MMORPG.COM, you really need to include the rest of the information about the "donation" from the worldofwarcraft.com site. The maximum donation Blizzard will make is only $3 million. Any sales that over the first $3 million will be Blizzard profit. While I understand that Blizzard is a for profit company, they should not be generating profit on the backs of charities.
From the WoW site using the above link (bottom of the page) :
"**Donation amount for in-game pet excludes chargebacks, refunds, and value added taxes (VAT) or other similar taxes paid with a maximum donation amount of USD $3 million from all sales of the Dottie in-game pet and plushie for charity."

yes how dare blizzard host charity fundraisers. . .
EDIT: also "only 3 million". . .lets see the size of your charitable contributions
Put Dottie in a Legatus Pack and sell her for $27,000. You could feed an orphanage for a year on one Dottie.
Or you could buy one orphan a grilled cheese sandwich, pay greens fees for a certain Dev, and then have a certain 4 mmorpg.com posters bang on in chorus about how great the sandwich is.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests
Blizzard making money on the backs of underprivileged orphans and their clientele portraying an image of a company that is in touch with humanity to get a tax break at the end of the year makes me sick, if they were really feeling charitable they would donate based on being a company that is in touch with humanity, donate extra for events people took part in that they created in game. Company is just as evil as the rest of the big companies out there. Open your eyes - free your mind people....
And lets see what SE is doing for charity since they like to update FFXIV's cash shop on a monthly basis.....oh wait nothing since like a few months ago(?) when they donated like 100k or something to veterans.
Come down on Blizzard all you want, at least they are the most consistent company that donates on a yearly basis publicly.
SE can update their cash shop on a monthly basis and get their cult creating threads on their forum begging for more cash shop stuff, but Blizz puts in a mount to the cash every quarter and people act like they are the true semblance of evil.

The issue is not that Blizzard is making a charitable donation, it is the way they worded their press release that most of the media is using. The biggest problem is the line about the donation itself.
"In fact, 100% of your purchase price will be donated to those charities."
This is NOT true! If Blizzard and the media were being honest it should have read:
"In fact, 100% of your purchase price, up to a maximum of USD $3 million, will be donated to those charities."
I am all for companies and individuals making charitable donation, just please be honest if you decide to tell the world about it.

No, the player base is buying pixels. Blizzard is making the donation.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
Oh my God, someone actually posting a Quartering video!? Thats just too hilarious, and unfortunately, fitting for MMORPG.com
Trying to use a from a known hate monger is just indicative of the lows some people will sink to bash Blizzard.
Like Dawnhagen already said the problem is not the charity in itself but the fact that they're using it to make some profit and "concealing" it with vague wording and good press. If Blizzard really wanted to make a charity they would use the subs $$$ and not ask players to buy w/e micro-transaction they come up with.

What Dawnhagen didnt point out is the most Blizzard has made from one of these charity pets/mounts is $2.5 million which was Mischief in 2016. And if your math is good, that is below $3 million.
Also, I really love this "why dont they just donate to charity with their own money" nonsense. Well, I dont see any other company doing that either. So, why arent you bashing them for not taking money out their revenues and donating to charity?
No, its only Blizzard. Why arent you bashing Square Enix and NCsoft and EA too? Square Enix is making plenty of money from FF14 subscriptions so why not bash them too? No? Just Blizzard? Yeah, I thought so.

Hey, I did my part and bashed Star Citizen. Though it was as a joke that evidently no one found funny. Tough crowd. But of course, hungry orphan humor is kind of dicey.

Sure but why put a 3 million limit in the first place it makes no sense at all, besides, the main topic is about Blizzard so yeah we're talking about them.

you are missing the point.
Let me sell a pet with the promise that it's for charity so more people buy it, but i'll keep most of the revenue for myself.
That's not charity, that's bs.
Don't get me wrong, charity is appreciated. However, using charity to line your own pockets is awful.
I think it’s great that we’re helping charity! BUT part of me can’t help to think this is just a way for them to make money off uninformed people (after Dec 31 thinking they’re still supporting charity). Blizzard has just been very tricky as of late and rubbing me the wrong way.
Jesus I cant understand why people are defending this shitty behavior. If blizzard really wanted to donate then just effing donate that 3 million not try to make a profit of charity. This is disgusting period.

Exactly how I feel about this situation too, if you’re going to support a charity and market an item as doing so, then you should not have hidden surprises in the small print that "sneakily" change the items purpose down the line. This is beyond misleading.

I mean, seriously, only on MMORPG.com will you find people bashing Blizzard for donating millions to charity.
When this kind of idiocy happened before they would get yelled at by Suzie Ford, but she's gone now along with all of the moderators.
