Sorry but just seeing 7m10s or so and the invisible wall right next to a pretty pond, no thanks, its not like it was hilly terrain or a little pebble that ws blocking your way, was nothing except blocked (either that our your jumping looked awfully like it)

But invisible walls kill any sort of immersian, if i wanted to swim in the pond or fish then i should be allowed and not have some flat earth styled dome stopping me

Army of slave children ruins it for me. If they were cool creature pets it would be a different and better game for the west.

I've played quite a lot of it now and I don't think it's a bad game. It's nothing new but it's fine if someone just wants a new MMO to play. I had a way worse experience when I tried Bless.

Performance is a hell of a lot better than what the early youtubers showed on the Korean version. Dropping Background Details and View Distance to 2 gives massive fps boosts and hardly affects anything.

Every Western YouTuber that has covered it: Loli mage?! Have to play archer as a lady?! Mmno thanks.

Korean developers: They don't like gender locks? Ah, they must be upset they can't play the male classes

as bikini models with bangin' bodies, lets fix that first.

If you have been following this you would know that they are going to unlock all classes, and they did say it was not going to be in this 1st test.

its not a closed beta! the games been out in the koreas for a long time since like 2017 ofc its gonna look polished.... the main problem with this game is the astel system its a load of man berries.
why cant korean companies make a decent mmorpg! little girls dont appeal to me nor do summoning many of them to fight for me

    Stop reporting on this PoS!

Ok we get that YOU don't like the game,,,, SO don't play it then, but there may be people that do like it and just because you don't like does not give you the right to stop mmo/rgp from reporting on it or the right to kill the game.

I expect nothing from korean games this times..such a shame.BDO is going there also it seems.Tera did it first.Hope Astellia will be the last.

I don't mind paying $40 for a game I may get 15 or 20 hours of fun out of... I mean after all it's better then spending $50 at a bar just to go home and pee all night and wake up with a headache!

I really don't get how this article can be so positive about this game.

First of all, there just aren't many positive things to say about it. The graphics are okay to beautiful. (The more I think about that better looking games existed in the past, the less I tend to the latter.)

You could possibly count the Astell System as a plus - because it could possibly be fun. But honestly I can't see it that way. It's just another extra - no matter the form or implementation. It's a try to stand out. And I don't really like it to be honest.

But the worst part is the movement and combat system. Auto-walk (yep...) is something that should not even exist imho, but more pronfoundly, this game handles worse than most games 10 years ago. It's just plain clunky.
Combat is... lazy and lame. Multiple skill bars, tabbing and not moving much? I like that. But not this way. FF14 did it good. This game doesn't.

If it would be F2P or had some Freemium model, I would say "Give it a try.", but at this point I don't see any reason what so ever to recommend buying this game. (Not to mention the shitty model of giving peopple extra headstart for 20$/40$, wtf)

To all the people saying this game looks great....

i'm curious have you played a video game since 2003, The graphics in this game are horrible compared to todays standards and sure thats not all that makes a game... but i mean

"action bars for requiring more than 5 skills"
Sorry, but limited action bars can make for sure diverse and engaging gameplay when executed properly and this game is the perfect example of how terrible tab target combat can be, there is plenty of other tab target games which have better more fluid combat.

    Movement looks average to low

the pet system is average at best

Hell, Bless was a more fun and engaging game than this game.

But i mean if you genuinely enjoy it and can play it more power to you, i literally uninstalled it after 15 minutes after i realised it's the exact same game i played on Asian servers and i really have less than 0 interest in it. Not that i was expecting some kind of massive overhaul, i just thought it might feel different in native english.... It didn't

I'm kind of curious whether the people posting negativity on this thread actively playing an mmorpg right now.

I saved the video to watch later tonight, but as far as I'm concerned, any new addition to the mmorpg genre is good news, regardless of whether it ultimately finds an audience or not.

Have you been following this? They are working on warrior and assassin with the aim for them to be ready at launch, then afterwards will work on the others.

Is that an actual hotbar with room for more than 4 abilities in a new MMO? Omg, dare I be interested?

No because if you had five abilities you would need more than half a brain. :)
As someone who has played a lot of MOBAs, I say that you can actually condense a lot of mechanical skill ceiling into a mere four abilities.

Don't believe me? Here's a clip of one of the most difficult characters in the genre. His name's Aether and he comes from an obscure Chinese moba called Realm of the Titans (a game which could have possibly inspired Heroes of the Storm's mechanics due to their heavy similarity). While he's seemingly simplistic, he's got an incredible learning curve in practice. Being effective with Aether requires landing 3 thin, curved skillshots in less than a second. An amazing Aether player can instantly kill someone from a quarter of the map away, and a mediocre Aether may as well go AFK for all that he would contribute to his team.

(It was actually pretty difficult to find any footage at all due to how old and short lived the Western version of the game was).

Not saying it can't be done and sometimes it is the right thing to do. But for every game? After consoles take us to every game only needing four buttons will mobiles take us to every game only needing two?

I think of four buttons as a bare minimum. 2 is far too simplistic (and we do see some particularly boring DotA characters with 2 active buttons).

8 is ideal to me in a game that lets you fully customize your bar. It's enough to be active, while also being small enough to force decisions and limit what each player is capable of.

If you really don't have other games you are interested into. Then yes you can waste 40$ every time a turd of an mmo launches. Then companies will start making only turds because it's profitable since people like you support it. I for one with that money i would buy myself some good games that are on sale on steam.

There are games were characters have only two buttons, that was a joke! I guess this is what I like to call "mobile ready". I would say about ten is fine, though eight would work for many games I play.

Good on him. If he's ok with spending the money for some light game fun then that's his business. We aren't a club and he doesn't have to join some gamer crusade.

There is no metric for "good games" and he very well might buy games on Steam that you don't like. Would you then wag your finger because he hasn't fallen in line with how you think he should spend his money?

There's 2 sides to everything. Even though its not anyone's place to tell someone how to spend their money, there's also consequences. Companies always prey on 'individual' minds like this, which is why crap products will always exist. I don't think its too much to ask for someone that's able to get a credit card/debit card/form of online paying, that they should also be able to do a little form of research into something they might be interested in. There's plenty of information that takes 5 seconds to find on the internet these days. Informed consumers help everyone and put a leash on predatory companies. Also, its usually the same people that 'spend the money on whatever they want, however they want' that create posts on forums talking about 'this thing is so bad' after being told that from the beginning. Bless Online is a prime example of flip-floppers on this site. Hell, Anthem as well.

Didnt they already come out and say the Western version is not going to be gender locked. I swear the tantrums thrown over this game are fucking exhausting.

Had a chance to run through it for about an hour last night. Feels cookie cutter, wasnt expecting more wasnt expecting less. Free of bugs and didnt lag or see any frame drops. I log in some more time tonight.

Ill play this till i dont.

Well, it depends on what you define as two buttons. Do you count things like item hotkeys and dodge buttons? If not, something like Dauntless could actually qualify as two button combat.

As for MOBA like characters, some of the worst character designs do have multiple passive slots with no attached active. Wraith King is possibly the worst offender with 1 active ability, a toggle, and 2 passives, making him an absolute braindead joke to play.

Well, if a person spends money on something that's crap when everyone knows it's crap and makes a complainy forum post then that's on them. I don't mind them being called out about that.

But I know for sure I will never listen to what other players say, good or bad, about a game because I just don't trust them.

If I would listen to every person who complained and lambasted a game I'd never play anything. If I listened to every player who praised a game then I'd find myself playing something that I just might not like.

I'm ok weighing the merits on my own and I think others are as well.

As far as consequences? I don't really care and I'm sure others don't either as there has always been consequences when it comes to buying products.

There is no guarantee you are going to get companies to make what you want or to maintain what you want. Ever. So just spend your money as you see fit as will others and whatever happens "happens."

If that means that no games are going to be made again (I doubt that) then fine, there are other things to do. If that means games are going to be made that don't cater to one segment of the population or another then "fine", again, there are other things to do.
