It’s been a while since I played Albion Online, probably almost since launch if I’m being honest. But what I’ve found since trying the game this week is a much-improved experience. Now that Albion Online is F2P, is it worth giving a shot? The answer is yes, but with a few caveats.

Maybe I'll check back eventually but it seems like they prepared poorly for F2P launch that they had established a fair amount of time to set-up.
You to get back to city and take the blue portal and do expedition which is a solo instance and there you can do the boss quest no problem .
It means that now any kid ( among thousands that can play for free now ) and not to mention chinese farmers and so on - with much more time than you. Will have higher lvl characters and will gank people left and right.
The game was gank fest before, now it will be ridicilous gank hell. Nobody normal will be able to play it.
I'm sure many do. I'm not one of them. I'm more of a PvE and occasional "for funsies" PvPer. I planned to play this for PvE and PvP with guildies by my side for cargo runs and such. Ah well, the quest credit fiasco ruined it. Still desperately waiting for a solid MMORPG to come out that I can sink my teeth into...haven't had one since Rift, Tera and GW2.
I can see this being a serious problem in the future. Why they didn't just do a fresh start server for ftp and players that have asked for restarts for years.. Seems like a missed opportunity and decision that may cost them paying players.
IMO that 7k queue seems like a ploy to get people to purchase premium. It says everywhere on their site "play with 200k players" and the active pop before ftp was no where near that so why can't another 7k people join? Looks fishy to me but on the other hand the entire server was lagged out yesterday so who knows.
It won't matter. Lets see how many stick around to play it during the summer. Games like this just don't last.
other than those, believe me, 9/10 people will attack you on sight, 1 being a true farmer and a carebear, which is rare in Albion.
This game was destined to be good and fun with the open world and full player economy, but the full loot pvp destroyed it, and economy becomes so unbalance that only top 5 alliances control all the market.
So What Now?
I think the developers had some good ideas but in the current format it is unappealing. If they ever make a full 3D mmo with less (or zero) emphasis on large guild dominance I would probably take a look.
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
