In what game did you enjoy healing most, and why?

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Overwatch, because it actually helps win matches.

Other than that, Everquest because people were (usually) very thankful to have help back then. I feel like today healer is thankless at best and scapegoat at worst.

For MMOs, I enjoyed healer classes in FFXIV, and also WoW's healing classes have quite different playstyles.  I'd go with one of those.

FFXIV definitely for me. You had to remove the debuffs that could kill and not just heal and had to pay attention a lot.

I do like the healing classes in FFXIV. I don't like that the community judges you more on your basis to DPS (and not let anyone die).

WoW is even more guilty, as they will pull out the DPS meters and gear score - at least they aren't that bad about it on FFXIV. But they are bad enough...

FFXIV. When I started playing WoW a few months ago I tried to play a healer first and people expected someone experianced. Which makes sense given how long the game is out. I am not one also that watches Youtube videos of how  to do certain bosses  and how to play a class. So I rerolled a Warlock and I love it.
When I play MMORPG games I am almost always a Tank, but umm Lock is my dirty little secret in a couple of games. No idea why but, I won't play any other finger waggler lock just usually appeals to me. Maybe it's because I can finally get a group to do what I need them to do lol.

    Anyway, Enjoy.

I am really considering giving FFXIV a go, do the dungeons require a proper group or is it a "nice to have" but you can solo everything?

If you want a new idea, go read an old book.

In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.

FFXIV is pretty much it. Not WoW. I'm a Priest in WoW and never healed which says how much I like WoW Healing.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Currently, ESO Warden is a good healer but nearly any class can use the healing line effectively.  Nightblade/Vamp can heal very well by spamming it's two main life draining abilities.

GW2 Druid was good at healing but I haven't spec it in awhile, as a few other classes now has some pretty good healing skills.

My favorite healers were in Lineage 2 as they had a huge cornucopia of healing skills and healing classes to choose from base on the situation.

I also loved Aion Chanters for their buffing and heals.

Rift had a mage healer, the Chloromancer, that was my favorite in any MMO.

Minstrel in LotRO, before Orion (the current state is still ok, but not as much fun)
As Viper said the Chloro in Rift is fun too.

A bit surprised, nobody said Bear Shamans (AoC) yet... helluva fun to play, and not just a healbot (none of AoC's healers are, actually) but a full support class with debuffs, damage, even a bit of off-tank as well if needed.
The best part is the very concept however, the melee dps healer, bashing in skulls while keeping the party alive

A few times I played a healer because I could save money on not buying healing potions. :)

    Vanguard

    - There was four classes. Cleric got five subclasses, Shaman three.

    - These played very differently. Cleric was the tanky healer (as expected), Shaman was debuffer etc (Bear Shaman was also very tanky, and combined with their much better damage output, they became a sort of godmode, too), Disciple was Vanguards god mode (great defense, great offense, insane amount of targeted healing, and they started godlike while Shaman had to work for it), and Blood Mage dealt the really sweet amounts of damage.

    - Healers rocked in party.

    - Healers rocked while solo.

Couldnt have been nicer, I dont think.

Had the additional benefit that there never was a shortage of healers in Vanguard.

I have never played a healer.

The game where I most needed and appreciated healers was EQ.

I have to say Global Agenda. But it first was a hub based "mmo" but later became more of an MMO, like Warframe. Otherwise I would say World of Warcraft is a faithful pick.

It would be easier to find a game that is not as enjoyable to play a healer. I also think that most people commented on playing a PvE healer, as opposed to a PvP one (well, apart from the Overwatch mention).

I can't readily pick a game that does it best, since most games that employ the trinity tend to employ good healing mechanics. I suppose that a more interesting question would be about which game features the best support class.

Lotro's Minstrel. Blue trait tree, blue line. Yeah, as a Minstrel you would be expected to heal, not DPS in groups.

Pretty much every game I've played a healer. (except Guildwars 2)

Best games I've enjoyed myself as a healer:
    World of Warcraft
    Tera
    Rift
    LotRO
    Vanguard

In ESO, SW:TOR and Neverwinter I felt lacking as a healer. Maybe because it was too much gear depending? Fully heal specced and never being able to keep up the group.

Healing in Darkfall was interesting (and expensive). First you needed a lot of time and reagent to level up your healing. Plus you would carry reagents to heal with you in a full loot game. Try to manual target people in an ungoing whackfest, I have healed the enemy on a few occasions.

Bandaging in Ultima Online was fun too. Not truly healing, but your clan members would love you nevertheless.

I do like to play the unconventional healers in tabletop games. Currently playing a warlock healer in D&D 5e campaign. My first healer, a priest, was in AD&D 2e. Based on that experience I played my first healer in my first mmorpg (WoW).

Early Rift as Chloromancer and early Warhammer Online as a Warrior Priest. Both for the same reason: I like healing others as procs from the damage I do.
