Naw, just no where close to resembling the promised game.

I prefer to not misuse well understood terms, confuses others on their actual meanings. (See MMO, MMORPG, P2W etc.)

I am of the opinion that this game will not be released.
Which means you believe it will be vaporware, but at the moment it is a game in (slow) development.
One would almost say it's regressing...

However, this video is an interesting insight into early stage game development.

Some one above mentioned functions, and I think the lack of understanding over what a function is (in terms of coding) has triggered some responses here that are perhaps not accurate.

Now the video on display looks like it is pretty much fully made of primitive art, this is a step below even place holder art, literally blocks and shapes to show where the placeholder (and later the finished art goes)

Additionally some of the footage shows a very early form of some systems, but then I looked and the UI is present, in a basic form and movement and object instancing is in place (For a multiplayer title this is massive, and when I talk about object instancing, it is not like a dungeon instance, but more the way you place copies of objects into the world).

It is still VERY early stage, certainly for me way too early to be showing WIP videos and far behind where I would expect them to be based on their own initial time line.

But it is also a lot further ahead than some people give them credit for.

Game was supposed to release Dec 2017 and that timeline was defended by the developers.  So what credit do you really think they should get?  If they showed THIS video back during the Kickstarter there would be no questions.  Instead they showed “demos” of a game that 3 years later is just reaching this rough “VERY early stage”.  The question begs:  What exactly were they demoing back in the Kickstarter?

Edit to add the quote from the Kickstarter years ago:

We also promised to only go to Kickstarter once we had a playable demo (combat demo released at PAX East) and substantial development to show. This is not just a concept that we're presenting. It's a game in the making that we need your help to bring to fruition.

    And

Q: When will the game release? When will we get access to Alpha/Beta/etc?

A: It depends on our funding levels, as that will enable us to hire more staff to allow for concurrent development. Right now we’re aiming for December 2017 for full release.

Thank you for the additional context there, I will have a think about that because it does alter my view on the video somewhat.

I was viewing it as an early stage prototype of a new system or content delivery mechanism, I did not realise they had demoed something similar 2 -3 years ago.

I will have to dig that video up, as I am now interested in comparing the two my self.
Here, I will help you.  This is the video shown about 2.5 years ago showcasing a dungeon called the Silver Mine.  Compare that to the dungeon shown in the OP.

Well, they did call all of the graphics in the "parkour" video placeholders.

Who knew they would be replaced with something worse, strange way to create a video game

Have you guys seen the kickstarter week 3 store items? Who writes like this? Not one word about pre-elyria status.

    The Kickstarter-versary rounds turn 3!

    By Serpentius

    Hail Elyrians!

Well, you've done it again! We set goals in front of you and you smashed them ALL! You smashed them hard enough that we literally had to scramble for a set of new goals to challenge you with... and you're busy smashing right through those even as I type this! To say that we're overawed is an understatement. The outpouring of support you have shown Chronicles of Elyria is nothing short of miraculous and there is very little in this world we can hold as dear. Our gratitude is inexpressible, but please accept a very humble and awed THANK YOU from all of us at Soulbound Studios.

As part of saying thank you even more deeply, every community member with a paid-off pledge package by the end of the event will receive an additional gift of a Drasean Tea set at the end of the promotion.

The invitation to adventure is a unique category of item; representing not a specific object, but an opportunity -- a literal invitation to an adventure. Each one represents a mystery and, potentially, a unique treasure or piece of knowledge to be discovered. Only if, of course, you are brave enough to heed to the call and clever enough to solve the mystery that calls you. The invitation is different for each player, but it always results in the opportunity to experience the more dangerous, and oft-times wondrous, elements of the World of Elyria for your character. The question is, will you accept the invitation and embark on an adventure that is sure to be a unique element of your character's own narrative in the world of Elyria?

I really like this one. Someone in the thread summed it up well. Having a lame adventure? Quickly buy this pay to fun item, that will give you an epic story event.

I had thought that was the whole point of the engine they are building. Unless they can't be bothered wasting time building too many different story paths. So to unlock more, you have to buy them.

Thank you for making my day with that thought, can you imagine  the P2W trash if SbS did this? Basically saving the epic quest/story lines as paths you can purchase in the cash shop, can you even comprehend how much money they can make? Caspian needs to jump on this, the more quests/journeys they design, guaranteed many whales will purchase these.

At the rate they are going it's probably just a matter of time before they start offering a vial of Jeromy's blood, sweat and tears as a KServersary item in the store.

Nah... SotA supporters wised up and stopped buying stuff from the store which is why they had to go to those measures.   CoE supporters just toss buckets of cash at every pixel promise. No end in sight.  Just think about the very premise... instead of apologizing for being 2 years and counting LATE they actually fundraise millions of dollars off that fact.  It's insane...

I think all these items are a test. It's like how DLCs first came into use. They released little parts, bit by bit. These are the first, wouldn't really pay to win. More pay to cut off many months of work. So even if some the community kick up a fuss, if they sell enough of them. You know more will be coming around next time. Even if it cheapens the whole bloody experience.

That aside, this whole promo is way out of my pay grade. If someone where to pick up a few items each week, even if they ignore the daily flash sales. They be a whale. There is someone in my duchy, that has too much money and not enough sense. Been buying away. If I had to guess, I say he has already spent several hundred. This is just one person. No surprise they are making such a killing on it. Truly AAA companies need to hire them. They have it down pat on how to milk people.

I've also seen this in my duchy, kingdom and server. The ingredients per week are another example.

Good if you buy just a token, it's 150 EP, you get 4 ingredients and if your lucky you can sell for another 500-600 EP in gifts

Means that SBS are making a killing on that too.

There was meant to be first person view. Something we have never really seen. With them explaining third person wasn't meant to gain an advantage. Like easily seeing someone sneak up on you. While I get the love people have for third person view, imo, they shouldn't have bothered with it. Really takes any stealth out of the game. Also using it for the normal stuff, looking around corners etc. Unless they go like the new Tom Clancy game. Your view is so close to his backside, wouldn't get more than a few seconds of seeing someone sneak up. Can't really see crap with that view, annoys me greatly.
