Switch/PS4. It's pretty fun. I'm not usually a builder game kinda guy, I'm not a fan of games with no direction. This one does a good job at keeping you busy with quests that are around gathering/building/killing monsters and has a story. Definitely more engaging than your normal sandbox building game (in my opinion).
The OG one came out (eventually) for the PC. But this is firmly in the not-MMO category. And not PC (as of now.. even announced).
Sadly no, it never came out on the PC.
But after the success of DQXI they could/should totally port both over because I'd love to see it running and being powered by a PC, even if it already looks amazing, on the PS4 anyway!
Since it's been out, so many other great games have come out and I'm always drawn back to Dragon Quest Builders 2 instead. There's so much to do, explore and find.
Like @Epoq said, the game gives you plenty of freedom but there are always missions to work towards and big overarching goals to achieve.
Sandbox games sometimes lack engagement but this one has a lot of hand holding (perhaps a bit too much) but never a shortage of things to do.

Is it multiplayer at all?
Or we call that a DLC ?
