I have to ask the people complaining Death Stranding is pretentious and contains too many cutscenes... Have you ever played a Kojima game?

I'm excited to play this game. It looks really unique.

I've watched gameplay of Death Stranding on Twitch. It's about as entertaining as watching paint dry, I can get a pizza delivery job in real life and get PAID to do it. They should have released PC concurrent with console, at least then PC players wouldn't have a whole year to realize Hideo Kojima slapped on a game doesn't make it worth a shit.

I was waiting for this comment. I felt the same way but had the game pre-ordered digitally so couldn't get a refund. This game is far better when your actually playing it then watching it.

I have felt something playing this game that I haven't felt playing any game this year. Dread, Fear, anxiety, etc...

Again not saying  that this game is going to be for everyone and some people may indeed find it boring but I do think that a vast majority of people will hate this game from watching Youtubers and Twitch then actually playing the game and that sucks

Playing the game usually is different than watching it, usually when the game lack action you will be bored watching it, but there are people who like watch boring games like chess or Go, it's not everyone cup of tea, but hey someone loves it.

Hadn't heard of this one but it looks weirdly interesting, on my steam wishlist now.

This game is ... [a lot of things]... a trip. It's like a dystopian nightmare come real. I'm not speaking about the game world. I'm talking about where AAA gaming has gone.

How many high resolution Rockstar energy drinks can you drink while showering with Daryl Dixon? Fewer times than you'll say, "WTF!" in between each event. Don't worry, there are more adverts to be seen, just have him sit on the toilet to trigger that one.

This bullet dodged courtesy of Sony PlayStation Share Play.

I hate giving Sam a shower because of  that stupid, "Ride with Nomarn Reedus on AMC," Poster they have every time. I lose my shit. For a game with some great immersion I can not abide by that at all. It makes no sense. Unless Norman said that he wouldn't do a shower scene unless they added it.

Wait, are you saying that their is an actual poster from an AMC show in game? And Rockstar drinks in it too?

I'm not sure whether that's actually immersive or actually shitty.

Loving this game so far. I have played for 10 hours over the last couple of days. I get why people don't like it however. I think its a game that one has to play for themselves to form there own opinion on the matter
I haven't played it, but i've discussed this same thing with friends. From what i've seen it is a game that you have to play to understand. One of my friends heavily criticised the game based on videos for the same UPS simulator thing. He bought it on day one and loves it.

So far from the reviews I am getting the idea this is more art than game, I will wait for PC reviews but not likely a purchase for me.

This game is more of an unique experience then a game. And for that it should be praised in it's own way especially for its many semi original ideas. But it's not something many gamers are used too, so opinions are always gonna vary.

Worst game ever to watch people play. I imagine it's just as boring to play.

Went to Twitch after reading comments here. Faced Norman Reedus' digital ass in the shower + sci-fi pizza delivery gameplay. Just typical weird Japanese stuff, no clue why people are surprised

+ no clue how could people mark it as 9/10 game? Not buying it + avoid anything labeled "Kojima" after that I've seen.

    Thank you for your time!

I think people are missing what's interesting here. As far as I'm aware Epic was unwilling to sell games that weren't at least timed exclusives. Why are they easing up?

I don't remember hearing that anywhere?  Why would they do such a thing and pass up profits?

Epic has been throwing around money trying to get themselves established on the market and part of that means snubbing developers who won't avoid steam.

Since when?  I don't see them snubbing developers.  I see them paying some developers for exclusive rights.  I thin your hatred of Epic is causing you to say things that just aren't true.

I am hearing mixed reviews of this game. Some calling it a walking Sim. What you all think?

It's a fedex simulator in a post apocalyptic worlds. a lot of walking until you meet something.

The game looks great and has some interesting things (like building stuff that appears in other people's games and vice versa) but I have a low tolerance for realism micro management: I'd rather have just the right amount of abstraction. That balancing mini game while walking would annoy me very quickly.

IDC really as i watched some of this game on Twitch with all the sponsored and free game recipients playing it.It looks like crap,i wouldn't play it if 100% free.I highly doubt we will see or hear about this game after the next week or two when all the sponsored teams move on to other games.

I've got about 8hrs in so far and digging it. The story is compelling as is the world building. The only Kojima game I've ever played was about 8hrs of Phantom Pain so while I've heard plenty of his story telling style I've not really experienced it until now. I'm on board so far.

As far as the Fedex sim gameplay loop I'm enjoying it. I like mapping out what I think is a good route then adapting as the terrain/hostiles become more evident. I don't mind the balancing minigame, it's challenging while still becoming second nature after a bit. I do like the auto load adjust option, it works and means you don't have to place each piece of luggage individually.

It's definitely a walking sim: watch the terrain, balance, careful going downhill/uphill, etc but for me it's a zen thing, sort of like mining in crafting/survival sims.

My recommendation is that if you see gameplay and don't like what you see at all, you probably won't like the game. If you're on the fence and have the money, give it a go. And if you're like me and thought "yea, I think a walking sim is cool" then give it a go. Do side missions, you'll get extra goodies/cosmetics... you know, like games used to back in the day.

It's a polarizing game for sure.

Oh and Wiz... you should really think about changing out that vinyl.

I'm 20ish hours into the game. You play a UPS package delivery guy. But the story is amazing and well acted in the scenes. I'm constantly going wtf was that. One of the biggest hooks is, the game starts very slow as you walk your packages to their destination. But as you link the network up you unlock more useful tools to use in the sandbox game. What's also interesting is how other players you will never see leave behind tools and buildings, or even help build roads. There is a interesting layer to the game about problem solving your destination and making use of time your effecently. Between the random dropped packages scattered the over the world, or the constant managing your weight of cargo and balancing, or the entertaining narratives.

There is just something about this game that is much more of a classical RPG then just a mere walking sim. But yes you are just going from point A to B, the puzzle is how you get there what tools you bring, and what other utilities other players have left.

Honestly the game keeps blowing me away. 9/10

Screw leveling games, give me something with "End game" at the beginning of the game.

Two very different takes on the game. Gamespot gave it 90% and Jim Sterling a "not recommended":
