Daybreak Games has filed for a pair of new trademarks, both in the "computer game software and video game software" categories. One is called Darkpaw Games and the other is Rogue Planet Games. While no definitive information is available about what each subsidiary will be focused on, speculation is that the EverQuest franchise may be part of Darkpaw Games, while the PlanetSide franchise may move to Rogue Planet Games.

    I still go back just to see if things are compelling enough to regularly play on EQ & EQ2, but I only do that 2 or 3 times a year.

    Seems like a logical step.  This should make it simpler to sell off any assets that don't match the performance that Daybreak expects.  I'm still half convinced that Daybreak's long term goal may be simply to sell off all the SOE assets and close down.  With the nostalgia craze in the MMORPG market, they may even make a profit.
