Wow, the ultimate semi-social MMO. The concept of you playing as a colony in a large world is something newish. It's kind of like an MMO version of ANNO or Rimworld.
ok game see you in 10 years! but by then that will be mobile graphics if it isnt already...

Actually, the idea is that you'd play as a member of a large multiplayer colony in a world filled with other large colonies !
Seed is top of my most anticipated list, because it's the first MMO in a very long time that I would consider being an innovative idea.
Not everyone's cup of tea, because in Seed you simply won't be able to achieve a great deal on your own, you WILL need to work closely with others to get the most out of things.
"innovative"umm no,tech ,well looking at that picture,a big hell no,more like 1990's early 2000.
"player still active when you logout does NOT work, has not worked in any pvp game at all and seeing it is one of my biggest peeves from Eve,i'd say it is simply a terrible idea.
If i was making or looking for another Survival game,it would be more in line with Atlas graphics and template, this SEED to me just looks cheap.
I still have to wonder WHY we are getting news like this, this is not gaming ,this is merely an early BUSINESS arrangement with no guarantee of any game or quality product.
At least if we received a lot of game design details behind this then sure makes sense, but this belongs more on a site's business section.
Furthermore the idea of a SPACE type version of a survival game is to me a much worse idea than a simple planetary vision or Fantasy type design.I have been saying that space type games are the LAST idea any dev without an endless stream of money should be attempting because it is too big of a scope, too hard, too much time and money to do IT RIGHT and that is what matters, doing it right.
I feel like Atlas is the best survival game out there right now but those devs implemented it WRONG from day 1 and worse yet,90% of the community told them so but they didn't listen. So who is THIS team listening to...anyone,how did investors become interested with no definitive gamer motivation,reaction..input,just on a whim?lol pretty sad reasoning for several investors,so there must definitely be some sketchy reasoning, like the promise of a fast to market game and a sketchy cash shop.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
It sounds and seems really great until they get to the part about controlling a whole colony instead of a single character. While some might love it, I do not want to play an MMORTS, I want to play an MMORPG. I'd much rather someone resurrect this Seed: https://massivelyop.com/2015/10/31/the-game-archaeologist-seed/
*sigh* That's not even close to the same game. Just because of the word "seed" doesn't make any other game titled "seed" any relation to each other. Come on.....

And that is what is missing in most MMOs these days, the need for help from other players to create things you can not. In SWG you needed other players to buff, clear wounds fast, make items ect, of course there were those who had 25 alts, but there will always be those types.
I am done funding such projects. The problem with developers like this they cannot seem to start small and work their way up. They always get bogged down with far too many mechanisms that end up conflicting with each other. I wish them luck, but I don;t anticipate anything coming of this.

Don't stress, you don't have to "back" this project, they have quite healthy funding already.

Then you cite a game that's been around for 16 years.
And I suppose BDO doesn't count? Because they also have logged off characters in game and they must be doing something right, the game makes money hand over fist.
RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

I wouldn't mind trying it, but I won't be following it. I'll keep a watch out and when it pops, I'll see if it's still something I want to try. Too many things in the pipeline (which is a good thing IMO), that I don't have the energy to actively follow anything, much less a KS.

I cant find any info on it anymore, but around the same timeframe there was a Danish made MMO in development called Seed. The only link I have to it is a post from this very site: https://forums.mmorpg.com/discussion/18836/seed-the-human-condition-preview-boomtown

Around $50M from private investors to date...
Unusually, Seed is not a crowdfunded game project
No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.
