cool way to get people to start their subs early, running out of beta test for people to pay for, need to squeeze that little extra out while they can.
An extra month of sub for everyone with a Tolkien, starcraft, d&d and ever other stolen IP name out there. I see what you are doing there blizzard. I wonder if I can beat asmongold to his name and then ransom it to him for a hundred grand.
They are also opening up the server list so guilds can pick their servers and coordinate, instead of everything trying to figure that out day 1. Some are calling this a half month sub cash grab but almost everyone in the community asked for this to happen.

Those names will be reserved by Blizzard and given at release to Streamers.

actually its more like going from your 2019 soccer mom suv back to your 2004 mustang gt chick magnet! you still might be in your 40s now but at least your ride is cool again!
They know people will sub, and then the sub will end around the second week of September, which means most will still be in the honeymoon period which means they will probably sub for another month to get more juice out of it.
Maybe if it had happened 10 years ago. You can't go back.
There sure is a lot of new accounts that only seem to exist to shit on Classic.
So for you new account people (I'll ignore the old, jaded account users beaten down by life and the gaming industry):
- Classic is being released because the fans loved it so much, they remade older versions of Wow and millions have played it over the last several years.
TLDR: They already went back, and they're going back for more!

Literally my thoughts.
Btw on one side I agree that this seems like a "cash grab" move, but honestly I approve that we will be able to see all the realms before launch, so that people can decide where they will play in advance. What's more as you can imagine on launch day a lot of people will probably have issues logging, so at least knowing your name(if you care that much) is reserved is somewhat nice. I don't get why they didn't let people who don't have sub do it as well... my guess is that they are probably thinking "hey if he pays for a sub he might wanna try retail and get hooked" or maybe they think that way people who didn't plan on subbing for the stress test will now probably sub since there is more "incentive" if you can call it that.
As for what someone mentioned that, that way people will pay for at least 1 more month... where's the logic in that. Those that plan to play for 2 weeks(or 1 month if they sub started with launch) probably won't be able to get even close to 60 in those 2 weeks(or in fact a month), so I doubt that this type of people will stay for the 2nd month. This type of people are people who aren't aware that it takes a lot of played time to get to 60 alone and it's not as easy as literally all MMORPG's are now, so most will probably stop around level 24-30 is my guess.
I just hope they sorted the sharding crap for launch, because I still believe that this can ruin classic... being able to just switch realms, so easily in classic will devalue a lot of stuff since everything will be easier to farm and heck even leveling will lose most of the "classic" since most people will be able to avoid players from the other factions that way. Perhaps if they make it, so that at least works somewhat close to the current crap system in WoW where you have to be in the same zone as the the person who invited you in order to get moved to that realm. Also it would be nice if you have to be close in levels, so that at least people can't abuse it for leveling. Imagine 2 mages constantly realm hopping with the help of a level 1 char... they will hit 60 in no time.
