Randy's involvement is a no go for me. (and many others)
Friends of mine with history and insight have enlightened me as to who and what he stands for even more so than his publicly known douchery.
Purchasing a title by a 'character' such as him is a sign of acceptance as to who and what he stands for.
I cant support a project with such disregard for others. Speak with your wallet as they say.
Sure but you as someone is the business should now more then anyone on here that not supporting a game because of one person is hurting everyone else who worked on the game. Randy is one guy out of the hundreds. If Randy was the sole guy working on this game I would probably be in the same boat you are in.
not really all the people who made the game still get paid regardless if the game flops or not only thing that gets tarnished is the reputation of the company. Pitchford has a habit of coating poop in gold just because of who he is, does he make mistakes SURE but do some of these mistakes tarnish his company DEFINITELY. But do his workers get paid not to the fullest (as he with drew 16million in funds from the bonus scheme for himself that was ment for his workers)
Pitchford is a bad liar, terrible spokesperson and  crappy magician (this matters as it goes to show you its an act he is no todd howard that man is a brilliant liar)

Their resume and past work portfolio determines what kind of career they are going to have and who will employ them in the future. They could also lose their job at Gearbox if their current project fails... you know, layoffs.

The whole Epic/Steam thing is not one of my chosen battles, however I didn't pre-order and I'm waiting a bit to make sure neither Gearbox nor their scummy-as-fuck publisher pulls any crap sometime after launch.

Some people class MTX as infinitely available transactions.. I'd even go as far as saying most of the industry class them that way. Things like: Lootboxes, consumables, any kind of temporary boost.. things that you can just keep buying and are not permanent.

I class what Borderlands offers as DLC. All DLC is a micro transaction but not all micro transactions are DLC. DLC has a ceiling, where you have everything and you can't buy anything else.

I think this is where Randy got his wires crossed when he was trying to talk about it. He didn't bank on how much people define things differently.

I love spotting patient gamers in the wild. Do you ever read the Patient Gamer sub on reddit? There is a lot of good feedback in there.

I rarely visit Reddit, it's a rabbit-hole I'm not eager to jump into, but sounds interesting.

The interesting (in a self-reflective sort of way) thing about about my patience is it just took one game to push me into that self control. Not saying I'm perfect by any means, I have pre-ordered CP2077 after all.

The game was ME: Shadow of War. I absolutely loved the first game and was excited about the second. But I heard the rumblings and restrained from buying it, even after release, despite the initial decent reviews. I was rewarded for that patience once everything about it came into the light. I never did buy the game, but now it's installed and on my list to play, thanks to the game finally being balanced properly... and my XBox for PC account thingy making it available to play.

Since that initial difficult choice to wait, it's become much easier to now wait. I still occasionally support an early access project, or buy a game shortly after release, and I'm occasionally regretful. It's actually the latest installment of the Wolfenstein franchise that solidified my choice to wait on Borderlands 3. I figured W was a safe franchise, despite being part of Bethesda... So now I wait on B3, hopeful.

That is interesting way of looking at it but I don't think that flies anymore in todays age. I mean most game have MTX that is cosmetic.
Cosmetics are permanent so I define them as DLC. If you get them through a lootbox, though, it complicates things.

Some aren't permanent though.. so in that case they are a consumable.

Not going to say that this couldn't happen and won't happen but can you imagine the hate the media and fans would unleash on Gearbox/Randy Pitchford if this is to happen. During E3, Pax, and during their launch party they hosted on Friday him and his team kept saying there would be no MTX and lootboxes outside of character skins like BL2. Heck Randy Pitchford and his team have gone so far as to attack lootboxes and MTX pretty hard during the run up to launch. I think a lot of people are excited for BL3, including myself, for this reason. Maybe not the only reason but a big one.

I would be upset if it happened but I kind of want it to happen to see Jim Sterling's reaction

The backlash would be pretty epic (pun only half intended) and while I'm actually hopeful, I do remember Randy deflecting the fault of the Epic exclusive on 2K, so it's within the realm of possibilities the same could happen a month after release and something shady gets added in the Activision-style of doing things.

And I'm perfectly fine with the skins thing they did with B2, most of the DLC was just fluff and the new characters were worth it, imo. Psycho FTW.

BTW Randy... I want my Psycho in B3... make it so.

Krieg was so fun to play. High risk, high reward. They really made his play style psychotic. Loved it.

His chatter and chaotic playstyle just made me so happy.  "Ugh... the choices are pretzeling my inner lobes"

gearbox deserves 100% of the profite steam was about to rip em off. would you rather gearbox get money for borderlands 4 or not as much.

I mean they can have 100% of the zero dollars I'm going to give them. Could have had 70% of the 100 i would have, but they chose to sleep with the slut with no protection EGS so w.e I might actually pay for it in March if Cyberpunk doesn't have me otherwise engaged (it totally will, already pre-ordered on GOG)

As far as I'm concerned, console exclusives do not exist, have never launched. Same with Epic exclusives.
