Just another cash grab attempt at a making a new product. People really need to wake up, if investors with billions/millions wont front money to these companies, why should we the 'little' people? Um, I think none of the big money would not touch any of these projects, not only because the projected margins would suck, but the whole idea does. Star Citizen, cough, cough...

Because investor and consumer goals aren't the same?  They want to turn their billions into trillions and we just want a game that's good enough to stay alive.

Crowfall has gotten more money from investors than they've gotten from crowdfunding.

And this matters to my point how? It does not, but thanks for pointing out what is clearly obvious on artcrafts website.

Because it shows that investors are actually willing to front them money, you knew that apparently since it shows clearly on their website but you still stated that they wouldn’t in your post. Weird, and a weak point to make when you know upfront it isn’t true.

The first few comments on this confuse me. Either the posters are idiots because they only read the headline or they're complete idiots because they read the article and still think somehow this spells trouble?

Travian probably realized after 2-3 years that Artcraft plans to never release CF and if they do it'll be DOA.

Before you true believers pounce I'd like to ask you if you've played the game lately and how much time you've put into the game. I've spent about 100 hours total now, tried every class and engaged in every activity the game has to offer. MY opinion after that time spent in the game is as follows...

    1. New player experience sucks. Crafting to "advance" is too much like a survival game and even more tedious because it takes longer.
    2. Combat needs improvement, feels like melee classes are hitting air.
    3. Classes are unbalanced and nothing has been reworked in the time I've been playing that shows they are planning to change anything. The unbalance means the meta will be just a bunch of ppl rolling meta classes and there will be no class variety. Watch Zybak's video with him and his 3 stealth buddies ganking, it's like a moba with a full team of ADC just wiping entire teams and that brings me to the next issue...
    4. The game feels like moba, a survival moba. There is no rpg at all, it is a PVP game with advancement tacked on which makes it count as an MMO but definitely not an MMORPG.

I want this game to succeed but in the time I've been playing haven't seen any behavior by AC that shows they are willing to make the necessary changes to make the game anything more than a minimum viable product.

The Shadowbane and Koster name recognition has faded for me and SWG( pre CU/NGE) was my first and favorite MMORPG.

    a few points.

The game is a PvP game, it's never even tried to say it was anything other than a Massive Realms vs Realms PvP game.

So I can understand if it feels like a PvP game.

I totally agree with you that the combat and animation, needs work, it does not feel like you are affecting your hit-box and the like.

And I agree that balance is still a huge joke, which, all things said and done, will kill this game faster than anything else, if things stay that way when it goes live.

His complaints boil down to two things that make his opinion worthless:

    1) It's a PvP game, always has been, from day friggin one.  The fact that he didn't know this speaks volumes.

    2) It's in an alpha phase.  No shit it's not as polished as WoW.

MOBAs are PvP games, most Survival games are PvP games and then there are also RPG PvP games. Which part of what he said exactly made you think he doesn't know that?

Well transparency lost that one I guess. I thought these were the transparent guys, oops. When crowd-funded projects mean transparent they mean information that is convenient for them to disclose.

That just leaves Camelot Unchained as the last bastion of transparency. Their next report in 18 months.

Noe everyone needs to hear "Their head CEO just found out I was banging his wife"

Then they shouldn't crowd-fund and fuck other people's spouses? I'm not sure if you're post was serious or sarcastic or just making a funny (it was kind of funny) but being a massive douchebag shouldn't excuse anyone from that. This shouldn't be transparency of convenience.
    I was just being funny.

But reality is, a lot of times, unless it's painfully obvious, reasons for ceasing service are often lame ass, commonly they simply did not come to a good pricing agreement regarding what services they wanted and what they wanted to pay for it. So as opposed to boring us all with office drivel, they said "ya know, it just didn't work out"

Well this happen when devs try to make PVP only MMO when we got a lot BR games. It will suffer from lack of PVE.

The same could have been said of MOBA and survival games as well though, CF does seem to be taking up a unique position for multiplayer, only time will tell how well it will be received.
