I'm honestly surprised they announced this before the PS4 launch. Good for them.
I thought about getting this for my dusky, unused PS4. Now I don't have to. The last two games I bought for it? Horizon Zero Dawn and RRD2. What do those two games have in common? The reason I like this announcement!

Has anyone even figured out what the hell the game is about?
my guess
it will be something like delivery quests in a world full of strange things like ghosts and demons in a part of US, after a war who devastated everything, and the goverment is trying to restore the country,

From what I understand it's third-person shooter. Probably with co-op. So it's a must have for me - if there will be decent character creator or at least a single non-ugly playable female character (like Fury in Ghost Recon Breakpoint).

It’s Kojima. I think anyone who claims to know what this game is actually about is deluding themselves. No one actually knows except Kojima. Because Kojima.
Not a mmorpg. For those who care about such things.
Welcome to the boards!
MMORPG.com hasn't been just about MMORPG's for many years. Kinda a self-preservation thing you could say.
There has been considerable discussion (as recently as a month ago) of labeling single player RPGs, mmorpgs, etc , in the title or early on in the article so people get a heads up what type of game it is. Guess that went by the wayside. But welcome to the boards to you too! Guess you missed that.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
Game has an interesting mechanic where you can "use" ladders placed by other people in their game in your world, like everyone's playing on the same map, but multiple people contribute. Like let's say there's a place that you can't get to without the cooperation of multiple people placing ladders first to get further out.
I only played one Kojima Game and about an hour in I gave up.
What was the last metal gear game called? That one. Yeah, the one where you spend the first 30 minutes of the game slow crawling around on a hospital floor in the middle of a completely incomprehensible story.
By the time the game dumped me out into, where was it? Afghanistan? I had already lost 100% interest in continuing. The intro was so incredibly long though, that by the time I tried to refund the game on Steam it was too late.
Sure, I get it, I jumped in at the end of the series, so I guess I was missing a lot of backstory, but I did the same thing with Witcher 3 and I didn't feel left out at all.
Honestly, I consider Kojima to be a particularly shitty storyteller. A good story revolves around telling the audience some important details and leaving other important details a mystery to be discovered later. The best stories leave a tiny little bit unexplained at the end like what was in the briefcase in Pulp Fiction, did Tony Soprano die, what happens to Caleb at the end of Ex Machina?
Kojima starts out by telling you nothing, introduces nothing but mysteries, only explains 10% of those mysteries and the rest are left up to your imagination to fill in the blanks. If he wants to keep the other 90% of the story a mystery to everyone but himself, then fine, that's his prerogative, but I should only have to pay 10% for 10% of a story, so his games should cost $10 maximum.

That's "one way" of telling a story. There are plenty of stories that are told with a non-linear narrative, some of them being VERY obscure as far as what's going on.
I've used this example before as it's one of my favorites, but Last Year at Marienbad is just such a story and is, in my opinion, brilliant.
You might not like this type of storytelling or other ways to present narrative but this stuff has been around for a long time and for good reason. And yeah, Ex Machina IS brilliant. But a good story doesn't have to leave a little bit unexplained.

think phantom pain, but with invisible mobs
Fedex simulator with ladders! And lots of inappropriate touching by hands.

Thank you for your time!
