That very closed down Project C game https://project-c.darewise.com/

Thas created that whole craze about the 150$ cost to access the game with very little information, has lifted the NDA and gameplay of the recent tests can be finally seen

Some vids you can check:

No matter what is there,  Darewise has already proven by abandoning their last early access MMO, ROKH they will likely do so again should this title fail to generate enough revenue to sustain itself until completion.

Hey, it's your money,  but this team is not one of the better ones to bet on.

Darewise was publishing that not developing it right? Because the dev was the ones that also worked on Rollercoaster Tycoon world. Darewise itself seem to have formed their own development team and their first title is this Project C.

So many red flags here, telling me this is a waste of time.

First of all, links not allowed, they want to nickle and dime us from You Tube.
The presentation here is non professional, like nothing was properly prepared.
So when we finally get in,i see some very low end texture work.Ok the lighting is bad but that can be improved within a short time period.

Simply put, this video is no selling point.

It's a stream from a normal player they haven't compiled any gameplay themselves officially, so it's going to feel like a normal playthrough with the figuring out stuff aspect

So I wouldn't jump to hook that fail to this company, seeing the developer of that game has another game on steam Eden Rising and it's another publisher all together.
No, Darewise managed the development of ROKH from the beginning, and if you look on Steam (who is still selling it for some reason) at the user comments the servers have apparently been shut down.

Far as I'm concern, still using same business model to create an early access version from limited investor funds with the hope it generates enough money to fix / finish the game.  If it fails to do so, expect them to close it and perhaps go for three chances.

"ROKH’s cost of development was $2,000,000 (two million US dollars). We received this money from various investors who believed in the game and in the team who would develop it. This money brought us to the Early Access release last May. Unfortunately, despite an internal QA process at the studio, the game had numerous bugs at release. We worked hard with our initial development team partner but failed to solve the issues. Understandably as a result, by July 2017, we had sold only 4,688 copies, generating a net revenue (after refunds, platform fees and taxes) of €53,118. As you can imagine, nobody was happy with the situation and we had to find a solution.

From August 2017 until January 2018, we sold 1,528 copies, generating $10,100.

After working with multiple teams, we were able to find another team to take over the development and fix the known issues. They worked from November 2017 until January 2018, costing the project $82,356, which consumed the money ROKH had earned, plus additional investment. Red Kite Games did a great job solving the known issues and helping us extend the game. January’s update provided a stable build as well as added a crafting tree feature to smooth the experience. Since then, ROKH has sold 955 copies, generating net $7,824.

Darewise has obviously not recovered the investments made into ROKH. Lifetime revenue is $71, 049 for 7,171 copies, but we still believe in it and continue to seek resources to allow us to further develop the vision we have for ROKH. We are reinvesting every single dollar generated by the game back into the game, without using any of it toward other projects.

Which brings us to “But why are you working on another project? Why not use your team to further develop ROKH?”. Our new game, “Project C”, is being funded through a new partnership. The team that has been built to create it is entirely funded by the new partnership and it is not possible for that team to work on ROKH. "

I love how these companies always namedrop actual good companies when making their sales pitch. Nobody cares if you are some nobody who worked at some company in the past. Prove yourself by releasing a solid game under you own company or piss off.

    > 7,171 copies

    Fucking lol.

Actually people do care. Whenever an indy game makes an initial announcement, or even ask for money on Kickstarter, invariably someone asks "what have these guys done? I've never heard of them/what have they done?"

That's not a guarantee that anything they make will be successful, but when it seems that working on any game that can actually release is considered a marker of success, it can be of help.

Ah didn't know it was them then the other company.

From that info it shows the reason is very plainly the company losing money, if the game won't sell it'd just continue at a loss. Managing to secure investment to a new project becomes an obvious choice so seems understandable, otherwise the studio could go down ez. By your first post and this info, isn't that what any company would do? If a title fails to retain interest and sales and doesn't get further investment, a company can operate at a loss for so long.

As far as funding model here don't think there is info as far as their budget.

If this was a normal company soliciting funding from saavy investors I would be fine with a do-over, heck, many successful entrepreneurs fail many times before hitting it big.

But these folks are raising funds from gamers, most completely unaware of the risks they are taking contributing to this particular effort.

If Star Citizen could be considered a class A risk or investment, this one is more akin to penny stocks or junk bonds. ;)

Again, if people are aware of the risk and still wish to throw in, they can go for it, but then there should be few(er) complaints if it doesn't pan out.

Seeing by their first project their budget was actually an investment of 2 million, the sales is actually a fraction of the investment.

Not known is if they already have raised investment or are depending on sales, the heavy access price tag reminds me of Crowfall the earlier people wanted to play the more they'd pay

gotta be this toxic everywhere do you?  The project was very closed when announced with no footage of the game and very little info, now there is footage of what they have released, that's about it

That said, I don't own or plan to buy it, it feels generic currently

The only thing more cringe than those videos is their discord server.

I went on there after they initially offered those $150 founders packs.

    The server is hilarious.

Thing is filled with nothing but guilds they are clearly giving the game access to since all they do is rub each others pieces together over how sick the game is.

To their credit at one point a darewise member did state they only had sold like 6 of those packs, but that was at the time shortly after the article about the founders packs being posted on here.

So clearly there are not too many idiots falling into the same snake pit again.

It pains me to agree with IceAge, but they are spot on.

Its another 100% scam vaporware that only SC backers with high 6 digit incomes and low 2 digit IQs are all hyped up for.

Someone should start a save the nigerian scammer fund for these guys to contribute to  :)
