    ogres = melee
    dwarves = tank
    halfling = rogue

    some are a bit "boring" to be honest , who can compete with +str and 5% crit dmg bonus?

    Racial abilities are always a bad idea in regards to game design. Should just make it purely cosmetic so its one less thing to deal with down the road.

    You know, I watched all 38 minutes of the video looking for gameplay...and they had a disclaimer about possible jankiness but if there was any actual in game video shown I must have blinked and missed it.

    Anyone else getting weary of all these indie MMORPG devs endlessly communicating artist renderings and dev design notes instead of showing these things to us in action, especially considering most have been working on their games for 4, 5, and 6 or more years?

    Almost makes one wonder how much of it really exists at present?

    Why would that be?

    They look fine. Dark Myr has an awareness of the environment around them which is a huge help considering that "noticing things" is part of how the quests and lore get disseminated. Also, noticing stealthed opponents is a huge help.

    Better Pressure acclimation and swim speed is a plus for underwater exploration (well, this is assuming they have underwater exploration which seems to be a part of their plan for having different biomes with different requirements)

    If people are looking for "combat" racials for everyone then that's a different story. I'd much more prefer racials that make the races unique in the world as well as having strengths (and weaknesses) in combat.

    Another video about a video game with no actual screenshots from said video game.  Conceptual art is nice, but it's not what people will be moving about on screen.  It's been in development for years now, VR should be well beyond conceptual art or placeholder graphics by now.

    Releasing this type of information is supposed to fuel anticipation for this game.  I rather find it empty and makes me feel disappointed.

    Crowfall has a ton of in-game videos, most of them made by players. With games like Pantheon and CU, you don't get a lot of in-game footage because they have an NDA.

    If there is nothing "out there" then asking "how much exists" is a perfectly reasonable question. Its part of the price for having an NDA.

    If you are also looking to a) raise money and/or b) get potential players interested in order to show external investors that there is a market for your game - well that is a problem.

    One way of tackling this is to do stuff like the video.

    Doing the first one is "easy". The next few shouldn't be that hard. With each passing month though it will get tougher to show not only "new features" but "progress". And in the absence of any other footage etc. they are going to have to show "in game footage" of some sort eventually.

    I think that's why they are looking to finish Faerthal (or however you spell it).

    Once that is done they will release it and try to entice more investment.

    Ummm...for all those who say there is no gameplay ...just go to Youtube and put in Pantheon. There are hours and hours of gameplay. They have been live streaming the Pre-Alpha of the game for over a year. Full groups..going into dungeons and crawling ..boss fights...Epic armor/weapons..mechanics..explanations from the dev's playing. Sorry if MMORPG is your only source of MMO material but branching out helps. That's like watching CNN and assuming you know what is going on in the world because you saw a headline. There even helped you. Second video shows what people believe will be "epic" items similar to EQ.

    To above poster,i have watched ALL of those videos and came away with very little.The reason is because they are trying to WIN battles instead of explaining what is going on, the buffs,debuffs,interaction etc etc.
    Now if i played the game myself for maybe a month or three,then yeah i could easily follow along and understand but then guess what,i wouldn't need a video to tell me,i would already know.

    I think these racial passives are too focused.
    For example;

    An Elf can be a bard, druid, enchanter, ranger, rogue, shaman, summoner, warrior, and wizard.

    Elf in general benefits agility, and nature abilities.
    Ember passives benefit dexterity, and resist knockdown.
    Ashen benefits wisdom, and resist spell interruption.

    Ember: druid, ranger
    Ashen: druid, shaman

    Assuming the class design and stat priority follow a traditional design, picking any other class for an Elf will result in wasted passives. I would like to see racial passives that can be used to create a unique race/class combination without potentially inheriting racial passives that will never be used.

    If you were to roll an ashen enchanter, you would inherit one racial that is of any value. Which is resist spell interruption.

    ClassRacechart4jpg

    Using this race/class combination posted by Kilsin in 2017 (it could be outdated, I don't know) the only race/class combo that you actually have to make a hard choice between and be able to utilize all of the racial passives is human paladin, or dwarf paladin.
    2017? I'm going to say it's very outdated.

    I 100% disagree - for a min/max player like myself, I want to have clear best choice when it comes to every aspect including race selection.

    Like I mentioned in another thread - I would sacrifice balance for choice every time
    Hmm, the way you just described it I'd say you favor absolutely no choice, you want one clear option to be handed to you by the devs.

    Can't say I see the fun in that.

    Umm,  how's about you link us some of your favorite videos so we don't mistakenly view a counterfeit one or something?

    BTW, I'm in no way going to click on the two videos you did link if all there's going to be is faces talking and static screen shots. Already wasted 38 minutes of my life today on something like that.

    Can't say I see the fun in that.

    Let me explain it a bit better

    There isnt only one choice- but there is a clear choice that you make.

    For example if I want melee stun immunity- I pick ogre

    But that is not the only choice for a tank.

    What I meant if you want a specific thing - you can clearly pick that
    When you look at the racials each race having something that makes them unique, more powerful than another race in a given scenario - but not totally ruling them out in all scenarios. Using the tank for example -

    Human - Shield Specialization - Increases shield mastery skill by 10 points
    Elves - Nimble - Unflinching - Grants an innate 20% chance to resist knockdown and knockback abilities (More Damage = Less Damage Taken)
    Halfings - The Fire of Youth - This grants a bonus to the effect of consumables (Additional HP healed over another race)
    Dwarves - Fortitude - Dwarves gain extra hit points from each point of stamina
    Archai - Resists against Drains, giving more damage than a comparable tank in that situation. Resists against elements, taking less damage in those situations.
    Gnomes - Ethereal Being - Increases dodge chance by 3%
    Skar - Long-suffering - Increases maximum health by 5%
    Ogres - As a polar opposite, if you play a Shaman - you have stun immunity and an increase on critical damage as a whole to balance out with other races that are casters.
    Dark Myr - Embittered Psyche - Increases both stealth effectiveness and awareness by 10 points (Awareness decreases the chance you'll bit critted, supposedly).
