    In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.

    I guess I mentioned it in my other thread, but Glest/GAE/MegaGlest is an excellent group of freeware games/mods/engines and I believe many people make their models open sourced as well.

    Hasn't been an update to this thread in a while, but I've read through it (lots of nice games here!) and didn't see this one listed...

    Oolite - It's basically a remake of the Elite games. I just started playing it recently and, while I'm rather new to the space sim genre, it's been a lot of fun learning and exploring so far.

    It has the base game, as well as a ton of add-ons which are very easy to "install" (just download and move them into the game's Addons folder). They vary from graphical enhancements, new ships, new missions, different huds.. all kinds of things. You can pretty much customize it to your heart's content.

    And here's a video more or less demonstrating it; he's playing it in a fairly basic/vanilla setup.

     

     

    Edit: Actually, I do see it listed in the other thread linked in Moderator's post, but it's kinda buried in a long list of games :p.
