https://theavatar.express/home/friday-livestream-qampa-notes

  • Dungeon entrances can be placed on the second floor

  • Probably new POT templates and they will have the new foliage

  • Maybe an underground lava template

  • Upcoming POT spawners for stuff like cats and deer mean practice dummies will be POT placeable

  • Crafting stations will be POT placeable

  • Masterwork and Enchanting Taming Necklaces will happen some day

  • Tamers (& summons?) will get an entire skill bar for their pet skills in Episode 2

  • Trophy data is coming to agriculture and trophy heads

  • Musical artifacts won't get upgraded to the new system until Bard skills get worked on, probably Q1 of next year

  • Hoping to get our player NPCs to be able to emote when we make their dialog

  • Player GM events will lead to players normally being able to have more than one summon, an army of skeletons perhaps

  • List is working on the new landmass this release and probably next as well

  • More houses should work with exterior holiday lights. If you're having an issue, submit a bug report with the specific house.

  • In the backlog: Chaos socketing and POT owners dynamically placing their entrance

  • Next patch (maybe) floating orbs like Heart of Vrul placeable as deco

  • Crystal Sword will be placeable as deco soon

  • If LUA doesn't make it into a patch this release, QA will come early with it

Also Chris is twittering updates through catnip all the things they are working on so that there is not a public non twitch place to get information. https://twitter.com/catnipgames

There will also be a fantastic QA stream today with Fzol leader of House of Mangar who is one of the major PVP guilds in the game.  So you can bet they will be asking him about PVP plans and more.

Look forward to the new lands coming Dec :)

Also if you have not checked out R71 it was one of the larger releases this last month with a lot of new dungeon levels, new gear, lot and lots of new Artifacts up to legendary.

    https://theavatar.express/home/massive-patch-note-list-from-oct-31?fbclid=IwAR2SDoEEbzBQ-T-rGpnEI0If0OAWHPxIH5gE-BNIUoT0-A5fV5KoU92CUug

    • rtarus has been split into 2 scenes, one is a PVP maze and wave battle and the other, all non-PVE battles. This also resolves the issues some were seeing where they able to attack their own party members

    • Brittany trainers should now stay put and be easier to find

    • Exception fixed with picking up a POT Plot that was causing some odd behavior

    • Aerie: Fixed an issue where the “Give Vault Key to Marlin” task marker wasn’t going away.

    • Rose flower arrangements can now be placed as POT decos

    • Estgard: Updated the auto-complete flag for 3 Courage-related tasks.

    • Fireplace decos no longer flicker quite so crazily

    • Despair improvements including some door work

    • Party restriction removed from Despair so it will now behave like most other dungeons

    • Tenebris Harbor: Players can no longer pick up a “lucky nugget” if they already have done so. Also, any players stuck with an extra one can talk to Zan in the guard camp to have it automatically removed.

    • Kas Vault: Changed from two Tier 5 ghosts to one Tier 4 ghost, and from 2 Tier 5 spiders to one Tier 5 spider (with one less spawn location–the one that overlaps with the ghosts).

    • Kobold Expeditionary Camp: Updated quest journal hint to mention the camp is north (not northwest). Also, improved criteria for displaying associated compass marker.

    • Necropolis Barrens: Added the Tier 15 brown spider

    • Compendium of Pain and Suffering: Faun_CP06 continues to have a virtue event (#31) associated with killing it. Howerver, the amount changes is now 0 Courage (as opposed to -1 Courage). This is because the Oracle needs to know you are killing Fauns, but you aren’t getting penalized for it.

    • Epitaph: Players can no longer collect a Vermilion Lens if they have already done so.

    • Book of Memorialized Names: Updated with new name

    • Holiday Lights now hang much more reliably on exterior walls

    • Sword of speed will now have 100 base durability

    • Solar Flare will now correctly damage things

    • Verdantis Mines terrain will no longer show grass

    • Cost of Eggs and Pecan Nuts set back to 4

    • Warp spiders have another new ability

    • Store text bug fixes

    • Batch crafting improvement: reuse unused ingredients after a failure instead of sending them to inventory. This was based on feedback from players at SOTACon

    • Sword of speed no longer has incorrect colors when placed as a deco

    • Grim Reaper mask no longer crashes through avatar face, but correctly hides it

    • Fishing in a party will no longer generate a party roll for each fish caught!

    • Moving off lot while placing a new decoration (still dragging, not dropped), prevents further decoration

    • Added koi fish back to the koi pond green marble dungeon room

    • Obsidian Altar can now be scaled all the way up to 120% and still be placeable

    • Removed extra gold nameplate from Marlin Trophy

    • Scarecrow mask is no longer set to be dyeable (was never intended to be)

    • Spiders in Web Deco with Crawling Spiders now draw in front of the web instead of behind it.

    • /bugspray emote animation now functions correctly for the female so that the plunger moves as it should

    • Fiedx bug that prevented dynamic plot boundaries from being visible while moving the dynamic plot

    • Isabelline Stone 2-Tier Outdoor Fountain now has water appearance correctly scaled

    • Isabelline Stone 2-Tier Outdoor Fountain can once again be placed

    • Owl’s Head: Fixed a number of issues with guard responses.

    • Fix bug that caused a decoration to momentarily re-appear on the lot when being removed

    • Owl’s Head: Mervyn now always displays his “Adventurer Trainer” title.

    • Despair: Disabled one of the five “doorman” access codes pending implementation of required hints

    • Death Shield will now behave as described int he release notes. While still very effective, it will no longer let extreme death mages approach 100% damage blocking

Considering that this site https://shroudoftheavatar.net/how-many-people-play-shroud-of-the-avatar as well as Steam number show a decline of players over 2019 I would say it's not looking good. No matter how much deco bug fixes are done each month you still get posts like this https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/what-changes-would-get-you-to-play-shroud-again.160016/ that asks why will bring people back to the game.

Heck even Majoria, one of the biggest defender of the game is sad and doesn't play much anymore.

Yes, tiny tweaks and more cash shop crap mean the game is getting bigger. Meanwhile, new players encounter tons of bugs in their first 10 minutes of play, and then they leave. The only thing that's getting bigger is the whales' hubris.

Actually the player base has been increasing, they are not loosing new players, they are loosing a few though on the other end, either to lack of high end content to keep those maxers busy.

Tiny tweaks?  with Lua getting implemented now that is not a tiny tweak that opens up everything to be modded.  Also the new NPC scripting system which is already being worked on getting in are huge.   New zones were added, new dungeons.  If you look at the last year and put everything on paper this game has fixed and added more then most mmo's do in years.  Every month they have a slew of things new, fixed.

As to the Cash shop, I dont see anything wrong with it.  Almost every game out there these days has them.  I still think they are abit over priced though on many things but sounds like Chris is working on getting that more in line.

As to Whales, I could care less if they dump money into the game, it does not affect my game play at all and the amount of money they are contributing along with the regular players and 4000+ subs is why they just added 2 new staff.  A CSR and a Dev has been added to the team.

If they were sinking as many say then it amazes me that they still are pumping out things each month and adding new staff.   People from what I see are just throwing around opinions nothing more as they clearly are not listening to what devs are saying and touting the opposite based on their own personal views.

Well back to the game, got stuff to make.

The Steam numbers tell a different story, but we both know you're not interested in facts as much as you are interested in how this game makes you feel. The diehard players are more in love with what they wish this game was more than they are in love with what it actually is, which is an unfinished, buggy mess.

HAHA Numbers don't lie, but somehow you keep saying player numbers are increasing? Any numbers to back that up? Or are you going to rehash Chris's numbers? You know, his math is sooo good nothing needs adjusting or balancing in the game bc of his math.

You sound write in the same context and verbiage as Vlad. Let's see if IP matches.

Steamcharts counts how many people are playing simultaneously. Of course that's way less than a count of how many people have logged in during last month.

This feels like watching someone brag about having a pinto just because its still running....But hey, people who invested heavily in this game need to tell themselves something to bring themselves some kind of peace of mind given how much of a fail this game has become. I hope future investments turn out better for you guys.

Port couldn't put together a decent Episode 1 with their original team and funding.  Now that hey have a fraction of the developers working on a shoestring budget, how does anyone rational expect them to come up with anything good for Episode 2 and beyond?  Things will just continue to limp along with a bit of new, untested, buggy content, with the majority of the development effort going towards cash shop items.  Don't get me wrong, I'm confident that they'll come out with something and call it Episode 2.  And it'll be another steaming pile of cash and grind driven crap.

He has no source of information other then what Chris tells him. It's obvious that Richard having to sell the game, losing offices, loving devs every year, and not being able to produce all of the kickstarter items that this game is constantly hurting for players, especially paying players.

If this game was constantly gaining players as Drac had said it wouldn't be in a financial mess.

DracSchnider, this is a sincere question:  If this game was a success, financial and otherwise, why did Lord British dump it, financially and creatively?  Do you really not see that he is doing everything he can to distance himself from the game, while trying to salvage some portion of his reputation by pretending he's not?

Did he not do the same for UO and its still around.   I woul dnot say that they are as successful as they would have liked to be, but still what is success?  If at the end of the say they all have money in pocket and the game is still growing and being worked on then its by all means still a success.

As to RG he and Starr are still with the game and do what they have always done.  They are not going any where.   The reasons stated for the change had more to do again with saving money and time by changing the entity type and getting rid of a lot of the paper work and corporate tax side of things to a small business which does not require the same level of investment or requirements to be fulfilled.

If @Xee2018 you are still around you could probably respond to this better than myself.

Do you not find it at least a little suspicious that Chris and crew started officially abandoning their Kickstarter obligations almost immediately after the announcement of Catnip Games?

That's funny since RG has not done anything in at least a year. Even at SotACon he didn't show up for any of the panel discussions. He could have easily restructured Portalarium rather than sell off the IP to save money, yet he is done and sold it to Chris.

Starr is only posting release notes, nothing else. Literally nothing else.

If you can show proof to counter this feel free to do so.

Do you ever watch the streams lol.  both have been on a few of them (Friday Streams).  Also next SOTA Con. is at Richards Property 2020.   Chris even mentioned in a few streams recently that some of the requested changes wont happen because Richard said no.   As to Starr he is on more then Richard.   You also don't obviously follow Richards Twitter.  Where he mentioned SOTA frequently.  And as to him missing from the picture for a few months his Dad passed away and he was dealing with Estate stuff.

As to Panel he was not at the last one that is correct.  I don't recall the reason but it was not a big deal and was stated pre this last sota con.

Not sure what you are talking about.  If you are talking about the book they put in a substitution that most the player base playing who were owed agreed was a much better replacement.   beyond that they are still trying to get the very few remaining boxes out to those whos addresses were not verified and or incorrect.   If you can elaborate on what you specifically are seeing as an issue it would make it more clear as to what you are referring too.

I also found out yesterday that if your character uses hide stats option they will not show up on the leader boards.  Most PVP'ers in the game use this to mask the map locations where they are.  Its also used by some of the top players to hide stats from the leaderboards and other information from API.  So the numbers is slightly larger then what is listed int he leader boards.
  • HilltHillt Member UncommonPosts: 72
Oh right Richard and Starr on streams, WOW they are involved!! They have done sooo many things to the game that no one can even list them all. Richard tweets about SotA so much that it means he is SOOOOO involved. OMG!!!

Yet he's never in game, he hasn't written a single new quest since launch, there hasn't been anything added that he has contributed to at all. If there has been PLEASE list them. And Don't say that Chris was going to do something, but Richard said no. That in no way is truthful or shows involvement.

NO ONE CAN NAME ONE THING THAT RICHARD OR STARR HAS CONTRIBUTED IN GAME SINCE RELEASE. Except that Richard sold the game to Chris under the guise that it freed up expenses. WHAT expenses does Portalarium have now? ???? They don't even have a game IP any longer.

You're not sure what I'm talking about, are you? I'm talking about Portalarium's silence and deflecting and obfuscating and lying for MONTHS as people asked over and over when they would be receiving their books. I'm talking about heavily moderated and deleted threads in an effort to hide the truth.

Can you really be sure that "most of the player base" agrees when the forums are so heavily moderated? More than one person was banned from the forums for protesting, under the guise that they were making legal threats against Portalarium/Catshit Games.

Even if what you say is true about most players being okay with the substitution of a physical item with pixels (doubtful), what of the thousands of people who no longer play but who are still owed their physical reward? That's right, they get nothing unless they log into a game they no longer want to play. What a great bait and switch substitution.
