Sell the game $60 and give me the whole game. Enough with those MS. I'll sell you a house and once you own it, I'll charge you $100 to paint your walls...

Only $100 to paint my walls to my preferred colors would be a steal.
If it's just cosmetics, like Path of Exile, then fine....if not, oh well, another Blizzard scam.
This logic really makes 0 sense given that PoE is a f2p game and NEEDS to have micro-transactions....D4 is going to be a full priced game that NEEDS micro-transactions of any sort? Really? I mean a strange idea if they wanted to continue making money post launch would be....oh i dont know....have expansions....weird idea, I know! The only way I would semi get behind this game having cosmetic micro-transactions is if it was the base-tier league stuff. Still gives people a chance to buy base rewards from leagues they missed while still keeping it unique to those that actually participated in the league by not selling everything. But hell, they look at SE with FFXIV having a box price+sub+cash shop with cosmetics that are mostly tied to one character and cost more than the sub each and read the forums only to find that community asking for more stuff to be added to the game's cash shop.

I mean... if you want your walls painted a different color than what they were when you purchased the house, it would cost you money... more than $100 though most likely.
As I predicted a while back, continuing the D3 no MTX tradition was just too good to be true with Activision calling the shots.
Cosmetics only or not, they can shove it.

I swear I heard Diablo 4's monetization would be base game and expansion packs. It's still so early I guess anything is subject to change.
I imagine they will lock character customizations and cosmetics behind a paywall. Stuff like that isn't ideal but I would take that over a RMAH.
As long as loot and drop rates aren't impacted by the monetization like Diablo 3 at launch, things will be fine.
yeah minute I saw mounts I knew they just couldn't release a proper game without cramming it full of MTX, sad really you would think considering the ill will they have from BFA and all of the controversy they would lay off garbage like that but all they care about is $ these days.

I'll pass then...
I loved Path of Exile (I backed this thing back in the day)...until I see that I put more than 10 new AAA games money in useless MTX.
I uninstalled and never returned.
First you think,It's only cosmetics and the game is great!
Then you realize that cosmetics should be a reward because you "play" the game like in the old good times and not mainly because you "pay" with real cash.
If they really need more money,I much prefer DLC's or extensions if you ask me...
Tired of "loot" games with "trash loot" because MTX /:

Exactly. Leaving aside the total or partial removal of in game cosmetic rewards, every cosmetics only MTX game turns into a fashionista parade.

Path of Exile's expansions are free. Hmm... now I do genuinely wonder how well things would have went for them if they remained F2P but charged for game updates and didn't have MTX.
After some thought, I don't think it would have worked out for them very well, one reason being the spaghetti involved in multiple players having access to some content but not others. Like, how would 3.0, which removed difficulties but added 6 new acts instead, work efficiently as an optional paid expansion?
As long as it's implemented well, I don't see an issue with this. Games are getting more complex and cost more to develop, but players won't pay more for games than they have been. Add in seasons and a constant stream of new content, plus server costs and infrastructure and the money has to come from somewhere. I would be willing to pay more for the box up-front but I'm in the minority, so MTX is the way to go.
If they made the decision about not having a real money AH before the news that "most CS : GO purchases on Steam being related to money laundering" they probably feel they dodged a bullet an arrow.
I am ok with cosmetic MTX only. Look, MTX are not going anywhere and 3-4 years from now MTX's might be more in your face then they are today. If they stick with this model until release I would be more then happy
The real issue is cosmetic mtx in F2P games is understandable
But cosmetic MTX in B2P games with B2P expansions....
As pointed above- you are already paying $40-$60 for the game and the same for expansions...
Shouldn't those cosmetics be rewarded in game during gameplay?
Not anymore. It sucks but its the times we live in. Again Blizzard said this game is years away. So even if this game comes out 2 years away I can only imagine what greedy business practices businesses will have thought up by then
An optional subscription as well - i.e. sign up for a regular purchase of MTX tokens with a sugar coating - for one.

Might want to look into property tax, and other permits you need to fix your own home...
MXT are never going to go away, as long as they don't impede my game-play who cares? I mean literally I don't play to reach P1500 or better each season and still have fun. If someone wants to be a whale, heck let em.

You think they need that to keep the servers online?
We don't need MTX in games and there are no good points to bring that in a game.

If they leave out a cosmetic thing I don't care.
Now, if they left out, say, the entire ending then sure, that would be an issue.

It could be worst. It could be B2P, Monthly Sub, MTX. Just look at Fallout 76.
