In all seriousness: this might be a problem given that their sub model mirrors ESO's. Chances are they will sell future patches while rolling them up 'free' into the sub to make it seem more appealing. The problem with this is that FO76 is garbage. At least ESO was smart enough to finish fixing the game first before doing that....
As of my last time playing the game (ps4) which was about.. a month ago, the game was still bug ridden, crashed all the time, and was a huge headache to handle because of the problems.
I would easily pay for the sub if I could get into the game and have it be stable, but it's not. I've lost tons of items because the game crashes at inopportune times. I won't go back until they fix it... and after over a year, I don't think that'll happen.
I feel like they've just given up, and said.. "We can't fix it, but we can add stuff for you to buy"
It sounds like to me it is basically their private server program. It doesn't seem that unreasonable of a cost for a private server if you love the game. I paid close to that for ARK and Conan exile servers and this gives a few other bonuses too. I will say if you have no interest in a private server than this is probably not for you.
I can already feel people raging about this but as stated by other people it's literally just ESO Plus for Fallout 76. FO76 is an B2P MMO. Aside from the initial burst of money from people buying the game they have to make money somehow to keep up the servers. An optional sub and a cash shop is perfectly fine imo as long as none of it gives you an edge over pvp turning it into p2w.
A sub for private worlds actually makes sense. You're essentially paying for extra server space. Only the private world owner needs the sub anyway.
I paid my $100. Fallout 76 is the only game I have ever platinumed (outside of Telltale games that throw them at you). Never spent a dime in the MTX store so I will give them some money to support them
Im sorry, but you honestly have no self respect, as a consumer. This company:
outright lied about the effort and manpower put into producing a game
went on a hype campaign with "beta testing" when they knew full well it was no where near ready
proceeded to screw up in every marketing way you could imagine
screwed up their own patching processing
used misleading "sale" tactics in their mxt store
went back on their word about game changing mxt
Now this BS. And that isnt even taking into the account the declining quality of the franchise in terms of rpg mechanics, an ancient, buggy, outdated engine. Sometimes if you CARE about something you dont feed into its crappy, self destructive behavior. But, thats what Bethesda is hoping for I guess. Any money and income for a shitty, underdeveloped, repurposed franchise is just extra income for them. Just keep rewarding them for diminishing quality and outright lies.

I have gotten more hours and fun out of Fallout 76 then anything this year, Even FFXIV. Besides I am not the only one on here saying that this isn't a bad idea or is going to get the subscription. I guess what I am trying to say is... who cares what I am spending money on as long as its on a product that I am having fun with. If you wanted to go buy Atlas or any other game that I think of in a negative light I wouldn't tell you that you shouldn't because of X, Y, and Z
Yes, you shouldnt care what you spend your money on as long as youre having fun. Im just wondering what monetary value will be your limit to pay for said "fun" since based on Bethesda's behavior only points to notching up the cost of "fun"
Sure it is a tad bit high.. 9.99$ would be the "going" rate people seem to accept.
But we are plenty of people who actually find the game fun. It is relaxed, low stakes and quirky. It is not the best Fallout game by any metric.. But it does not have to be... The subscription is nice and i spent more money on a movie ticket + snacks last time i went to the theater.. Fuck i spent that money on a a pair of shots at the bar...
And we are a bit late to avoid "encouraging" companies to do this... like.. vanilla WoW late...
Tbf, Todd Howard does know his market. He knows there's hardcore fans he can always milk, so I give the man credit. This honestly wouldn't be a bad deal if the game was fixed FIRST (which we know will never happen) and the 'private servers' are supposed to have mod support, so 100$ a year is pretty much akin to people who buy CoD/Fifa/etc every year.
The people scoffing at this just know this further reinforces such practices, but nothing like this will happen in ES6/Starfield, right?!?! Right?!?!?
1) I will give them some money to support them 2) I am not the only one on here saying that this isn't a bad idea or is going to get the subscription. 3) who cares what I am spending money on as long as its on a product that I am having fun with
1) You already supported them, when you paid $60 for this awful crap. 2) No matter how hard you will try, there is no justyfying for this greed that Beta-tesda is trying to pull. 3) Such egoism. Why, you ask?: - devs are releasing the product in laughable state - you're supporting this by giving them additional $$ - they and other devs, when seeing this, they have a green light to crossing another lines of greed, incompetence and being lazy - in time, I won't have the possibility to play video games, beacuse they will be created only for sucking more cash
And all of this is because of you, for supporting that cancer.
You and others like you are guilty of present state of this industry.
Shame, shame, shame...
tl;dr: You're such a disgusting cash cow, I want to puke. Moo!
This is what happens when anything gets popular. Well there's nothing you can do except get more and more picky until there's nothing worth playing and find something else to do.

F76's review: 7/10.
Never forget.
I don't think $12.99 is out of line but maybe I am wrong.
The only reason I would do it is if I wanted a private server.
