    Hello!

The latest update for Gloria Victis introduces the fully overhauled Mereley and the reputation system, as well as changes to the combat system which greatly improve the combat dynamics!

Redesigned Mereley, the main settlement of Ismirs, greatly improves the experience of newcomers who chose to play this nation. Not only does the location fit better to the Ismirs, gruesome warriors from the rocky and frosty North, but also impress the players with its scale and diversity – combined massive fort, plundered village and fishing docks are more than thrice larger than the old Mereley! To present the scale of the location, brand new Gloria Victis trailer featuring this massive settlement has been released!

    https://www.youtube.com/embed/OIkiUb7Arqs

Another great addition is implementation of the reputation system. Reputation reflects various actions performed by players – for example, partaking in events will increase it, while oppressing the player’s countrymen will have a negative impact. Actions affect the character’s social status, giving players a chance to earn a noble title for themselves – or to be banished and marked as an outlaw who would eventually get the redemption through the hard work in supporting their nation. In the nearest future the system will be expanded with more actions being included, as well as implementing the heroes system, which will reward players who, at a time, have served their nation the best and will be able to inspire their countrymen, as well as to initialize events for an entire nation on their own.

And last but not least – basing on the feedback received from our players, we have greatly improved the combat dynamics by reducing the input latency and synchronizing the powerbar loading times with the actual attacks animations. Bowshooting mechanics have also been modified, so the distance of the arrow’s flight depends on the bow draw power – thanks to this archery became even more skill-based!

Moreover, another significant update has been applied today, introducing the reworked PVP looting system, as well as an expansion of the reputation system and numerous important gameplay tweaks. Changes done to the looting system bring to life few important suggestions received from the players themselves, such as adjusting the looting times so the archers can make it to the corpses of the defeated enemies.

Expansion of the reputation system introduce the new factor which affect the character’s fame, making the player’s actions even more meaningful. It also includes a penalty for the public enemies of each nation: banishment with binding their characters to a respawn point in the wilderness.

    Changelog v.0.5.8 Alpha

    Combat system:

    – Improved the combat system – allowed players to perform fast, weaker attacks, significantly increasing the combat smoothness and dynamics
    – Shorten loading times of powerbar, so they better fit the actual attacks animations
    – Made distance of arrow’s flight dependent on the bow draw power

    Gameplay:

    – Finished the overhaul of Mereley, main settlement of Ismirs – after a complete redesign of the fort on a hill and implementation of fishing docks and a plundered village, an entire location is more than 3x bigger!
    – Implemented the first version of the reputation system, which reflects the action performed by players – partaking in events increases reputation, while fighting countrymen reduces it, in effect affecting the character’s social status; in the nearest future the system will be improved with adding new actions, electing the heroes from each nation and penalties and rewards related to the social status
    – Modified locations claiming mechanics – to start capturing a location, you have to interact with a flag; movement or death of character interrupts claiming and flag slowly comes to the original position; in future this solution will allow guilds to claim locations for themselves
    – Added displaying the coat of arms of the guild of player who captured a location on the banners in controlled locations

    Fixes:

    – PVP loot is back!
    – Fixed an issue causing that event resources were duplicated
    – Minor fixes to user interface

    Changelog v. 0.5.8.1

    Reputation system:

    – Added separated respawn point for characters with the “Public enemy” status
    – Expanded actions affecting reputation with claiming and upgrading the locations
    – Adjusted the point limits for specific statuses and the amount of points earned for performing specific actions
    – Fixed earning points for fighting the NPC enemies
    – Fixed calculating the time of penalty for traitors
    – Fixed earning reputation for contribution in events
    – Fixed displaying of symbols of the social statuses

    PVP looting system:

    – Added displaying of the amount of required looting points on the icons of items
    – Added ability to remove the selected items from the looting queue
    – Improved the interaction with the corpses of defeated players
    – Minor fixes and improvements to the system’s interface

    Fixes:

    – Fixed an issue causing that after claiming or upgrading a location the gates were invisible until a player relogged
    – Replaced the game files hosting with a more efficient one – everyone, who used to experience problems with the download transfer, please confirm if the change is helpful
    – Fixed an issue causing that the guild’s coat of arms was not displayed in the first session after joining a guild

    Greetings!

Today’s update for Gloria Victis expands the available world, introducing new vast areas for either newcomers and more experienced players. In the nearest future these lands will soon be filled with numerous bandit’s camps and outposts held by deserters, as well as new challenging event chains. This expansion will allow to handle more players when Gloria Victis finally moves to Steam Early Access, which is going to happen within the next few months.

The update introduces new bosses as well – the tough individuals of the numerous species of animals, which were inhabiting the primeval, medieval forests, such as bears, wolfs or aurochs. They impress with their age and size and their hides are required to craft brand new unique items, which will be a great reward for any hunter who manages to slay any of those.

Another great improvement is implementation of the guild’s reputation. It reflects any meaningful action taken by the guild members, rising when they fight the enemy warbands, claim lands or develop structures under the control of the motherland. On the other hand, oppressing the countrymen and, in future, waging wars against the ally guilds will have a negative impact on the guild’s image.

    See you on the battlefield!

    Changelog v.0.5.8.5

    Reputation system:

    – Implemented counting the guild’s reputation points - points earned by a character in time when it belongs to a guild affect the guild’s reputation but they stay even when a character leaves a guild; at the moment reputation history is not visible - it will be fixed in the nearest future

    – Added displaying “Wanted” and “Traitor” statuses as debuffs

    – Fixed numerous issues related to marking a character as a traitor

    Gameplay:

    – Increased the available world’s size, expanding the newbie area South to Dunfen and Mereley - in the nearest future these lands will be filled with numerous bandits’ camps and outposts held by deserters, as well as new events chains

    – Added auto-unsheathing weapon selected with a hot access bar when a character was in the exploration mode

    – Improved “show available” filter in the crafting window - after checking it, only recipes for which a profession level is high enough and character has all required materials

    – Reduced transparency of the faded-out chat windows

    – Redesigned visuals, placement and drops of animal bosses - now they can be recognized by their outstanding size, they also drop unique hides useful to craft new items; these animals are the eldest ones of their species: boar, Aquilian boar, wolf, grey wolf, mountain wolf, aurochs, bear, cave bear and Darkhound

    – Implemented butchering recipes for animal bosses - they are available in a book including the other butchering recipes

    – Implemented new items - headgear crafted from skins on the animal bosses - as well as their recipes, which can be obtained by defeating the chieftains of various groups of NPC enemies

    Fixes:

    – Fixed an issue causing incorrect checking distance to the deposit and, in effect, not closing automatically when a player walked away

    – Fixed an issue causing that the NPC enemies haven’t been reacting to the attacks of players when coming back to their spawnpoints

    – Fixed an issue causing problems with inventory and equipping items if a player looted another character before

    Greetings from the battlefield!

This weekly update introduces, among other things, new dynamic events, as well as numerous improvements for interface and AI.

New dynamic events, designed for the new players, engage Ismirean players to stop the Midlandic partisans attack at the Mereley fort. This event chain guides the newcomers through the very first moments in game and helps them to learn the basics of gameplay.

There are also numerous improvements for the experienced players as well, such as implementation of the inventory context menu. It allows to choose precisely an action which a player wants to perform with selected item or even to display a list of recipes in which such item can be used! This change greatly improves comfort of the inventory management and learning the crafting system.

We have also greatly improved the AI as well, so now the fights between NPCs look much better and they can perform various immersive actions, such as cutting woods, harvesting crops, mining or sitting on benches.

    See you in battle!

    – Balanced the resources harvesting times

    – Made the stagger time dependent on the power of attack and current stamina of an attacker

    – Added safezones around the camps of exiled players

    Interface:

    – Implemented the guild ranks system – leader, besides of the current permissions, can now nominate guild members to an officer or recruit and pass their function, officer can invite and remove recruits, recruit doesn’t have any additional permissions

    – Added context menu in the inventory window, after clicking RMB on a chosen item – it greatly improves comfort of using the items, showing their exact purpose

    – Added transition between the inventory and crafting windows – after clicking RMB on a chosen item and selecting a specific option in a context menu, available recipes in which the item can be used will be displayed in a separate window , therefore significantly improving comfort of the inventory management and learning the crafting system

    – DIsabled ability to consume crafting materials in order to avoid confusion

    Fixes:

    – Fixed an issue causing that leaders couldn’t manage their guilds

    – Fixed an issue causing displaying animation of falling down when walking up or down the stairs

    Greetings!

The latest weekly update for Gloria Victis is live! Moreover, entire system works way more smoother after the overhaul, greatly improving the servers’ performance and players’ experience from battles.

    Greetings!

The latest weekly update for Gloria Victis brings to life a massive enhancement of the crafting system! Numerous changes have been done to either increase a meaning of the dedicated crafters and expand the profits earned by each player of a nation from conquering the lands. From now on, players will have to seek for the best ingredients and to use appropriate crafting workshops to create the high quality weapons and armors, as well as to maximize the amount of crafted materials.

Another way to increase the quality of products is to help your own nation to conquer numerous settlements, as keeping them under control increases the crafting efficiency as well, allowing crafters to support allies with decent weaponry and armors. Therefore it becomes a common sense to claim various lands and defend them as long as possible. In the nearest future the territory control system will be expanded with building the crafting workshop from scratch and upgrading them – each location will allow the owners to maximally upgrade the specific types of workshops.

The update introduces other significant changes as well, many of which were inspired by the feedback received from our community, such as numerous tweaks done to the reputation system in order to improve the user experience. We also added the one-handed spears, as we have often been asked for it. Combined with the recently redesigned hit detection system and attack ranges of the different weapons types, short spears will be very useful for the closed-combat group encounters, allowing players to keep a safe distance between them and the enemies.

    See you in battle!

    Changelog v.0.5.9.9.5

    Crafting system:

    – Redesigned the equipment’s quality version – instead of [-3] to [+3] versions there are qualities from basic to [+6] (currently the highest available); while it may not be a huge change from the player’s point of view, this change will allow us to balance the equipment and add new recipes way easier and faster

    – Items’ statistics are now strictly dependent on quality and basic parameters

    – Improved the chance and earned experience bonuses from workshops, buffs and used materials

    – Added displaying chances for creating each possible quality version of an item

    – Added marking green the professions which are connected to a workshop selected by a player

    – Improved chat messages about created items and earned experience

    – Improved working of the crafting window after opening it by using a workshop and then opening it again “stand-alone”

    – Fixed an issue causing that after inputting manually the amount of created items only one item was created

    – Fixed an issue causing that after using the recipes “search” function profession didn’t change properly, causing leveling up another profession on the game’s client side

    – Fixed numerous minor issues with the recipes “search” function

    Reputation system:

    – Replaced the “Wanted” debuff with “Warning!” debuff which is applied after attacking a countrymen not belonging to a player’s party (its duration time is being cumulated and after the third hit it’s replaced with 10-minutes long “Traitor” debuff); names of the warned characters are displayed yellow and while they are not chased by the guards, attacking or killing them is not punished with negative reputation nor traitor status

    – Implemented earning the negative reputation and “Traitor” debuff for looting allies, except for looting players with a traitor status

    – Restored daily limit of 1000 reputation points

    – Fixed an issue causing that the NPC guards were chasing a traitor until relogging, even if the debuff duration time expired

    – Fixed an issue causing that players with negative social status were losing the traitor mark after the death

    Gameplay:

    – Improved the character’s controller – it shouldn’t lock after changing weapons (thank you for reporting any problems!)

    – Slightly increased the 2-handed spears attack range

    – Implemented one-handed spears, available from the vendors in towns and castles

    – Added new piece of music at the end of the PVP tournament

    Fixes:

    – Removed duplication of the items by trading with another player and NPC vendor at the same time

    – Fixed an issue causing full repair of items after buying them back from the NPC vendors

    – Fixed an issue causing that respawn was impossible after dying from falling
    – Fixed an issue causing that character was respawning in the Castle Audunstede when choosing the closest respawn point after dying near the Lord’s Wrath Abbey

    – Fixed an issue causing that the flag capturing or upgrading events were not disappearing after finishing them

    – Fixed an issue causing that effects of blessings from the activity cards were stacking; from now on, using another card of the same type will only increase the effect’s duration time

    Performance:

    – Allowed to reduce the quality of water and terrains and resolution of the displayed objects on low and the lowest settings of “Model detail level”, improving performance on weaker video cards with low amount of VRAM memory

    – Added a large fix to the servers’ performance and stability which optimizes the network traffic caused by resources, crafting workshops and containers

    Greetings from the battlefield!

The latest weekly update to Gloria Victis introduces many tweaks done to combat balance, as well as numerous changes to various systems and new available weapons.

First of all, the update fixes the most common problems with items disappearing and deposit chest. We have also fixed an issue not allowing you to craft items when your profession’s level was close to the recipe’s minimum level or when any material was used in more that one recipe’s slot.

Combat balance has been improved as well, including tweaks done to armor penetration and damage dealt with some types of weapons, stamina management and Dexterity bonus to damage dealt with some types of weapons. Moreover, there are also improvements to stagger times and effects of few passive abilities.

Today you also receive new two-handed spears and guisarmes, which long attack range allow fighters to reach enemies even from the second line of formation. Players can not only buy them from NPC vendors or loot from NPC enemies but also craft them to obtain top-quality of these weapons, as their crafting schemes have also been implemented.

    See you in battle!

    Changelog v.0.6.4

They just soft launched their combat/animations update.  http://steamcommunity.com/games/327070/announcements/detail/3062859752406260447

    "Hello, warriors!

We have a pleasure to introduce the long-awaited combat update! It introduces new animations, as well as reworked controller and synchronization. Since this version is already playing better and supports the “skill-based” combat much more than the old controller, we didn’t want to keep it in secret any longer so we decided to apply it as a soft launch. Obviously it’s not perfect yet so brace yourselves, tons of hotfixes coming!

What does this update change in Gloria Victis combat?

    1. New synchronization and controller

From now on, synchronization is resolved in completely different way than it used to be. Server is much more authoritative in terms of determining character’s position and actions taken by players. It decides where your character will move and how it will fight. This change, which is the core of the combat update and took a massive chunk of the implementation time, makes it literally impossible to gain advantage by exploiting desynchronization issues. Therefore this update redefines the entire combat system and supports the player’s own skills even more. Moreover, new controller will allow us to solve most of problems of getting stuck here and there, most likely on stairs and fences. Some getting stuck may still happen but should be occurring less frequently. It also helps the problem of bypassing fortifications by walking across mountain slopes. Also, due to changes done to synchronization and controller characters are intentionally “heavier” – it was necessary to make things work properly.

    2. Motion-capture animations

Also being an incredibly massive task, new motion capture animations have been implemented. We had to replace literally every single action in game as well as to make the game fully enjoyable with new synchronization. Animations have been designed after authentic medieval combat manuscripts to give you the sense of combat in medieval armors, It was a lot of work, so some bugs may still be lingering. We know about it and keep fixing/polishing animations as we find those bugs.

    3. New combat mechanics

    Blocking mechanics

Blocks have been divided into three zones – from now on you will have to aim at our opponent’s attack to block it. For now it has been implemented in PVP only. This system is still being improved so we’re looking for your feedback!

    Charge

From now on, you can perform a charge attack to reach evading enemy. To do it, perform full power attack while sprinting – you will get some speed boost for a short while. At the moment, successful charge is being indicated by changing color of your stamina bar.

    Keybinds for directional attacks

A long-time requested feature – you can assign each type of attack (left, right, stab and overhead) to different keybinds. Hope you’ll love it as much as we do!

    Shields on back

If you’ll switch from 1-handed weapon and shield to 2-handed weapon, shield will be moved to your back. It also blocks damage taken to the back, including arrows.

    Shield strike

When you have a shield equipped and no weapon, you can attack your enemy with shield.

    Combat in water

From now on, you can fight in water. This is quite experimental feature [WIP] – if you’ll like it, we’ll keep it in game, so looking for your feedback!

    Known issues/todo

As previously mentioned, the combat isn’t perfect yet. We are aware of numerous, lesser or bigger issues. Our programmers keep working on fixing bugs, animations are being polished and overall combat is being improved to make sure it plays great and feels great.

    Gameplay:

    – In some cases, character may appear to move really slowly when it should run or move when no button is pressed. If that happens, press and release the button that is “misbehaving”, e.g. if your character moves forward while no button is pressed, press and release W button.
    – When spawning in starting areas, character spawns few meters above the ground, this gets fixed by first movement.
    – In some cases, character may not stop sliding when supposed to; we have some reports of sliding upwards. This usually have to be waited over – character unstucks after a while.
    – AI needs to be adjusted to the new system – right now, it was only made compatible. It will get a lot of tweaks once we are certain this update is stable.
    – It’s impossible to jump while standing still, we will fix that in a nearest hotfix.
    – Power-bar may get out of sync sometimes.
    – Arrows of other players seem to be flying in a wrong direction. This is strictly visual issue – archery works as intended on player’s own client and on server.
    – Swimming doesn’t eat up stamina at the moment – we will turn it on soon.
    – Stamina doesn’t get a regeneration boost while standing still or walking.
    – Free camera rotation is limited to 90 degree – this is temporary limitation on our side; will restore old free camera rotation as soon as possible.
    – Dead player bodies block movement until respawn.
    – Emoticons are temporarily disabled.
    – Diving is temporarily disabled. It is now possible to fight in water though!
    – Charge doesn’t get interrupted when hitting an enemy - this is a bug, NOT a feature :)

    Visual:

    – Player rotation may glitch on low-end PCs.
    – Some armors may cause skinning problems, i.e. animations may mix weirdly for some armors.
    – Character hair are invisible.
    – Interaction animation doesn’t make weapons invisible, resulting in a weird movement.
    – 2h axes are improperly positioned after logging in.
    – Some NPCs equipment may display improperly.
    – Other players animations may be glitching after login.
    – Jump animation when unarmed is bugged.
    – Cloth physics are not ready just yet – hang in there!

Once all the necessary fixes are applied, you can expect summary of the last year of Gloria Victis development and marketing campaign next week. Also, be ready for the incoming features, like quests and new nation – Azebs!

    Hello!

Winter is coming? No, it has already come to Gloria Victis! Check out the stunning snowy environment in the Ismirs area!

Also, this update introduces expands the territory control aspect. From now on, you can upgrade the workshops in guild castles up to level 4! There's also brand new type of upgradable object – an inn, which contains a table for the recently introduced dice game and a cooking workshop.

There are many other changes too, including controller and combat improvements, finished update of the medium and heavy armor sets, balance tweaks and lots of bugfixes.

    See you in battle!

    Territory Control

    – Introduced +4 versions of the workshops sets assigned to the crafting professions
    – Updated the upgrading flow of workshops and resource nodes in guild-controlled provinces, adding new item “Privilege” to materials required to upgrade them to level 2 or higher; this item can be purchased for Contribution Points from the Glory vendors
    – Updated the workshops placement in guild-controlled provinces:
    • Skergard, Castle Audunstede and Order of the Original Faith’s Keep– workshops can be upgraded up to level 4
    • Leaktown – workshops can be upgraded up to level 3
    • Twinfall, Norfolk Fort and Lublin Fort – workshops can be upgraded up to level 3, except for the Forestry and Farming, Engineering and Metallurgist’s workshops placed inside the walls which can only be upgraded to level 2 (the same workshops placed outside the walls can be upgraded to level 3 anyway)
    – Introduced the upgradable Inn building which was placed in the forts near capital cities of all nations: Dunfen, Mereley, Serai, Dundrum, Ystad and Eaglenest forts – the Inn contains an Innkeeper, dice game table and new workshops for the Cooking and Herbalism craft; more inn spawners will be added soon in other castles and forts, including the guild-controlled provinces
    – Added Herbalist's Workshop to the list of workshops available for crafting herbal products, elixirs and meals – these workshops can be found in the upgradable inns
    – Updated the mechanics of generating Guild Points for holding guild castles – from now on, they are split between the guild’s leader and officers before being transferred to the guild’s account, so if a leader or officer would leave the guild, all points donated by this player will be deleted; the points are distributed between leader and officers once per day
    – Assigned all points generated by guild castles to the guilds leaders

    Quality of Life:

    – Updated the Ismirean starting lands, covering them with snow and changing weather in this area to snowy one
    – Added snowy weather on top of the mountain with Skergard Castle
    – Reduced the time required to place a tent from 30 down to 10 seconds
    – Improvements to kicking – decreased kick range by 25%, decreased cooldown blocking the kicking character’s movement by 0.5s and decreased stun duration from 2.5s into 1.5s in order to bring those combat parts more dynamic and skill based, and to reduce occurrence of the “stun to backstab” meta combos
    – Due to changes in stun times, the “Unstoppable” ability doesn’t have to be triggered and doesn’t have the cooldown any longer
    – Introduced the in-game markers on the bottom info of questgivers, interactive objects in quests, quest resources and NPC enemies required to kill, also all these objects (except for NPC enemies) have markers displayed over them
    – Introduced an option for guild leaders to see and restart counters of Nation Points given by chosen members – this option lets the leaders find out which members are most active in more efficient way
    – Added Steam achievements, Challenges and in-game titles for the dice game
    – Introduced a new group of Challenges (named “Others”) which it includes challenges for the dice game
    – Added an icon of the dice game table displayed on the minimap
    – Balance tweak to the number of mobs to kill required to finish the Great Hung event
    – Updated the Ismirean Glory vendors’ assortment, adding missing recipes which had their equivalents in the Midlandic Glory shop: Black Guard's Heavy Greaves, Black Guard's Heavy Boots, Black Guard's Heavy Gauntlets and Black Guard's Heavy Pauldrons (the other parts of this set can be obtained from world events)
    – Added missing recipes for Styrsman’s and Guardsman’s heavy and medium armors
    – Optimized the crafting window (it was very laggy on some PCs if a character knew a lot of recipes)
    – Updated the bold version of the dialogs font
    – Introduced sensitivity options for selecting the block/attack direction
    – Cosmetic improvements and fixes to sitting/standing up at/from benches
    – Blocked possibility to damage any building in the player-controlled cities which are on neutral state, except the gates – we made this change because specific players were abusing it to turn the city neutral and burn all objects to the ground without having to deal with guards and avoiding alarming other players about the attack
    – Added custom information on Russian and Chinese languages while launching the game inviting these players to our dedicated Community channels
    – Updated the crafting events’ requirements, replacing 10 Dziwer Bars with 300 Herbs and Thug’s Dagger into 4 Warrior’s Knives
    – Removed the experience bonus cards from rewards of the crafting events

    – Updated statistics of all medium and heavy armors in order to standardize them and balance them out
    – Buffed charcoal from 2nd to the top-tier fuel level and increased the coal’s burning time from 60 up to 80 seconds in order to increase the efficiency of creating steel bars using the player-build furnaces
    – From now recipes which can be created both at the static workshops and player-build furnaces (meals and metallurgic materials) won’t receive additional amount bonuses while crafting them “from hand” or using the static workshops – they should be made using the player-build furnaces
    – Decreased the Calcite and Sulfur requirement 2 times in the Dziwer Bar recipe to compensate changes done to furnace processes, which will end in lowering the Dziwer Bar’s production cost
    – Added a chance to obtain Suet by butchering the Darkhounds

    – Fixed an issue causing removing the reputation buffs on dead (they would appear again after relogging)
