No rush, some of us don't buy on day one anyway and it gives times for reviewers to actually play the game, rather than jump in for a couple of hours and call that a review.
Excited to read your write-up, Shank! I was doing some late work from home last night to catch up from being sick and was listening to the boyfriend play it in Discord with a friend. He seemed to be having a great time, and it made my wallet whimper a little. With Black Friday/Cyber Monday so close, I was wanting to save that money for a new writing laptop. But, he just sounds like he's having so much fuuun. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on it!
I went in thinking my graphics card, a GTX 1070, was sufficient but I saw articles on Nvidia's User Experience tool say an RTX level card was needed for most 60 FPS resolutions. I had heard Nvidia say 40 graphic options.
This is why some days console, to me, just seems "easier". More plug-n-play.
Be interested to see what it takes on the PC side to get something that looks equivalent to the XBox One level of graphics.
Some writer on Yahoo did a very extensive write up on it....It was too long and painful to read.....The comments were anywhere from best game I ever played to very slow and boring. It is probably like the first one where it was great for about a month, then got boring after that.

this was one of the main reasons i switched from PC to console. plug and play. the other reason being the console exclusives. sure, todays consoles are not at the PC level graphics wise and never will be. to me, though, i cant see a large enough difference anymore to say i play on PC because console graphics are so bad. i play in 4K and it looks amazing. theres a difference, but its so minimal now that that argument is no longer an excuse to why people dont play on consoles. its financially the better choice.
I had to uninstall my antivirus software before I got Red Dead Redemption to start, but after that I haven't had a single crash or a technical problem.
Being only able to change keybinds while you're in-game is a bit silly, but since you're able to change them it doesn't really affect anything.
Controlling the game on keyboard and mouse feels good. There are a lot of situations where you need to keep key pushed down instead of just pressing it once, and some of the menus feel better when used with keyboard than with mouse, but overall the keyboard + mouse controls feel good even if they aren't perfect.
Running on GTX 970 and I7-3770 I can't set the graphic settings very high, but with a little tweaking I can get the game run consistently near 60 FPS and the graphics still look really good.
Mouse-over on guns, hair-dos, clothing in the shop - "buy" button disappears. Some objects cannot be picked up - character just freeze there for 10 seconds. No tutorials for Online (apparently I have to use 30+ hours single player as a tutorial). The whole Online gameplay is focused on making you buying gold for $$$ - like some missions pay less than a price of the travel ticket for third of the map distance. They didn't even bother to play-test Online for couple minutes before release thus we got defective version with 15-20 FPS till the fix six hours later.

U are delusional, a good pc has twice the graphic and 144 hz monitor with 144 fps, and vsync , I found it inpossible to enjoy any otehr game than ff15 or alike games on ps4. Its inpossible to enjoy fps games and other ones . Maybe ps5 wil lchange the game
maybe i am. i was a PC elitist for years. but i gotta say, playing RDR2 on my ps4 pro in 4k is great and i have ZERO hardware issues. frame rate is fine and smooth. destiny is also fantastic.

The PS4 Pro does not render the game in 4K. It’s 1920x2160, or half the total pixel count of 4K. The only console to run the game in true 4K is Xbox One X.

yeah yeah technically we all know its not really 4k, but the upgrade graphics wise and hdr make it look amazing. the point im trying to make is that while a difference can still be seen between PC and consoles, the gap is narrowing significantly. as i stated earlier, i was a PC fanboi and hated anything console. UNTIL I ACTUALLY TRIED IT. there are so many PC'ers out there that trash consoles knowing nothing more than specs. it started by us playing family games then moved on to more serious games. now i have 4 ps4's, 2 xbox ones, and a switch. the switch, by the way, is the most fun of all of them. now my wife and i have 2 desktop PC's collecting dust while the consoles see the action.

The gap, if anything, has grown wider. Faster storage, faster ram, significantly faster processing, and revolutionary advancements such as real time ray tracing are far beyond what consoles are capable of. Console hardware and capability stays static for their 8 year life cycle. PC makes advancements every year. I get what you’re trying to say, but there are objective differences in capability and power that you seem to be forgetting. I own and play on all 3 big consoles (X, Peo, Switch) and also have an incredibly powerful PC equipped with an 8700k and 2080 Ti. I see these differences every day, and they have been growing since Day 1.

The increases in processing power don't translate into anything significant any more. Console is already good enough that throwing more powerful hardware gives smaller and smaller benefits.
Some people want to go for that small graphic quality increase, but I'd say for most people it's so small it doesn't really matter.

You wrong about one important thing. Console capabilities are not static at all. The games at the end of the generation are the only ones that fully utilize the power of the console. And that's if any of them every do. PS3 never saw that reached.
And other dude is right also. Keep throwing your money at that 2% improvement. My One X looks as good as my $2500 PC. Oh and it runs RD2 at half the framerate of the One X.

Capabilities of the hardware are still static though, the games themselves take more advantage of the hardware yes. You pretty much just killed your own argument without even knowing it. PCs are harder to port games to due to more variables with hardware and software configurations. Same thing goes for bringing an app from iOS to Android and all the phones that support Android.
I built a great PC a couple months back, but I finished this on Xbox One X 9 months ago and would still be choosing a console version even if I hadn't.
For some genres I prefer a keyboard+mouse and for others a controller. Personally, if a game falls in the latter, I'll choose my 65" TV and the couch almost every time over the office chair, even with the new 32" 1440p ultra-wide and improved graphics/framerate.
This game plays so much better on pc with m&k than it did on console and controller for me. Game play wise, but hopefully this patch fixes things broke for me, I have the recommended gpu gtx1060 and the minimum i5 2500k( I have 6600k) but game freezes every 2-3 minutes, I can still here things happening in game just screen freezes, sometimes if carry out a conversation when it freezes it will come back with my char and the char he is talking to talking at the same time over each other. Also when I hit escape to go to game menu its like the top half of screen is menu while the bottom half is still trying to stay in the game.
Also would like to metion this is all on low settings.
Update so most all of the freezing is gone after this patch but I still have that weird thing going on on bottom of screen while trying to enter menu, also some of the interactive cutscenes.
I went in thinking my graphics card, a GTX 1070, was sufficient but I saw articles on Nvidia's User Experience tool say an RTX level card was needed for most 60 FPS resolutions. I had heard Nvidia say 40 graphic options.

Depends what your res is, on 1080p I have everything set to max with my 1060 and it runs great.
Here is where my experiment will be a success or failure. I am going to just right out buy it on Stadia (once I try Destiny 2 - if that sucks I will cut my losses). If I can play at 4K 60fps then I will keep going with Stadia. I will let you know sometime between before the 25th but I am sure someone else will get to it first

Very wonky stability and optimization attm, but it's to be expected the optimization that goes into consoles vs PC requiring much better hardware.
