All is not lost, fans of RP'ing in MMOs. World of Warcraft players rioted against the Banshee Queen by standing atop Orgrimmar gates on the Argent Dawn EU-RP server recently.

Ahh my realm on the retail. The only reason I played BfA that long even tho I hated the expansion. The community, events and my guild combined was such an amazing experience.

Kudos to the roleplayers. They are the only ones keeping the RP in mmoRPg alive.

I remember my first week in Everquest. I knew absolutely nothing about roleplaying. I came across this dwarf and he engaged me in conversation. But not like a regular dude. Like a dwarf. He asked me if I could spare some water, for he was sorely thirsty. I said sure, and started explaining how easy water was to come by. He just thanked me. We parted company, and later I realized I had just met my first role player.

Good to see some RP in WoW still. Moved to FFXIV for RP a while back since the % of people who RP'd on Balmung -- and now also Mateus -- was so incredibly high. Though it helps when the producer director is an RPer and frequently puts in new RP systems and items that cater to it. But with the opening of Balmung it went from a paradise to just okay since gil-sellers populated the market boards and popular hanging spots. Still quite a bit in the open, but much of it has just moved to housing districts and event planning on popular FFXIV RP sites.

Due to frequent travel in my youth, English isn't something I consider my primary language (and thus I obtained quirky ways of writing).  German and French were always easier for me despite my family being U.S. citizens for over a century.  Spanish I learned as a requirement in school, Japanese and Korean I acquired for my youthful desire of anime and gaming (and also work now).  I only debate in English to help me work with it (and limit things).  In addition, I'm not smart enough to remain fluent in everything and typically need exposure to get in the groove of things again if I haven't heard it in a while.  If you understand Mandarin, I know a little, but it has actually been a challenge and could use some help.

Also, I thoroughly enjoy debates and have accounts on over a dozen sites for this.  If you wish to engage in such, please put effort in a post and provide sources -- I will then do the same with what I already wrote (if I didn't) as well as with my responses to your own.  Expanding my information on a subject makes my stance either change or strengthen the next time I speak of it or write a thesis.  Allow me to thank you sincerely for your time.

I've been RP'ing on WoW for around four or five years now, and the community is bustling. When I first showed up, I was used to RP'ing on UO private servers and Project Zomboid, where the total online player count was often, at the highest, around twenty strong. Logging into Stormwind for the first time and seeing hundreds of characters with RP profiles (using TRP and MRP) was pretty amazing. Lately, from what I understand, there's been a formidable migration from Wyrmrest Accord -- where I used to RP -- over to Moon Guard, but talking to the people I know who are still kicking around, the RP was generally the only thing keeping us playing BFA for as long as we did.

Roleplaying was never dead. It usually just involves whips, chains, and Japanese schoolgirl uniforms.

I've been RPing in MMORPG's since I left WoW after Lich King.  BTW is that screenshot showing RP of people sitting in Dungeon Queues?

I don't see any LFD UI elements in that screenshot.

I don't RP, but do enjoy playing on RP servers. RPers add so much to the world. It's like havint additional NPCs or actors whilst you are playing.

The Horde no longer has a Warchief, with Sylvannas killing off the last one there aren't any more that are 'capable' of replacing him. :/

My guess is Bane picks up the mantle, but who knows. I don't think Thrall wants it.

As far as RP goes, I don't do it, but I always roll on RP servers. The community tends to be a bit better overall. Like was already mentioned, I like watching people having an in-character conversation. On occasion I will join in for a few lines, but that is the extent of RP for me.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

You can't hide the UI (like in every MMORPG) in WoW anymore to take screenshots?

In other interesting wow related news, Youtube is actually supporting ads for level boosts in WoW Classic. I guess its no real surprise though since they've been supporting raid clearing services for years now on retail.

Sorry Shank, LotRO would like to have a word with you about quality and quantity of RP. Glad to see the ERPers are happy in Goldshire though. Haha, I kid!
So far so good at the Goldshire Inn. Maybe because it takes actual effort for the Night Elf strippers to get there? :)

If I was stuck in an old ass game with stale content, I’d turn to RP as well. No surprise here.

Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

You can. Just wondering what about the screenshot made you said "is that screenshot showing RP of people sitting in Dungeon Queues?"

Perhaps you were just being an ass.
