,no added costs to dilute the product.Nothing like....hey let's just make a half assed game and slap Spiderman on the cover,it'll sell for sure.
Is this game near to ready,no way, like i said, a hero and a world does not make a game.Another aspect is it could use some npc's walking around with limited AI script.obviously sounds and other animations to bring the world to life, otherwise it doesn't actually feel like a world.
I'll stop there, if it continues to come along like this, maybe there is hope for this game, just needs more time.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
As we hear the dev guy in the video talking about breaking up the color,he is obviously seeing what we see as a player and trying to do the simple things to make it look more appealing.
The two clowns reviewing TESo were going on raving about how great TESo looks when the entire scenes were black..brown and that was it,look anywhere and all you see is brown/black and that is sad for two guys making a living from game reviews to claim that looks AMAZING.So it was nice to hear this guy talking about aesthetics and breaking up the colors,i see all those small things in game design even if he didn't mention it,i would see it.
I actually see everything because i know how to make a game,i see lighting, lighting effects,i see small things in grass, textures, even the SKY,yep the sky is an area i doubt even 1% understand what is going on there.
Point being,i hope this guy keeps working on the game in a way that a beady eye is watching, there is potential ,don't blow it.

Surely at least one of the three or four spiritual successors will hit the mark......
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
I get what you mean, but I think it's an interesting premise. Just think of it as being in different zones of Paragon City.
I liked Wizardry's comments about how to build a game. The CEO agrees with him. There are a lot of facets of a game that need to be built in, and he is trying to do them altogether, so they will work properly together. Why build all of the animations at the beginning only to find that they do not work with the game physics? There is plenty of room to sharpen animations because they know that what they have will work in the game.
Right now the team is working on an Invasion event that may play over a few weekends, and the Character Creator Tool ver2 for a beta. I am very much looking forward to both. The team wants to let players built a character in the CCT that they can use for future testing, like the Invasion event and Random Mission Generator testing. So if you are following the game, watch for the CCT beta test, as everything else will be flowing like water in a river after that.
Before the end of the year they want to get the supporters beta running, and they want that as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it takes money to build these types of projects and this should get them what they need to finish. HOWEVER, they are not going to put a garbage project out for the masses to try. There is a difference between unfinished and junk, and the team wants the game at the proper place before they begin bringing in lots of players to try it out.
The world is going to the dogs, which is just how I planned it!
