In a press release today, CCP Games and NetEase Games announced their sandbox MMORPG for iOS and Android, EVE: Echoes, will launch in 2019.

    Just another evidence that ccp management landed a hit on eve by pure chance without ever realising what they really made. These guys keep making one mistake after another for over a decade.

    There are some incredible mobile and tablet games. It is a huge market and overtaking sales on other platforms.

    That said, this is going to be a flop. Same problems as any eve tie in. People who will play eve... Already play.

    He nailed it, you did not!  ALL mobile games are trash to start with considering the major limits they have to deal with when it comes to the equipment it runs on.  People want something mindless when doodling on their phones, Eve or something like Eve is hardly in that realm.  As he said this new game will fail hard.

    Secondly, it is being run by Netease?  Give me a break, an RNG nightmare that will drain your bank account.

Now they think phones are the way to target the casuals. So they made this. But they are wrong. Casuals don't care if it's on a phone or PC. Casuals don't want their expensive ships blown up when afk mining or jumping through gates. Until they remove effortless ganking, no casuals will play their game, ever.

    That might be true and they might be doing a "Dont you guys have mobile phones" using the EvE Online IP.
    Which will end up being just that, no resemblance to the original game, but a vague and futile attempt to get one of the most complex, demanding and brutal IPs ever made and water it down so much that the only thing they have in common is the EvE logo.

    Go watch some EvE online videos of the epic fights, the espionage drama, the backstabbing that in some cases took years to pull off, the spreadsheet game that is trading in Jita, etc...

    And then imagine all that in a mobile game.

    laptops have existed for decades.
    Laptops are still not fun in the shitter. Especially gaming ones, Trust me, I know. They get too hot on your lap.
