"which simply should not be passed over"... sorry but Microtransactions = No Buy.
And no, it is not good enough to simply buy the game but not the MTX, all that does is tell the publisher / developer that MTX are acceptable (and won’t hurt sales of their game).
I haven't played this yet but I've watched enough streams to know that the reviewer's idea of what constitutes "well written and well acted" is very different than mine. The dialogue between the sisters is complete cringe 90% of the time.

It makes me cynically wonder if the reason they decided to go co-op for this one is not because co-op is more fun but because online multiplayer is where the big bucks are.

Micro transactions can be completely ignored because everything can be obtained with in-game currency. Obtaining them in-game isn't turned into some kind of mad grind, it's very reasonable. Don't know why they are even there, don't want them there but you really can just forget they exist.
Youtubers, reviewers.. whatever.. know that Microtransactions are a buzzword that helps them make more money from views so they jump all over it but in reality they aren't a big deal here.
This game has basically done what Farcry: New Dawn did.. add light RPG mechanics to a familiar series. I liked it in New Dawn and I like it here. Gunplay/gameplay, graphics, sound, presentation, etc. are all as good as the other Wolfenstein games. Minus the open world aspect, Youngblood is far better than New Dawn in pretty much every way.
We have far too many normal FPS shooters and not enough RPG shooters so it's a thumbs up from me.
People complaining about it just can't accept them trying something a little different... they must want the same game over and over again, as they complain about getting the same game over and over again.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
Game is a blast. I love the buddy system, the gameplay is great and the banter oh God it's hilarious.
There is no sjw agenda. Just wulfenstein.
Side note, it sounds like a few here are lieng about playing. Heads hots do more damage and the limbs can be blown off enemies, plus the set bonus for extra headshot damage...

I understand your reasoning and I agree that in this case the micro transactions are not that big of a deal and if this was the extend of it I'd be right there with you, BUT.. at this point it's a matter of principle for me and possibly some others. It's that good old boiling frog thing again and if majority opinion is the micro transactions in this form are perfectly ok, they WILL be more aggressive the next time. You know this happens all the time.
I lost trust in the gaming industry and grew tired of judging each case individually. Micro transactions = no buy. They ought to "go whaling" some other waters.
I personally did not like the dialogue of the two main characters, it seems that they forced the sjw or pc, the way they implemented the tutorial should pause for the two players to read so as not to be interrupted when receiving damage, I do not like the life system of the enemies, when shooting there is no difference in the head or foot of the enemy the damage was the same, be changing weapons according to the type of enemy to break the shield but the damage was not very different from using a weapon opposite to the type of shield of the enemy.
well, maybe you should train headshots some more then
"I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"
Corporate SJW horseshit that no one will buy. Hopefully this one will finally kill the series, I think this and Watchdogs 3 are jockeying for the Orange man bad award of the year.
Both will flop, mass layoffs will ensue afterwards.
Praise be brother.

9 is way to generous for this game. I suggest taking a look on those reviews on steam..
This is not a Wolfenstein game.
I have not played the game so I am wondering what about it makes it "not a Wolfenstein game"? Did you play it or just read the Steam reviews?
To suggest that a reviewer change their score just to be in line with what other people think is wrong on so many levels. It would be better to suggest their score is too high in your opinion and then give the reasons why. Shank gave a very thorough review with both positive and negative points and to suggest he needs to change his score just "because" is absurd.
IDK when I'll get around to this one but it inspired me to re-DL New Order from Steam. It had been so long since I played it that it feels like brand new game... having a blast.

This game is so bad, its probably going to be an 'iconic' example of just how bad woke games can be, its little more than just an asset flip of the previous game, only worse. This is a $10 bargain bin game at best and even then i think its going to struggle to sell copies, sadly the game has issues, and not all of them are political. Oh and there are gold bars you can buy using real money that will give you access to more weapons etc. Bethesda are really scraping the barrel here and its not pretty at all.
At this point, when a game or movie is leaning on partisan politics of any sort, it is a big red flag that the quality is compromised and those politics are merely a smokescreen to divert from the problems.
In this particular case, from my perspective of somebody that hasn't played the game but is watching others being disappointed by it, it seems that the smokescreen were the female protagonists.
Cheapening female representation in such a way creates it's own set of problems, where the audience is trained that the presence of female representation equates lower quality.
Who cares if a bunch of internet extremists hate the game. The microtransactions alone are reason enough to skip it. Zenimax/Bethesda bought properties it had no clue how to manage including Fallout and Wolfenstein.
The main thing this game has going for it is production polish. It's pretty and has a ton of money dumped into making it look that way. That's not why I play these games. These are the kinds of games I'm looking at for this kind of game play.
Ion Fury - This game is a spiritual successor to the genre. It was previously known as Ion Maiden but the washed up eighties rock band were taking legal against them so it was changed. It's about shooting. A lot of shooting.
If the shooting really is that good then I'll probably pick this new Wolfenstein up in a couple years on sale. I'll also wait and see what Patient Gamers has to say about it.
Also Project Warlock is along those lines as well, I enjoyed it about as much as DUSK (just had a few bugs that were a little annoying).
That's a very well put together and rational low score review.
I almost didn't click, afraid that it would be yet another political hit piece with all the trendy extremist slogans but it's nothing like that.
Just as I feared though the whole co-op thing coupled with the inadequate supply of in game ammo is cash-shop driven design. Looks like Zenimax Inc's upper management is still on its EA "every game going forward must be a GaaS" aping kick. I shudder to think what forced online shenanigans they'll cook up for Starfield and the next TES game.

I had a friend tell me similarly. I was going to buy the game as I like co op RPG shooters but after having someone explain how cash shop driven the game is it really sucks.
Like I said previously. Compromised. I would take this persons review's with a grain of salt.
Not that my opinion matters, but this is clearly a paid review. Just saying.
I don't think reviews from "mainstream" gaming sites are paid per se. There does seem, however, to be a trend to give AAA type games higher scores than more independent sources of game reviews. I think it has more to do with access than straight up pay offs. If sites like this were to be seen as too negative, they might lose access to interviews, code giveaways, early review copies etc etc etc. Without that kind of stuff, MMORPG.com and other sites like it die. Dead. Period.
It's not that this is new, either. There was the whole Kane and Lynch situation where a reviewer was fired, for real, for giving the game a lukewarm review. Not saying that's the case here at all (Shank really does seem to like Youngblood) but you can't just hand wave it away when the score is so out of line with reality. Just like I predicted, Youngblood has tanked hard. As of right now, there is 2300 people playing on Steam, less than a week after it released. That is not good.
Here's some reviews from Youtuber's I generally think have good takes on the games they play (not just Youngblood).
