Blizzard HotS is a failed game. Blizzard money didn't help it. It is not about money but about people not interested in playing clones of a game they played first. WoW players will likely stay in WoW rather than migrating to a clone just like LoL players will stay in LoL rather than migrating to a clone.
Playing WOW for world PvP is like going to McDonalds for their fish sticks
WOW is known for making MMOs accessible to the more casual masses looking for a guided experience and in that they succeeded big time. But world PvP? I take it the OP never played DAoC before WOW.

I played WoW when it originally launched. World PvP then was just running around, trying to gank people you encounter, and the occasional rugby scrum in Tauren Mill. Not exactly master design.

Emerald Dream was my RP/PvP server for years and the massive, fun, organized fights were few and far between. It was quite a let down for a DAoC vet.
Camping lowbees in quest hubs was all the rage though... whoopee?

One big reason I never PVPd in WOW was it all seemed so pointless.

Everyone says "Just Nostalgia", but I've had more fun with WoW Classic, than I've had with an MMO since.... including WoW. I've barely played an MMO since 2005/6, I quit WoW because they killed world PVP with all the changes. However nothing has come out since that has been any good, they all seemed to clone WoW, but miss what made the game good... which is the world. Everyone seems to treat the world as a nuisance for some reason?
For me the genre has been dead for almost 15 years And it is the fault of the developers, not me growing up, or looking back at Nostalgia... just they have failed to make good MMOs.
Classic only. Yes, you have to level the pet. If your're 33 and your pet is level 9 you have to level it up killing mobs that give you experience not your pet so the mobs have to be at least green and not grey to you. Hell of a thing.
I try to farm things myself and avoid buying ingredients from the AH so it takes time to progress.
Oh, you mean like on a hunter, I was thinking of something entirely different.

On which earth "classic is dying"? because on ours most certainly isn't "dying".

This is the kind of posting we don't need on this board. Reported.
